Wow , absolutely great episode . Fantastic scenery . Your vlogs are not to be missed , wishing you all the best in your endeavors , please keep sharing your adventures and advice !
Hey Adam, it’s almost 4AM and I’m sat here watching yet another one of your videos. I’ve been binge-watching your channel several hours today and wanted to let you know that I think your work is amazing, both your video production quality and your final product stills. It’s obvious in so many ways how much thought you put into all of it, and for those who look hard enough to see the subtleties and nuances in your work (e.g. the way you move that aerial camera, your choice of music, compositions, etc) there is yet another level of artistry and craftsmanship to be appreciated. Thank you for sharing and revealing it all in such a wonderful way. I hope that’s some day I’ll be able to join you and the gang on one of your photo adventures - it looks like you guys are having such good times. Keep up the great work Uncle Grumpy 😊
After reading the comment there is nothing I can add. Its a facto you have some of the top videos dealing with photography on RUclips..... Bar None. Again Thank You so much for all the effort and Knowledge you put into your work.
Well done. Love your compositions in all your work! Haven't seen better from any other Nature/landscape photographer. You're teaching me new things!! Yes the snowfall was awesome! I got some great shots in and around Nanaimo that day as well! The locals on Vancouver Island love the snow (as long as it doesn't last more than a few days😉) We are so fortunate to live in such an amazing place.
Just arrived at your channel. What a lovely video, the journey through how you set up your shots and the beauty of the photography and drone work has ensured that I have subscribed to your channel.
I really believed you when you said light was the most important thing in landscape photography. Now I know their is something of greater importance. 😊. It was a good day in the snow. Absolutely beautiful. And I can believe your images would have great commercial appeal. They may only be attracted by the light in the composition but that may be good enough. Thanks for sharing.
Every week my jaw drops at the beauty of this place and your photos. I know I have said it before, but I can't believe how stunningly beautiful this place is. You are so lucky to be living in this part of the world.
I like your still photos!!!!! They are what I hope to do in the future, just stills. Wish you would talk about the camera settings. Maybe your next video!!! Very Good!!! RAW!!!!!! You do not look grumpy :)))
Serene AND wild images, another great watch, i look forward to watching you work. I think it is the hardest thing to do when you take a shot, you have to allow the viewer to see exactly what you saw when taking images and to allow the emotion of that moment to shine through. Many times i have been disappointed with the image i shot simply because it did not reflect what i saw. You have a flair for showing how things really are, love your work.
Thank you, Jillian! Like most things I think that the art of seeing is a skill that can be improved upon with practice. I probably have the advantage that I've been doing this full time for many, many years and have a pretty good idea what I am looking for before I even reach an area. There is a great book that you might like, perhaps you've already read it called The Art of Seeing by Freeman Patterson? If not you should check it out. Thank you! www.freemanpatterson.com/book2.htm
Many thanks Andy, i will acquire it, my passion is photography, but i have problems when i look at anything with angles, my shots go to pieces. I will try harder. Thanks for your help Andy.
Another excellent presentation Adam... The drone footage is first rate & adds a really nice dimension to it... Glad you took the low to the water photo, despite how busy the background was, the snow covered rocks in the foreground is what made the shot work imo... The final portrait of the waterfall with the green water & the red cedar log in an otherwise very white scene was lovely too... Thank you, Bill Farr...
Vanilla chocolate bon bons . Oh so easy to remain here on the couch getting chubby , letting you do all the heavy traipsing . But thanks for your creative mastery . Lovely as always .
Your drone flying skills are impressive..... under bridges, skimming the waters surface and dodging and weaving around branches and tree trunks. All make for very enjoyable videos. Thanks
Although I know nothing about flying a drone, I'd agree that your skill with it is very evident. The manoeuvres under the bridge and out of the woodland are lovely !
Well a big thank you to Karen for sponsoring this vlog Adam. It seems these winter wonderlands are quite the theme this week given the recent weather where you are, the UK , and even here in NY. Kudos for a great outing. Cheers.
Really enjoyed how the 8:20 image of the waterfall subframed by the tree branches came out, fantastic B-roll too! Your video quality has incredibly improved too. Really enjoyed this video!
Wow! I love this video. Satisfying for its beauty, candor, and inspiration. Thank you Adam. I am glad to see that you have posted more videos to enjoy and learn from. My appreciation from Gabriola Island.
Adam, I really think you have found the perfect balance between teaching how to look at a scene and use the light, cinematic beauty in your drone and panning shots, and all around general feel in these videos. I never get tired of seeing what you put out. Hopefully some day I will be able to attend a workshop or go shooting with you. Cheers Adam.
Thanks again, James! It's all good fun for now, I must admit I am getting more and more into the video side of things. The only problem that I am having is carrying all of the gear, that can curb creativity somewhat.
Thanks for some inspiration as winter approaches here in Ontario. I need to find a pair of muck/water boots to get out in some of the creeks and rivers around here once the snow comes.
Really enjoyed this vlog, The whole package . Behind every great man is definitely a understanding and supportive woman ha!!. They know when we should go do our thing. Thanks again Adam :)
An understands my wife is defo my good lady let’s me play when I want haha. Love the colour of the water it’s got a nice blue green tone. Your footage is wicked tells a great story. I need to work on my b roll
Another great vlog. Your cinematography is awesome, and make you the best photography v-log on You Tube. The others in this genre are more about "Social Media" and about them instead of the images. BTW. is that your tripod head or the jack for the van? :-) Dam that thing must weigh a ton! Be careful leaning it against the fence, and if it starts to fall don't be a hero and try to save it or you will end up in the river. Great work Adam.
