This one hit me hard. My dad isn't my biological father and I found out when I was about 10 but I am so grateful for him because I'm almost 21 and he has been there for me 24/7 since i was about 18 months old. From taking me to a&e when I trapped my finger in a door when I was a toddler, to rubbing my back, buying me chocolate and pads and giving me cuddles when I got my first period, to being there for me all the time when my biological father made me feel worthless. I may not share his DNA but he has always been and will always be my dad.
Yay I'm so happy he took up that role, he didn't have to take, but he did and made you feel love all of these years that may have never been presented. Good man!
@Jacky Phantom I didn't think about that, but you're absolutely right. There is no such thing as Cuban DNA. There are no doubt many Cubans whose DNA is 100% European. But we can appreciate the scenario although it really isn't accurate about the DNA stuff. Scenario: Through DNA testing, the child has learned/is about to learn that her father isn't her biological father. You're listening one table away: What would you do?
@Jacky Phantom Exactly. The father should've acted like he was the one that was lied to about his heritage and not the daughter. Then the daughter wouldn't be upset and there wouldn't be an issue.
I took an Ancestry DNA test, and the fact that my father was genetically related to me was honestly more surprising than it would have been if he wasn’t.
Haha same. To everyone asking why, sometimes your mom is sketchy or your dad is absent/an asshole, so you assume he might not be your real dad. Or maybe you look nothing alike.
I mean... it’s technically true. The only thing really wrong with incest is the genetic disorders their child could have if they had one together. As long as they know to not have their own children, and to adopt... then I think it’s fine. 🤷♂️
Story aside, It was great to see that perfect strangers were willing to reach out and help someone in need. We need more of this in this world. This was awesome to see!
*Restaurant Sorry, just want to correct you in case other people might take advantage of that and call you a moron. Eh, whatever. That could've probably been autocorrect.
@@glenncordova4027 fir some reason my autocorrect always corrects real words into fake words, or completely unrelated. It always corrects out onto put.
I think it would have been more believable for her to be mad about that because her real dad is out there somewhere. A sperm donor is way different than an active participant in conception 😂
It doesn't matter but the child should be told asap so they grow up with it being the norm. The worst way to find out would be a health scare when they're older or have children of their own further down the line.
That's why the overdramatic super-personal restaurant scenarios (like the pregnant teenage girl changing her mind about giving the baby up for adoption) make me cringe a little. It comes off as so theatrical sometimes
But it’s not. Just because they aren’t related, doesn’t mean this man isn’t her father. He raised her and she is completely forgetting that and is being completely ungrateful towards him
Can we talk about how the last lady made John tear up? Like I don’t think I have ever seen him cry, that is how impactful those young ladies made! We need more people like them!
I would guess someone who isn't expecting it to lead in to any major revelation, but just a fun little, "Oh look, there's X% (Genetics) in me! How neat!" She did say she got it as a gift in one run through, so I could definitely see that happening.
As an adopted child, I feel like biological relationships mean nothing. To be upset about finding out or being told is just a weird reaction to me. If your adopted or unbiological family made the decision to raise you and love you, that means they are as much of family as blood.
@@corrohooker I reckon', in their defense, the daughter didn't assume it would become so intimate or revealing, so she saw no harm in it. The instances where the characters knowingly bring private or dramatic discussions to a public restaurant are a lot harder to rationalize, tho; like parents explaining a divorce to their kid, or making private confessions out loud
“Cuban” wouldn’t show up on a DNA test unless her father is Taino or Arawak Indian. Otherwise it would be wherever his ancestors came from, such as the Iberian peninsula.
I felt this deep in my soul as an adopted child. My “adopted” parents are my parents period. They are my soul mates & they are my not blood-blood. When they hurt, I hurt. Your parents are the ones that raise you, periodt.
Aussies_are_white 00 and it Can messier if their daughter found out herself, there is more room for forgiveness if you tell your lie then letting them figure it out

This happened to my mom. She took the test and found out her dad wasnt her biological dad. (It was also a sperm donor, like in the video) Now she has multiple half siblings that she didnt even know existed until she was 40. Its really crazy how much these DNA tests can change someones life

if they are unable meet at one of their houses because the distance is too long, out of country, etc. people will meet at a mutual location, it’s not like this is a supermarket, so yeah a restaurant....
well, the daughter had no idea there was something out of the ordinary. she correctly assumed; cuban dad, european mom would mean she would get those results on her ancestry. she did not expect it to be a sensitive issue as discussing your family's ancestry is not a sensitive topic when your family has been honest with you. i did 23 and me and my parents and i were waiting for a show to start in a crowded, public place when my results came in. we spent the thirty minutes before the curtains opened talking about it. it was casual and the results were as expected. so, if you take those assumptions into consideration, it was a totally appropriate discussion to have in public. when things took a turn, i would have probably lowered my voice and suggested we go elsewhere but that probably didn't cross their minds as the parents were clearly a bit spooked they had to reveal this information.
He raised her, he is more her father than anyone else.
Justice 31 Exactly and you do not need to have the same DNA in order to be parents or a family.

I think good adoptive parents are the same....They found you and picked you...
Woman in turquoise jacket at the end: "They loved you before you even got here. They went out of their way to get you." LOVE THIS.
That hit me too...
I may not share his DNA but he has always been and will always be my dad.
wow that hit hard on me
Yay I'm so happy he took up that role, he didn't have to take, but he did and made you feel love all of these years that may have never been presented. Good man!

Problem solved.
LOL! I thought for sure I was Cuban! They even made me learn Spanish!
@Jacky Phantom he's Cuban
i do have family members that were not biological
The very last people were fantastic. The young lady's parents are no longer together but she is so compassionate and loving. Such a beautiful being
I took an Ancestry DNA test, and the fact that my father was genetically related to me was honestly more surprising than it would have been if he wasn’t.

Absolutely! I have 5 grandchildren that aren't mine by blood but I'm the only Granny they know. I've been in their lives since they were very young.
It doesn't matter but the child should be told asap so they grow up with it being the norm. The worst way to find out would be a health scare when they're older or have children of their own further down the line.

As an adopted child, I feel like biological relationships mean nothing. To be upset about finding out or being told is just a weird reaction to me. If your adopted or unbiological family made the decision to raise you and love you, that means they are as much of family as blood.
families can change and loyalties too... bloodline never can...

well, the daughter had no idea there was something out of the ordinary. she correctly assumed; cuban dad, european mom would mean she would get those results on her ancestry. she did not expect it to be a sensitive issue as discussing your family's ancestry is not a sensitive topic when your family has been honest with you. i did 23 and me and my parents and i were waiting for a show to start in a crowded, public place when my results came in. we spent the thirty minutes before the curtains opened talking about it. it was casual and the results were as expected. so, if you take those assumptions into consideration, it was a totally appropriate discussion to have in public. when things took a turn, i would have probably lowered my voice and suggested we go elsewhere but that probably didn't cross their minds as the parents were clearly a bit spooked they had to reveal this information.
