This was great! Back in the 70’s in the show Hee Haw. Roy Clark is on the right. He was my dads favorite because he’s Always makes such goofy faces. He was extremely talented. ❤️

If you want a major treat, look up Roy Clark playing "Malaguena". Many people have played that piece brilliantly, but nobody's ever done it better than Roy.

This was Amazing. Some time around the spring of 1998, I was at a function in someone's home in Charleston, SC. Everyone was milling about, having a nice time.. and a guy and his wife walked in.. very friendly.. just shook my hand and introduced himself: "Hello, I'm Arthur Smith. Nice to see you." I had not seen a picture of him in years, but it hit me almost instantly. He started to walk away, and I had to ask. "Excuse me, Mr. Smith.. You wouldn't happen to be Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith, would you?" He smiled, and said.. "I'm afraid I'm guilty, son." Mr. Smith was also the composer of *this* song, Dueling Banjos. We talked about music for a few minutes... he could have blown me off, but was just the nicest person. I'll never forget it.
Being a musician, Roy Clark and Buck Owens were heroes to me, growing up. Thank you for keeping their music and spirit alive!

    I LOVE you guys!
Roy Clark (Red Checked Shirt) was a master musician.
My late grandpa went to bed with the chickens but always stayed up on Saturday nights to watch "Hee Haw" which is where this picking took place.
Peace from the mountains of North Carolina.

There once was a movie called "Deliverance" that used this song with a banjo and a guitar. Trust me, if you were a certain age and had seen the movie.... THIS song would send a chill down your spine for various reasons. Kind of strange to now see a new generation run across it from time to time and be completely swept away by the musical talent it takes to simply play it.
But for some of us... this song is still a "warning" that you might be somewhere you do NOT want to be.

Fantastic! Thanks for brightening my day. Another banjo classic that has a good sense of humour is Raymond Fairchild "woah mule"... Very good.

I watched the show they were on as a kid. Not a banjo fan, but there is another musician you could check out, her stage name is " Mean Mary" and "Iron Horse" is a great song. Love to watch a reaction to her music!

I grew up on “Hee Haw”, and I still love seeing these incredible performances. I always thought Roy was most impressive because of his virtuosity on guitar AND banjo. If you’ve never played both, it looks like an easy transition, but it’s not. They aren’t even tuned the same. Roy could floor you on guitar, man. And he usually had a sense of humor while he was thoroughly amazing you. Haven’t seen a lot of your videos, but if you haven’t checked it out yet, listen to Billy Strings “Turmoil and Tinfoil”. If you like this, you will love that too.

I'm going to suggest two songs:
Folsom Prison Blues -- Roy Clark on the Jimmy Dean show
William Tell Overture -- Glen Campbell
    Great reaction.

The first banjos were patterned from an African instrument. I don't remember what it was called 🤔 but pretty cool 😎 👌.

You guys should check out the version of this song from the movie Deliverance. It was a huge, highly praised movie in the 70's that famously featured a version of this song.
And if you guys like people that have fun on stage, you check out the live version of The Talking Heads doing Life During Wartime.
