The thermal pad is extremely useful in cold weather camping I agree.
Did you forget to list the iPod shuffle? Ideal for walking because it's tiny, can clip on to clothes, and just imagine how many copies of Ocean Drive you can fit on there.
As soon as the song disappears from my head a post like this arrives. I took my Ipod with me but didn't listen to music. I quite like the sounds of the countryside.
Big thanks to Cool Dude #1. I bought one of those massage balls from Amazon (via the link on the walking club website, of course) and it’s helped my shoulder immediately after just a couple of uses. I had a steroid injection into my shoulder 3-4 years ago which only worked for a few months so the massage ball is a godsend !!
Those massage balls are amazing. I tried so many before someone I know with back problems recommended that one. It is the best! Glad it has come to some use.
I’ve only just discovered this channel and the CDWC after listening to your appearance on RHLSTP (“rhlsp!”) and I’m already hooked.
Brilliant videos and the kit list for this walk is one of the most comprehensive I’ve seen. The makers of those blister pads owe you a great deal as I’ll get buying some of those too. Regarding the vasaline, I’m intrigued to find out if you applied it at the beginning and/or end of each day.
PS congrats on completing this challenging walk too 👍
Nice one cool dude. Put the vaseline on first thing before you put your socks on, and maybe on the inside of thighs. It makes a massive difference. And as soon as you feel any hot spots on your feet stop and put a Compeed on before a blister develops. It is a pain in the ass but can make the difference between a walk being pleasurable and hell. And most importantly use all my amazon affiliate links to get your stuff 😎👍. Stay cool.
Thanks mate xxx
Very nice thanks for review friend
Congratulations again! Fantastic achievement and enjoyed following along each day.
Thanks cool dude #128. Stay cool
I need those blisterplasters.
The inventor should have got the nobel prize.
This is going to sound really dumb, but I've never even considered using a bumbag on a walk. Pretty handy place to have everything you might need at a moment's notice.
They look awful but I have been totally converted. I got mine for my birthday and it was my favourite present. That makes me cool right?
@@cdwc Makes you a winner in my book. 👍 The hat looks cool too, despite what the general public might think. Give it a few years and everyone'll be wearing one. 👑
Well that’s good to know.
all the cool dudes have already snaggled up the bum matts (Therm-a-Rest)
Put it on your wish list, that's what I do and then you can watch the price fluctuate. I think I got mine for £12. It is the best bit of kit that looks as though it is going to be rubbish but is excellent.
It’s personal choice, but I reckon you could lose: Tent (tarp and Bivvi). Flip flops. Underwear x 1. Fleece. Pyjamas. Cup. Three meals. 3 dry bags (put clothes inside sleeping bag) I reckon that’s 3 KGs. Keep your comforts like the mat and the pillows.
I would never have gone into the showers on the last day without flip flops. Also Tarp and Bivvi!!!!!! I can barely put a tent up.
Do you find your sock need suspenders with all that grease? And more importantly Marek have you ever met a man that wears sock suspenders? I have just done a google search of sock suspenders and ooh la la. I am now quite interested to know if a man feels slightly sexier with them on? Sock suspenders... cool or uncool.
I put just enough vaseline on that I do not require sock suspenders. I have never met a man that wears sock suspenders. If I do I'll be sure to ask him if he feels sexy, but will be sure to let him know that it is for a friend. Specifically Cool Dude #121.
@@cdwc thank you Marek. It’s important research. I’d do it myself but my research will be off... as it’s hotter weather now men on my side of the world mainly wear thongs and shorts. Thongs with socks is illegal here obviously. And my mother always said don’t stare at men... you will get pregnant accidentally.
Are the shoes true to seize or do you have to go up or down a seize?
They are true to size.
@@cdwc Thank you, cool dude!
If you haven't done so already, I'd make a list of all items with respective weights. Even sort items in to groups (ie. toiletries). Then start analysing and scrutinising anything over 1kg... There may be exceptions, like a tent and rucksack.
But it was good to see what you packed and used. Was there much that you didn't use? Apart from the spaghetti!
I didn't use the spaghetti, the mini roller tube for my planter fasciitus (this weighs about 10g), and I might not use the gas canister plastic holder that I think you have in future walks. I literally used every other single thing. I spent all my money getting a smaller camera as my GH5 and tripod were twice as heavy on the Isle of Wight walk. I suppose I could get lighter clothes but that would only shave off about 250g (not even a spaghetti) and be way more expensive. I think my camera, tripod, spare battery and rode microphone add up to about 1kg and most people don't take that.
I’ve managed to get my pack weight down to around 5kg (not including fuel, food and water). This has been done over 10 years though, things can get expensive when starting out with light weight gear unfortunately.
did you sleep well when camping ild be scared of weirdos messing with my tent while i was in it :(
No-one ever sleeps well when camping unless they are the weirdo.
Time for views and reviews.
