Adam Gibbs hard water variety? Would not have thought that you would need it there.. i am in the Thames Valley and water is pretty crap, so I usually have Tetley. Yorkshire tea in Yorkshire is epic though!
Thank you for carrying all that gear for our viewing pleasure, it really does add tremendous production value. The final sequence was particularly mesmerising, Vancouver Island looks like a photographer's paradise. The head gear works well for covering up the morning hair - another good tip👍
I never comment about anything on RUclips. But all your hard work is noticed and appreciated. My favorite artist on RUclips. Look forward to all your videos.
I just now have seen this. It's another wonderful vlog, Adam! The effort you put forth is well appreciated. It takes time and devotion to set up a shot, then crawl back in bed, then wake up again. I'm glad you didn't get your camera wet driving through that puddle. Glad you didn't crash your drone going through that tree! Superb work from start to finish! Many thanks for all you do!
Adam, your videos are wonderful, please keep doing these magnificent natural adventure videos. I would like to see a video which takes you from idea to concept, through site selection to photo selection and finished product. A video covering your thoughts on each step of your process. Great work, cheers.
Simply stunning Adam. Such great work not only with your photography, but with your video skills as well. The quality of your videos are truly first rate. I enjoy watching them each new upload. Especially liked the little canyon and waterfall at the end of this one. Truly a special place.
I'm loving these West Coast VLOGs. I did a fair amount of visiting and hiking on the island about 15 years ago but its been a long time since then. It's really a magical place. I've lived on the prairies for the last decade and it gets difficult finding new landscapes to shoot. It might be time to make another trip out there. Now if only it wouldn't cost thousands of dollars in fuel!!!
Adam, truly awesome shots, been a fan for some time now and you never disappoint. Glad you're a fan of my favourite tea ,produced 60 miles away from me,
Wow, the true scale of those trees and rocks is only reveled when we see you in the video climbing them. Incredible landscape! I always enjoy your videos and the beautiful photos you take. And great time lapse!
Oh man! Digging all these slider time-lapse shots. Kudos to you tracking on with an extra tripod and slider system, definitely makes a difference for the vlog. Another top notch episode, Adam! Cheers.
Another great video. Signed up for newsletter and will be looking to join in on the workshop next April. Hiking the West Coat Trail on July 30, for my third time. Will be hauling in some camera gear, looking forward to getting some costal pictures. Thanks so much for your channel!
I appreciate the time you take to make these beautiful videos. You're not only an excellent photographer but an excellent filmmaker as well. I look forward to more of your videos!
Playing a bit of catch up on your videos Adam. Definitely a nice way to reward myself after a busy and hectic few weeks. What strikes me the most from the places you go and photograph is the lack of people. Not sure if it's because the time of day or the lack of interest? Such beauty to have all to yourself. Excellent as always. Cheers.
Found your channel and subscribed due to Ben Horne's shoutout. Mesmerising landscape you are working in. I'd love to go to Vancouver at one point. Incredible how much gear you are carrying around but it paid off in beautiful videography! Those slider- and drone shots, wow! I mean you flew through the tree there (14:45)! Imho the pictures would have been more dramatic in black and white, but I liked them nonetheless. Looking forward to enjoying your channel.
I subscribe to a half dozen photographers and enjoy them very much but you have a special eye in your photography that I really enjoy. I'm also partial because I'm from Vancouver Island and admire the way you share it with the world. It's an amazing place. Your vlogs are truly awesome and better than any TV show I'd sit in front of. Congrats on the new slider! More gear. :) Mind you, IMO, the time-lapse of water and nature distracts from the beauty. But still a huge fan! Keep 'em coming. BTW, what's your accent? UK?
I agree allround, both about Adam but also about water in time lapse. The slide move in real time across the waterfall in the gorge was class on the other hand.
