Deliverance is an excellent film, highly recommended. No spoilers, just four words from an unforgettable scene you've never seen anything like it before or since. "Squeal like a pig!"
That IS a very famous scene!! And a very famous song.. My early childhood was spent in an area like that in North Carolina hanging out with my Grandpa.
I read the book in high school. This scene shows the differences, but more importantly the commonalities, people from two very different walks of life enjoy. Good life lesson for any time.
Here's a fun fact the young boy playing the banjo is not actually playing the part they had a professional banjo player doing it he was behind the boy sitting on the porch swing and it's the professionals hands and arms playing it
Is this a musical? OMG. Backstory on this movie: 1972, same year as Godfather, Cabaret. Stars Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight, Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox (last two making their film debuts). Very disturbing but brilliant film. Not for the squeamish. This scene is a metaphor for the city men who are "lost" amongst the local natives and the rural land. What happens during their innocent trip will change them forever. Along with Midnight Express, one of the most intense experiences you'll have watching a movie.
Nice review. This was such a classic back in the mid 70s. I was in Boy Scouts at the time and an old guy (maybe 16) had wls on the radio when driving us kids to a hike and this song, and Minne's song (Lovin You) literally played once an hour. As a kid I loved this song.
The movie *IS* worth it, but you wouldn't get it. Are you even old enough to watch it? It's pretty disturbing. The banjo requires a very skilled player. Google the movie cast, you might recognize a few names. The guy with the pipe in his mouth is Angelina Jolie's dad.
I miss jem reactions, did she say that she will return after college? Also she called it wholesome which is funny seeing what happens in the movie lol.
I Was 11 Years Old When This Movie Come Out - But Didn't See It Til - RUclips - 45 - 50 - Years Later LOL , Don't Worry I Never Feel Old At 61 - Lol - Good Review - I Have Subed and Clicked Bell

And another..."he's got a pretty mouth."

I'm not sure whether you would like it. It's not an easy watch. But Deliverance is a genuinely great movie. Adults only - you've been warned!
Great film.. Iconic..

A great, but disturbing movie. It's definitely not a fun movie!
Very tough movie to watch, including scene of sexual assault of one of the four friends seen here.

If you ask Ned Beatty what this movie is about he would say its a love story.
OMG! Definitely a scene that you can’t unseen once you’ve seen it.
A movie you will never forget.
Oh yeah you should watch this movie! It is a real fun movie! A laugh a minute! Brahahaah! Go fer it ya'll !!
This movie certainly is not a musical. About the only light hearted scene in the film.
Thank God, i hate musicals! They take too long!! Meanwhile, this film is the boss!!

The duel can be played using 2 banjos or any combination of instruments
True. I have a single by Martin Mull called "Dueling Tubas." Oom pa pa.
Muito legal que tu faz, mostra melhores músicas
There is no singing in the movie, but a couple of characters do hit some high notes.
Miss ya Jem
un trés bon film mais assez violent sur la fin ,une bonne idée de ce morceau de musique 🙂🙂👍
One thing that scene does is show the relationship between Autism and Idiot Savant.
Thanks!
Is this a musical. What a laugh!!!
