- The incomparable Joe Henry and the lovely Lisa Hannigan recently teamed up for a short US tour, which led them our way through Portland, OR. The rare opportunity to document these two singing and performing together in such an intimate and beautiful setting (Portland's White House), was quite extraordinary. Watch here as they perform three songs for us.

Keep coming back to this, such a great performance.
So glad you enjoyed this wonderful session!
Was a Joe Henry fan for a few years, and this was my first introduction to Lisa Hannigan. Very cool!
Magical. Lisa Hannigan is just remarkable--so expressive, equal parts raw and sophisticated. This is my first time hearing Joe Henry, and I'm looking forward to hearing more!
I discovered Lisa later in life after following Joe for years. That woman is the living embodiment of the music she plays- a privilege to see and here. I find Joe the perfect foil. I'm feeling a bit of Jed Clampett, (sp?) a dash of Eddie Munster, the heart, some of the stories and the respect for family represented so well by Nancy Griffith. Shake combo well and add some Tom Waits and several aspects of The man in Black, secured, for the moment, by his own boundaries and the boundaries and energy of his thoughts, the music and the energy of the moment.
i cant believe i missed this. i was just in portland... i want to see her so bad..
Good night. They sound incredible together. Love this set.
So glad you enjoyed this wonderful session!
Glad I ran across this. Kinda blows me away...one of my favorite artists in Joe Henry, amazingly playing in the exact spot where my cousin was married at the Portland White house in 1987...also the last time I would see my cousin alive as he died the next fall. Thanks for posting this. Life is funny.
That is a very incredible story. Glad you found this session and it could bring the good, and the harder, memories back.
Wonderful duo, hope they can work this into more gigs together. From late to the party Charley.
Glad you enjoyed this session. It is still one of our favs.
Best duo performance ever made!
So glad you enjoyed this wonderful session!
Beautiful.
Beauty!
Joe Henry really is Mr. Effortless cool aint he?
fahim113 he's my dad
More difficult for you to reach that level- to be the amazing being that you are? Relax- I think that it is easiest to be oneself. Best of luck to you..
Excellent! This is the best of the two of them together. I can understand why the melody for Little Bird had to be altered some to accomodate Joe's lower voice and his drop D guitar tuning two whole steps lower than the original.
Great song. Irish pride.
I loved this so much
So glad you enjoyed this wonderful session!
yes that's true!
love them both
So glad you posted, the link on Facebook wasn't working for me.

Can anyone tell me what those mic's are?
Those are Ear Trumpet Labs microphone. They are a Portland, OR based company and make some rad gear!
+ThePortlandSessions awesome, thanks!
I prefer her solo version. Their voices just don't go well together here in my opinion. That said, Lisa just looks freakin gorgeous :D
lisa looks stressed.she sings better with that smile on her face.
Would be good without him
