Not only is it our money we're going to have to spend it back with them anyway. I don't care if it's 1,200 dollars, or 10,000 dollars a lot of Americans live from check to check if they are out of work for three months the light bill rent water mortgage car insurance etc still will be coming out every month so why are they crying about loaning us our money to give right back to them anyway. I believe it only became a problem when it was time to send money to the working class people who keep the economy going there are no major corporations without the working class to rob from, and over charge from everything including cars to rent. Notice how long it took them to approve this bill, but they immediately gave stimulus money to Banks etc, and they approved far more than 1,200 dollars, because they know how much expenses it cost for banks to operate, and they also know 1 1,200 dollar check is not going to get working class people who are out of work caught up with there bills much less put them ahead. Three months out of work for a lot of people is easily over ten thousand dollars of debt accumulated just off daily living expenses. Actually with as little money as they claim to be given us they might of came out better saying everybody bills are paid until they resume work; that way you can start back over on level ground.
Bottom line, WERE NOT GETTING ANYTHING, MY RENT IS $850, CAR NOTE, INSURANCE🤔 HMMMM, AMERICANS WILL BE PLAYING CATCH UP FOR MONTHS! TOTALLY FUCKED UP!

I was on board until you started making stuff up. The bill took long because it kept being rejected by the Dems in which they've included their own 1400 pg bill which half of it had nothing to do with aiding citizens. Around page 700 it included pump money into their salaries. But no stimulus bill went directly to banks. It talked about pumping money to small and corporate businesses to keep afloat once reopening

redlightrunner Waived doesn’t mean you still don’t have to pay, it just gives you more time to pay. Those landlords have mortgages which still need to be paid.
Why should you get two months rent and utility free, a majority of people still have to pay their bills.
If your landlord house foreclosed after 2 month no payment, you will still be kicked out not by your landlord, but by the foreclosure bank.

Yep. I get $0 because I am a stay at home mom for our young kids. I started applying for teaching field jobs and then Coronavirus and shutdown happened. It messed up my job search pretty badly and I get $0 stimulus. At the risk of sounding non teacher like, this is bullshit!

Most people on Social Security, hereafter I'll call SSI, (not all) have worked hard their whole life and paid in taxes and are suffering from the lack of ability to do things as well as many things going up in price. Plus no one can predict how long this will go on, so the SSI receiving parties could benefit from a extra little bit to help. Besides what you don't probably really realize is that those on SSI often can't even pay their own normal bills with the amount that SSI provides to them and rely on being able to go to places like food pantry or dollar stores or their churches for help. They can not do this during the outbreak because of social distancing and for most SSI recipients, they can't even go to a grocery store because it's recommended they shelter in place. With stores charging a lot to deliver, I can imagine how much it'll cost in the end run for those who can not go to a store.

Tyler Haugland that’s interesting. I’m in a similar boat. Parents claimed me in 2018 and was planning on claiming me again in 2019. I filled and received my refund already as a dependent. But now I want to amend it and file as independent but not sure if it’ll all work out.... wish they would just pay everyone who worked a certain amount of time in 2018 or 2019.

@@jeffersoncochran1906 Probably wouldn't of needed the money if your President would have acted sooner. They were trying to protect the everyday citizen from what happened back in 2007/2008 where all the companies that got bailouts did very little hiring of people after the recession.
This bill is terrible for a number of reasons:
1. It's based off of tax filings, not the current situation. What about people who made over $75k but were laid off due to this crisis? What about homeless people or the unemployed?
2. It does not help the poorest people WHO ACTUALLY NEED IT!
3. It once again focuses on bailing out corporations. That money should be going to the people, who would put it right back into the economy. Or to hospitals.
4. It's a one time payment.
5. It doesn't make the test and TREATMENT free at the point of service.
You don't understand money. Why does someone that makes over 100k get a check? Why should someone that makes under $2500 get a check? They don't need it. This check is meant for the poor and the hard workers.
This check is meant to be spent to keep our economy afloat. Rich people will just save it and not do a single thing to help.
I won’t be getting one either, but that’s fine, they need to help the elderly, lower income and middle class to keep food on the table and help pay for essentials they need. They should freeze all the house payments and credit card bills with no interest added and add the payments to the ass end on the term. I am praying that they pass this, I'm out of work, I applied for unemployment 3 days ago and I know that it's going to take a while for the first check to come in. I bought enough food for the next two weeks but my kids are bored and hungry all the time, I'm trying to control their eating and taking advantage of free school lunches. I am worried about paying my bills and my school loans just like millions of Americans right now. It's hard to not get stressed while sitting at home without getting paid.

I hear there’s the possibility of a piece of legislation that would replace “qualifying child” with “dependent” for the $500 credit, but I’m doubtful about it gaining enough traction go get it passed. And to the person that said I live at home, I do now because my school closed. I lived off campus so I could’ve stayed there, it’s not like I was kicked out of campus housing. And I pay my rent. Don't give up yet. Several Gov web sites I've read look like if you are on SSA retirement, SSI. Railroad retirement, or SSDI, you will get a check. NO ONE on the low end gets $600. They threw that out a few days ago. (Unless they slipped it back in)

Exactly, we made $30,000 less in 2019 than we did in 2018 and that makes all the difference. Currently we won't be getting any stimulus or very little because of income that was too high from two years ago and if they went off income from 2019 we would be getting the full shot. We're not poor so either way we will still be okay.

People on SSI get far more than a lot of us on SS and they get all medical and big breaks on rent, food stamps, and housing and utilities, us on SS in the low income bracket don't get those breaks and only get 14 dollars a month in good stamps...we have to struggle day by day...

You talked about tax liability being a basis. Well as an independent contracted newspaper carrier, I earned in my 1099 forms over $28k in 2019 and didn't file in 2018. However once the standard mileage deduction was applied, I owed $0 and got a $0 refund check, in fact the tax filing system didn't even have a place for me to put a bank account since I did not owe and it was a free tax service. I did put in a bank account number in 2017, however. Does that mean I don't qualify because my "business tax liability" on the $28K was over $5500 it says in my return.
