    Thats a really useful video - will work well with my Dark Angels. I’d love to know how to set up a wet palette from scratch to painting too. My paper never looks as wet as that, and I never get my glazes beading up like you do.

    Hi, tried this technique and it's absolutely excellent! I'm having trouble applying it to the cloak of a Sword Brethren mode, and that's mainly due to being unable to make the transitions smooth enough. I think what's not helping is the cloak has a much larger surface area and - generally - far few ripples/folds to apply contrast into. Is that just a case of improving my technique to smooth the transitions, or would you recommend a different technique for cloaks?

    All of these videos are amazing and are a great help to my Black Templar project. Quick question: is the Khorne Red you used for the freehand the same you would use on a Templar's gun casing or should pads? The GW site says Mephiston, but all the 'Eavy Metal paint jobs look more like Khorne to me. Anyway, thanks for the excellent videos!

    • @InfernalBrush
      @InfernalBrush  2 года назад +2

      Thank you! Yes it is Khorne Red. This is the recipe: Red Weapon Casing
      Base: Khorne Red
      Shade: Khorne Red / Black 1:1
      Chunky Highlight: Mephiston Red
      Highlight: Evil Sunz Scarlet
      Highlight: Tau Light Ochre
      Dot Highlight: Lugganath Orange

      @@zurmanskyplayer9058 The red shoulderpads recipe is basically
      Basecoat - Mephiston Red
      Shade - Mephiston Red / Black 1:1
      Tidy Up - Mephiston Red
      Chunky Highlight - Evil Sunz Scarlet
      Highlight - Trollslayer Orange

    Great stuff, the freehand works looks fantastic! Not sure if this is something you’ve been asked before, but when working for ‘Eavy Metal would GW allow you to use non-Citadel products when working for them? I only ask due to you pointing out your preference for Daler-Rowney glaze medium, thanks!

  • @nomusenopaint

    Do you use solely the glaze medium for thinning or is water also added? I am just asking because I found that many manufacturers of mediums suggest that the medium should not be overthinned (usually more than 50%) water. help would be appreciated! Thank you for your tutorials :)

      Hello, I used to use exclusively Winsor and Newton Series 7 Sizes 00,0,1,2 and Series 7 Miniature Size 1. Now days I use more Rosemary and Co Series 33 size 00, 2, 3 because they are cheaper. Smaller brushes for highlights, larger for glazing and basecoats

    Thank you for sharing/teaching, as always! I notice that your way differs from Louise's method shown on WH+...I assume your way is more in-line with the box art as you're actually on the 'eavy metal team, but I'm curious: what do you think of the tarragon turquoise step (assuming you've watched the tutorial)?

    • @InfernalBrush
      @InfernalBrush  2 года назад +1

      Hey there thanks for watching. The warhammer+ masterclasses don't tend to follow the actual box art recipes. I painted this version to specifically match the eavy metal box art. I see no reason why you couldn't use the contrast paint to glaze, however I personally just prefer to use paint as it has a more reliably matte finish. If I were painting this for myself I would have probably spent more time glazing on some volumetric highlights, however in the studio they don't tend to do this for consistency reasons.

    • @InfernalBrush
      @InfernalBrush  2 года назад +1

      Not too sure as this was painted a very long time ago. I would probably just mix in some black with Iron warriors, shade with nuln and a sharp highlight of silver.

    This sounds absurd - but how wet is the top of the sheet on the wet palette - my paints still seem to dry or just spread despite being on a saturated wet palette

    • @InfernalBrush
      @InfernalBrush  2 года назад

      The top of the sheet isn't wet really. I just use standard baking paper and it does a decent job of keeping the paint wet for around 4-8 hours without being covered in a warm room however I do change the paper fairly regularly.
