Lyrics:
My skin is black
My arms are long
My hair is woolly
My back is strong
Strong enough to take the pain
inflicted again and again
What do they call me
My name is AUNT SARAH
My name is Aunt Sarah
My skin is yellow
My hair is long
Between two worlds
I do belong
My father was rich and white
He forced my mother late one night
What do they call me
My name is SAFFRONIA
My name is Saffronia
My skin is tan
My hair is fine
My hips invite you
my mouth like wine
Whose little girl am I?
Anyone who has money to buy
What do they call me
My name is SWEET THING
My name is Sweet Thing
My skin is brown
my manner is tough
I'll kill the first mother I see
my life has been too rough
I'm awfully bitter these days
because my parents were slaves
What do they call me
My name is PEACHES Видеоклипы
Fantastic saxaphonist.
That sax solo slayed me!... I think I'm in love.
BLACK GIRL MAGIC!!!
Ok,reports are saying all these ladies are at LARGE and to be considered highly dangerous!!!!!!! How on earth do you murder this song on all levels and maintain this measure of grace. This is what l call classy. Yasssssssss
Miss Sweet Thing gave me Jill Scott tease with that approach!!! Love!😍😍😍
The 30 people who disliked this are delusional, this was a phenomenal performance across the board, I am in absolute awe at how great this was.
THE BAND IS OFF THE HOOK...............TOO...I'M SO......."PROUD" OF YA'LL!
I love how each singer/artist captured the personality of the specific woman the were singing about
This definitely would make Nina Simone proud!
the third vocalist tho...LIT
Deep! 100% Black Women, True beauty, elegance, and skills.
I'm a '77 graduate of Berklee and am so very impressed with all of the talent I've been seeing in these wonderful college- produced videos! A LOT has changed in the musical world over the 42 years since I graduated and I'm so happy to see Berklee has continued to do such a great job keeping current with today's music industry and is continuing to move things forward. It's the main reason why I contribute to The Berklee Fund each year... to assure that talented women like those in this video (and the many other young women and men I've seen and heard on other Berklee videos) are afforded the opportunity to pursue their dreams by making music to which the whole world can dance together. Great job, ladies!
when the girl sing the sweet thing part, my eyes start crying.. i loved the cover, one of the best eveeeerr
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL, ONLY BLACK WOMEN CAN SING LIKE THIS, MAKE MY SOUL CRY!!!! GREETINGS FROM MEXICO!!!!
I love when I stumble on things like this.. Young Gifted and Black Women🖤🖤🖤
Amazing. Such different voices and then to have that blend in the final "what do they call me" section was beautiful. Big fan of Nina Simone and I thought this was incredible.
PS that last girl belted an A...
That saxophone! omg!
Miss Nina would be very proud.
Beautifully done, ladies.
This was BEYOND amazing!!

Simply put, these women are awesome. I love how they jazzed up the song. The saxophone player was amazing. she added flavor to the song. No wonder they gave her a brief solo. She can blow.
Oh my gosh watching this video really makes me proud to be an aspiring writer/musician as black woman in the male dominated controlled music industry!
WOW! There is nothing else to add - except: This is one of the best Versions of this outstanding song by Dr. Nina Simone.
The Saxophonist is crazyyyyyyy😧😧

I am in tears RIGHT NOW. This moved my soul on soooo many levels to the very. last. note. BRAVA!!!
The best cover of this I've heard of this. Absolutely crushed this song. And, 32 people either hit the wrong button or are just plain haters. Great job ladies. BTW as a saxophonist myself, your solo was excellent. Musical genius begins not with what you play but by what you obviously can but choose not to play. Understatement is king...well in this instance queen.
Is it just me or does the last vocal make you tear up a bit? The emotion is captured so well and I've been visiting this video for years now. Never fails to move me.
That's a fabulous Version - with the women musicans. Lovely! I like to listen AND watch!
It’s 2020 and I’m still coming back to this these women are absolutely incredible much love from Canada 🇨🇦

They made this their own. It's folk and jazzy and a little HipHop and I'm Loving it. The band is tight and Girl you Go on that saxophone. You remind me of Grover Washington and Stanley Turrentine. Nina would be proud of you all.
