Progressive rock band GPS releases Two Seasons Live in Japan, a 2DVD/4CD box set documenting two powerful performances in Japan from 2007. Released by GONZO Multimedia, the box set features 2 video DVDS and 4 audio CDs containing two complete concerts. GPS (founded in 2006) includes singer/bassist John Payne (ASIA), guitarist Guthrie Govan (ASIA, the Aristocrats), drummer Jay Schellen (ASIA, CIRCA:, Conspiracy), and keyboardist Ryo Okumoto (Spocks Beard).
Volume Two showcases John Payne and Guthrie Govan in an intimate acoustic setting at Clapper in Tokyo 6-April 2007.

Normaly I get frustrated when I see great Guitarplayers on RUclips..but Guthrie always manages to make we want to play Guitar..and practise. I know I will never ever be even close to him..but I love what he does..and I try to reach my Top. Thanks Mr. Govan!!
Well, playing in the same level isn't that hard tbh, with lots of hours and the right training you can achieve that, hard thing would be able to compose anything he has ever composed haha, i can play some of the hardest songs that most guitarrists play, but i think i would never compose something in the same level i play =/

Just one thing: Why isn't any of his guitar solos up there on that Top 100 guitar solos till now? He has surpassed People like slash, petrucci. Acoustic is hell lotta tough than electric. GUTHRIE is god. Hands down!!
Because those guys have created great albums and Govan hasn't. They are more well rounded musicians, Govan is an incredibly good session guitarist. When it comes to actually writing music he hasn't really produced anything that phenomenal. Take his solo project Erotic Cakes for instance. There is very little there that non guitarists would find interesting about it.
Govan works best with other musicians directing the concept and style of the music. His own music sounds like generic You Tube backing tracks with solos over the top. Incredibly good solos, but it takes more than that to produce a brilliant album.

Govan changed the guitar world back in 2006 (and later in 2011) with his album erotic cakes. Your judgment of his work only based on popularity is just stupid. Govan did an incredibile amount of tunes and famous solo, but he never did music he didn t love just to become popular. The fact that he is less known than other guitarists as slash, is simply because he is a more sophisticated musician and not anybody listen to his kind of music. Obviously justin Bieber is more popular than him too, but anyone smart would say bieber has more musicianship than him. Slash isn t half the musician that govan is and if you knew something about music, you would know this (and i love Slash by the way). The fact that hans zimmer chose govan to play on his world tour should make you think about how good and important as a musician he is. Je doesn t care about popularity, he isn t a rock star, he always played mainly jazz/fusion (even though he can shred as malmsteen or gilbert and can also play every kind of music). The fact he s less known is just because people (like you) are ignorant about music and usually the masses have bad taste and poor music knowledge. That s why pop exists and it s so popular

i don't think he hates youtube, he just doesn't like to have a video of every performance he does uploaded... he's not always 100% happy with what he played and understandably doesn't like to have those bits circling the nets. i don't think he ever disappoints, but he has high expectations on himself, so i understand that :)

I think something is wrong with modern music system. The best guitarist, and very good singing, and most of all, this music is very touching. How come I just found this? and out of 17000 people, only 200 people liked it !!! Not only it's hard to find a quality content these days, garbage clips/musics ruined modern world people, unable to tell "This is the music."

When guthrie just noodling on the guitar in an interview he makes this weird noises and just non-sense but when he improvise on a song its always mind blowing, always a pleasure to hear.

It seems odd to me that I'm saying this given the lack of technicality but, this is some of Guthrie's best work. It's a shame the guitar part isn't longer. Guthrie is the kind of guy you kinda want to hate just a little because he is so dam good but, you just can't hate him because he is so dam good. Plus, he seems to have an excellent personality and a lack of shitty ego which, by all rights, he could have were he so inclined.

If it helps, you can download a free app called JamUp, and you can slow down the song all that you want. That's how I learned it (except for the solo, haha). It's a difficult song, still!

He is a Great Guitar Player. Every Guitarist has " missed a note " in a live performance ( at one time or another ) and that includes: Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson, David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Steve Howe, Tommy Emmanuel, Steve Stevens, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Al DiMeola, & Carlos Santana = All Phenomenal Guitar Players ( among many others / not mentioned ). Still an Awesome Performance.