Thanks, Jim! You're right about social media, unfortunately if you want to make a go of it in photography you have to be involved in it and promote yourself through social media. To be honest even though I have a bit of a presence on Instagram, Facebook and so on I'm really not interested in it. For me RUclips is a bit of a compromise, I subtly try to promote myself, workshops or whatever but still try to offer some useful info about photography and a bit of entertainment, it's difficult and I can see why people do push the social media. Regardless thanks so much for the support, very much appreciated.
Outstanding, your channel subscriber count does not match your ability to produce top quality videos.. Kudos on a cracking video, thank you for sharing.
Excellent video video again Adam. I’m really inspired every time becouse you mensioning every detail your looking for your photo’s. Like the green water!
Thanks, Adam, a lovely video. You really took advantage of the snowfall and got some beautiful images. I loved the videos that showed the patterns of snow on the tree branches with the water moving behind, it tells a wonderful story. As the previous comment said, your drone footage was magnificent, rising high about the forest, such a great perspective. Many thank, again.
I used the last days of cold weather too. Visited a gorge close to my home to photograph ice details. Something I have not done for a long time. Love to photograph in winter time also because of the snow covered trees. Greetings Jürgen
Thanks, James! Almost a year now, yeah I don't get the whole logarithm thing with RUclips, still the channel is growing slowly so it's all good. Thanks!
What a wonderful beautiful video, with great photo shots Adam! Loved those 2 first Images and your Image at 11:53, with the snow on the stone in the river.
Stunning location made even more beautiful by the snow. Wonderful images Adam and the usual great drone footage. It’s amazing how much snow there has been in the northern hemisphere this winter, we’ve been snowed in for a couple of days with 4’ drifts, even th snowplough couldn’t get through! Thanks for another very entertaining vlog. All the best.
Thanks, Trevor! On the west coast we haven't had that much snow. The mountains have been getting lots of snow, Vancouver just rain, although it has snowed the last couple of weeks. In all honesty I'm kinda looking forward to spring, haha.
I look forward to your videos because you explain what you see in nature that might be possibilities of a good shot...or not. It's important for us not on your trek to understand both views. And what makes a shot, like the green water in the flowing river. Never would have realized that a polarizing filter would be useful in a situation like this: snow, water, and somewhat overcast overhead. In future videos, could you spend a short time discussing what factors you considered in exposure for your stills? And how you got the bright & saturated evergreen greens in the drone shots, right next to the white snow on the trees.
Haha, thanks, Gary! I did hit a tree branch while flying over the river, luckily the drone recovered perfectly just before hitting the water. I would imagine the new Mvic Air would be great with the rear facing cameras? Thanks, again
Another good one Adam. Have you been down to French Creek the last couple of days? The water colour is amazing due to the herring run should be able to get some great shoreline stuff.
If the most important thing in photography is to have a partner that supports you, I am in trouble, but who GIBBS a shit, I will photograph anyway.😉👍 Big fan!
Another nice blend of drone, stills and video. Amazing to see how things change when you add some snow to the mix. I was thinking to myself that the snow covered bridge behind you whilst you were photographing upstream would make for a neat image right about the time you mentioned it but those beautiful, pesky snow-covered limbs might impede the frame. One of the many challenges of woodland photography I suppose but you seem to navigate those waters well. It seems that the drone could be used to scout for you in certain locales and I was wondering if you use it for that purpose at all? Cheers Adam, thanks for sharing!
I almost lost the drone on this excursion, I hit a tree branch right over the river, luckily it recovered before hitting the water, haha. I don't use the drone for scouting so much but should do more aerial stuff. The Mavic is not great for photography as the sensor is pretty small.I do have a larger drone that is fantastic for photography but a pain to carry. Thanks, John!
Hi I love the first photo of the waterfall I am not hat good with photos like that. Would you be able to tell me your setting please so next time I can try it please. Thanks :-)
Agree with the other comments. Amazing vlog. Feel fortunate to live in Nanaimo. Q: do you sell any of your drone shots? Also, can you still an image from a drone shot? That opening video shot would also make an amazing photo. Is the res to low? Thanks for these!! And thanks Karen!
I have done. I have two drones, unfortunately the larger of the two is great for photography but I use it little because of its weight. I've never made an image from the video footage, I would imagine that the print would have to be reasonably small to maintain quality, i'll have to give it a go. The Mavic does takes stills but I rarely use it for that. I'm hoping that the new Mavic coming out in the next month or so has a larger sensor, mind you my visa card will not be happy ;-) Thanks, Kelly!
Are you a painter?,iḿ too,was a few days past by here "The beast of the east " and it was snowy on the beach too,It was so special to us ,In many many years itsnt look this ,but the next day it was dessapear. Please ,i put my attention in these things do you put in your boots ,whatś their name and where i can buy ?(amazon?),thank you
Not really a painter but I do paint now and then. The boots are made by a company called www.muckbootcompany.com they have all sorts for different needs. Thank you Joseba!
Beautiful...So on the shot when you framed the waterfall with the overhanging trees. Did you take a quick shot of the limbs focusing on them because of the wind (movement) and stack the shots? Just curious because that happens to me quite often where I am from.
Thanks, brian! I took a number of shots with the intention of combining them later, slow shutter for the falls, faster shutter for the moving limbs. When I checked them out there was no need to combine them as there were a few lulls in the wind so I captured it all in one shot.
Question. For your "Pull back" drone shots, do you fly backward, or do you fly forward and run the video backward? I love them either way. Great stuff.
Both. Of course it's hard to play backwards when there are moving objects such as water. In this video I had to reverse because of the river. The new Mavic Air and I suspect the new Mavic pro yet to be released have cameras on the rear so no fear of crashing. I did hit a tree in this video while I was flying over the river, luckily it recovered before hitting the water, pheww! lol
Great photos and even better videos. You are raising the bar once again with your fabulous work.
Thanks, Tom!
Wow , absolutely great episode . Fantastic scenery . Your vlogs are not to be missed , wishing you all the best in your endeavors , please keep sharing your adventures and advice !

