The only possible use case for this unit is if you need a bigger screen and you can’t or won’t do a full fledged head unit in the car dash. At $350 without a radio or good rca outputs, this unit is too close to the price of a real brand name car stereo with more capabilities. I am unable to do a head unit in my own car but rather than do a shaky mount of something like this, I got a Proclip wireless charging dash mount that puts my phone next to the steering wheel and a Fiio BTR5 bluetooth reciever plugged into the car’s aux jack. A Tunai Bluetooth Button mounted on the steering wheel restores steering wheel controls and call answering . Only one neatly tucked away cable for the phone mount and I have all my apps at my fingertips.

I’d buy this in a heartbeat if it werent for that reason. Maybe I’ll give it a go but most likely return it for that reason.
As long as you pair your phone to your car radio AND this unit, yes. So you’ll have two connections at once. Same if you’re playing music via the FM transmitter.
Thanks. I would like to use this only for Google maps, but still be connected over Bluetooth with my car's Bluetooth for calls and playing music. Is this possible?
1.21 Gigawatts. But seriously, this looks like an easy upgrade for my 2013 Honda fit. I wouldn't want to lose the steering wheel audio controls by replacing the OEM head unit. I have a new vehicle on order but I probably won't get it for a year or more.
First off, thanks for the awesome review! I wanted to clarify the Bluetooth for everyone and myself. I read all your comments and replies. So you did the following (correct me if I'm wrong): Step 1. Connected your iPhone /Android to the Carpuride Screen Step 2. Connected the Carpuride to your car's Bluetooth using the BT Transmit Button. AKA The Capuride searched and found your car and you were able to pair it to it. Is that correct? Can you confirm?
If your car has Bluetooth, connect your phone to both the car and the smart screen via Bluetooth. If your car does not have Bluetooth, then connect the unit via the 3.5 mm plug or via FM audio. I think this is the best scenario.
My guess would be just to show that this option exists for those, who aren't comfortable replacing the head units themselves or can't afford to pay someone to do it. If I still had my old 2012 Chevrolet Spark, which had (and probably still has) the default car stereo with a CD slot and a minijack input, I would certainly have considered this among my options. I would have Android Auto at my fingertips and would only need to either get the FM transmitter going or hook it up to a minijack to get the audio from the unit into my car stereo.
Sometimes you can lose a lot of vehicle features if you change the head unit. In my car, for example, I’ll lose drive modes, air ionizer, shock absorber dampening modes, etc, if I replace the factory HU
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted That's so true; I hadn't even considered how so many features of a modern car are accessed through the head unit, but still might lack Android Auto/Apple Carplay support or a proper, fully updated built-in sat nav system.

How can I send audio to my car if I'm using Android auto, i've tried everything but android refuse to send audio to another device, just the android auto receiver...
It's a nice enough device to handle Carplay and A Auto, but other than having a bigger screen than a smartphone, I can't see the benefit as opposed to having a phone mount on the dash. I have one permanently in place with a charge cable and 3,5mm jack routed to it (tucked the cables neatly away under the dashboard panelling) and it does all that the Carpuride does without needing to pair a phone and having the WiFi or Bluetooth eating away the phone battery. Transmitting audio through FM is nice, but quality isn't great. My car does have a backup camera, if yours doesn't this might be an option, but mind that installing a rear camera and routing wires through your car could be a challenge. And you'd still need to remove and replace the Carpuride unit (and unplug and replug all the wires) when you park in any place where car thieves may see a big shiny screen and smash in your window. What I'd like to see for a device like this is something really flat that can be attached to the sun visor, just flip the visor up and it's outta sight. With just ONE cable to it for power and audio, maybe a splitter on the other end with a USB power plug, 3,5mm audio jack, camera in etcetera. And maybe DAB+ reception, since cars that devices like these are aiming for probably don't have that either. Yes we're probably talking $$$ now but it'd be worth it if it does it all and can be easily installed in any car.