Very much enjoyed this one with the balance of commentary, images and drone b-roll.
Fantastic images. Beautiful work with the drone.
Thanks, Derek!
Thanks, Karen - for letting Adam play! Thanks, Adam - for my weekly dose of inspiration!
Haha, thanks, Michael!
Thanks to Karen for letting you out to play ! .... another great vlog Adam, entertaining and educational.
I will and thank you, David!
Brilliant mate. Another really enjoyable watch.
Alister! Thanks for watching! How's the drone flying going?
stunning image, love the footage from the drone
Just enough snow to make everything beautiful, not enough to slow ya down.
Another brilliant vlog. Your drone footage and editing is top notch 👍
Adam. Could you please let me know what brand of crampons you use on your muck boots. Thanks in advance.
After reading the comment there is nothing I can add. Its a facto you have some of the top videos dealing with photography on RUclips..... Bar None. Again Thank You so much for all the effort and Knowledge you put into your work.
Wow what a beautiful place. Great video, thanks for sharing!
It is truly a pleasure to see your work. Thanks so much.
Simply beautiful!!! And so relaxing to watch with the music choice...
Thank you, Claude!
OMG - 3:25 into video - Wow would be understating the obvious - Well done Adam.
A very nice visual treat. Thanks Adam, or more correctly, Thanks Karen...
Lovely work Adam, amazing area.
Cheers, Michael!
A superb vlog. Probably your best to date. Excellent quality and some fantastic images. Thank you.
Cheers, Michael!

Just arrived at your channel. What a lovely video, the journey through how you set up your shots and the beauty of the photography and drone work has ensured that I have subscribed to your channel.

I am indeed very fortunate to live in this part of the world. Canada is a great place to escape the rest of the world if need be. Thank you, Marieta!
This magical winter wonderland leaves one breathless!!! Extraordinary footage Adam.
It's like another world... beyond beautiful! Thank you!
Thank you, bellamoonnature!
I like your still photos!!!!! They are what I hope to do in the future, just stills. Wish you would talk about the camera settings. Maybe your next video!!! Very Good!!! RAW!!!!!! You do not look grumpy :)))

Haha, I like bon bons, truth be told I haven't been quite as active as may come across, it is great to get outside though for sure. Thanks, Peter!
It truly was a winter wonderland. Stunning. Your shots were great as well. Thanks for the teaching and video.
Thank you, Bob!
Your drone flying skills are impressive..... under bridges, skimming the waters surface and dodging and weaving around branches and tree trunks. All make for very enjoyable videos. Thanks
What you didn't see is me crashing the drone, haha. I did hit a tree over the river but it had a beautiful recovery before it hit lol. Thanks, Doug!
Although I know nothing about flying a drone, I'd agree that your skill with it is very evident. The manoeuvres under the bridge and out of the woodland are lovely !
I'm wondering if you get special permission to fly the drone in a provincial park? Or, do you need it?
Well a big thank you to Karen for sponsoring this vlog Adam. It seems these winter wonderlands are quite the theme this week given the recent weather where you are, the UK , and even here in NY. Kudos for a great outing. Cheers.
Thank you, Miguel! Love it when we have snowy conditions like these.
Really enjoyed how the 8:20 image of the waterfall subframed by the tree branches came out, fantastic B-roll too! Your video quality has incredibly improved too. Really enjoyed this video!
Thanks, Patryk! it can only get better with practice, cheers!
hence why passion is key :)
How fabulous those aerial shots look Adam...thank goodness for your skilled piloting and DJI drones.
Thanks!
Gorgeous photos Adam. I love your composition of the snowy rocks. You are so blessed to live in that area. Love your drone shots.
Thanks, Anthony! Yes I am very fortunate to live in Canada.
Wow! I love this video. Satisfying for its beauty, candor, and inspiration. Thank you Adam. I am glad to see that you have posted more videos to enjoy and learn from.
My appreciation from Gabriola Island.
You live in a nice part of the world Raymond. Looking forward to meeting you, cheers!
Please contact me if you are ver coming in the area.
Great vlog as always Adam. The drone footage is impressive, especialy the bridge shot. Beautiful photos also. Thank you for sharing them with us!
Thank you! Very much appreciated.
Great vlog and beautiful images Adam. That foot bridge shown in your video I thought would make a nice composition also. Keep up the great work 😉
Thanks, Richard! Yeah I wish I had taken a few aerial stills of the bridge, I think it looked better with a slightly elevated view for sure.
Adam, I really think you have found the perfect balance between teaching how to look at a scene and use the light, cinematic beauty in your drone and panning shots, and all around general feel in these videos. Another great segment. Loved the bridge drone shots. Winter snow has that magic look about it. Now get back to your house renovation work.
Thanks, Tom! Yes, sir! haha.
Love the videography with that creepy music, evokes emotion.
Haha, creepy? as long as it evokes emotion I'm good with that, thank you, dasp125!
Educating and inspiring video. Subscribed!
Thanks for some inspiration as winter approaches here in Ontario. I need to find a pair of muck/water boots to get out in some of the creeks and rivers around here once the snow comes.
Another video I’m going to enjoy watching several times, thanks Adam 😉
Good to hear, thank you, Tony!
Absolutely stunning scenes and photographs, would love to travel here from London to shoot these Landscapes.
I guess so, London is a little different, haha. I'm assuming you mean London UK and not London Ontario? Thank you. Luke!
haha Yes London UK :-)
Really enjoyed this vlog, The whole package .
Behind every great man is definitely a understanding and supportive woman ha!!. They know when we should go do our thing.
Thanks again Adam :)
That's for sure, haha. Thanks, Nathan!
Parksville looks like a very inspiring place to live, great vlog mate . . . . ps, add my thanks to Karen for letting you out 😁😁
An understands my wife is defo my good lady let’s me play when I want haha. Love the colour of the water it’s got a nice blue green tone. Your footage is wicked tells a great story. I need to work on my b roll

Defenitly one of my favorite photographers. Love your work.
Good to hear, thanks, Jerry!

So beautiful
Outstanding, your channel subscriber count does not match your ability to produce top quality videos.. Kudos on a cracking video, thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Ginger! I think 'm going to change my titles, something like 10 Shocking ways to shoot in a blizzard or something like that, haha.
Adam Gibbs Came back, forgot to hit the like button!
Excellent video video again Adam. I’m really inspired every time becouse you mensioning every detail your looking for your photo’s. Like the green water!
Thank you, Paulus!
Es increíble el lugar, espectacular y muy evocador, gracias por mostrarnos un lugar tan mágico.
Gracias, muy apreciado

Most definitely! the hardest part is usually getting to the location, haha. Thanks, Jurgen!
Winter Wonderland indeed - amazing! The footage around 9:50 was beautiful. Well done Adam
Thanks again, James!
Great cinematography, great compositions and use of light.
Love your photos and videos Adam. Don't know how long you've been at this RUclips thing, but you should definitely have more subscribers.
Thanks, James! Almost a year now, yeah I don't get the whole logarithm thing with RUclips, still the channel is growing slowly so it's all good. Thanks!

Brilliant and interesting vlog adam, superb imaged and stunning arial shots. The tripod looks heavy lugging it around your shoulder
Thanks, Jim! Yeah that tripod I only use for short hikes, the video head is hefty.
Beautiful images Adam, thanks for taking the time to do this.
My pleasure, thanks, Rich!

Thank you, Wei! I'll see what I can do and try to keep up with the exposure information. Thanks again.
Fantastic vlog this week Adam. Loving the risky drone shots. Production has definitely gone up a couple of gears. Wonderful to see.
Haha, thanks, Gary! I did hit a tree branch while flying over the river, luckily the drone recovered perfectly just before hitting the water. I would imagine the new Mvic Air would be great with the rear facing cameras? Thanks, again
Beautiful tkx
Beautiful place, beautiful winter, beautiful vlog!
Another good one Adam. Have you been down to French Creek the last couple of days? The water colour is amazing due to the herring run should be able to get some great shoreline stuff.
I haven't, I'm in the area I'll have to go and have a quick look. I did notice all of the fisherman out there, quite a sight. Thanks, Dwight!
Thanks Caren! ❤
I am watching this video again, i can't believe it was a year ago, time flees .
It sure does.
Thanks for posting today! It’s raining here in Spain and I’m stuck on the sofa!! Great vlog as always, looks fantastic with the drone footage 👍👍👍
Thank you, Paul!
If the most important thing in photography is to have a partner that supports you, I am in trouble, but who GIBBS a shit, I will photograph anyway.😉👍 Big fan!
haha, good one, thanks, Celso!
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing
Cheers, Tony!
Stunning images again but your video work is fantastic. Have the B.C. tourist board heard about you?? Great advert for an amazing place 😁
Thanks, runinblue! thanks for the suggestion, perhaps I should get in touch.
Like all your videos.. very inspiring!
Thank you, Valeriy!

Adam Gibbs Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to the next vlog! I’ve been telling my photography and international friends about your channel. :)
How do you prepare your tripod for placing it in the water?
I don't! I just dry it out afterwards
Great video Adam. What filter set do you use?
I usually use breakthrough Photography screw on filters but in the video I use the Lee system as it fits my Nikon 14-24mm lens. Cheers!
what kind of camera is in your drone? It was so awesome to see the land from that point of view. Thank you
It's just a DJI Mavic, 1st version. Sorry not sure on the size of the sensor. Cheers!

We Truly live in paradise , but unlike your Karen my boss would not be so understanding. Great video.

I did hit a tree in this video while I was flying over the river, luckily it recovered before hitting the water, pheww! lol
I thought the framing of the image at the 7 minute mark of the video was well done.
Cheers, Douglas!