Thanks, Kelly! Yes, more gear, haha. You can never have enough. although the weight can be a bit of a burden on the creative side sometimes. I agree about the flow of water and Timelapse, haven't had a chance to use it for a sunset or rise yet so I am looking forward to that. I am from the UK, although I moved to Canada in 1979
Thank you for the reply! Just for the record, I could give a rats a&% where you're from. Just curious about the accent. My father is Australian and raised me here and when I grew up but after that I lived in Japan for over 20 years. Just detected a slight accent is all. Proud to have you share our beautiful country with the world. :)
You are a great storyteller. The addition of the motorized slider is another step in your storytelling journey. Since your last waterfall video though I wonder if you are three miles into the forest or only 3 meters ;-). Regardless, the result and the effect of your storytelling brings the viewer on the journey. Your affinity and love for the environment is obvious in every frame of your videos. Keep up the great work! For my part I will continue to live vicariously though your stories.
Thank you, Jim! Haha, you'll never know how far I am from the car. Actually, in this case, it's a bit of a walk to the first falls but not more than a couple of KM. I don't think that I would want to carry all of that gear too much further, would be a drain.
Another great video Adam, your art of storytelling and video production is among the best. Thanks for making such intriguing content. I have leaned at lot from watching you and looking forward to my next trip to the island and it is unlike anywhere. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the next one.
If Adam Gibbs isn’t the best RUclips photographer and presenter here on RUclips I will give it away. Great presentations and very informative indeed. Have subscribed Sniper Photography Australia
Gosh I enjoy your videos, they really are the full package for information, editing and your amazing videography techniques. You certainly almost manage to tell the story of the image and also relay your passion for the landscapes. Once again I regret not being allowed to fly because I would love to be able to attend one of your workshops. Great video all the way through, and thank you for all the work you put in to them.
I love all of the images but I was especially intrigued by the mystery contained in the last "entrance" shot of the canyon. Have you thought about shopping the video and time-lapse shots to the local travel bureau? I think you could make a short film that would be great for the Vancouver Island tourism bureaus. I also wanted to thank you for the recommended link in the last video. The underwater whale photography was really moving.
Hi Adam, Greetings from Tasmania, Australia. Really enjoying your videos. One thing that strikes me is how similar your rainforest is there compared to ours - I guess they're both temperate. Also I was looking at Vancouver Island on Google Maps and was shocked to see that you have a very big logging issue over there, as do we here.
Yes very similar. And yes it is criminal to see old growth forest being cut down. We have very little left and our governments can never seem to see past the short term $ signs. Very sad but it seems to be a worldwide phenomenon. I am not opposed to logging but in Canada, we cut down our great forests and sell the raw logs to other countries, just criminal. All I can say is that I am very fortunate t be able to photograph some of the forests that are left before they're gone as well.
Fantastic as always , Adam . Only thing I would like to see is a little more regarding lens choices , settings and reasoning behind all . Though the footage is fantastic and I never miss an episode , more "instructional" narrative on occasion would be helpful to a novice ? Beautiful .
I was just up there recently. The stream that goes up to that waterfall is so overgrown right now. I go up at least twice a year and I've never seen it like that lol. I wonder if it is due to less foot traffic than usual or what.. I was thinking of bringing my kukuri from the car to clear the edge up a bit. But decided 1.) it's not my place to decide that and 2.) it was getting dark and I really don't want to swing through bush with a kukuri in the dark. Especially with how busy the camping down on the beach was.. I love that place.
Adam! the slider was wellllllllllll worth the time and effort. Gorgeous footage! your video footage over the course of your channel inspired me to start adding video footage to my landscape shoots and vacations. Cheers my friend. everything you do is topnotch! Steve
I thought the slider time lapses turned out rather well, but it did look like you were packing quite a load on the trail! Thanks for brightening my Saturday morning coffee! Expecting a big ice storm here in Onterrible so I may be house bound for a bit!
Another interesting location Adam. You navigate that drone through some very tight spots. You might have to consider getting a pack mule to carry all the gear that you use to make these great videos. One does wonder why some people feel it is their right to desecrate public and natural areas with graffiti and other destruction.
That's my next purchase, a goat to help carry stuff, haha. Yeah, it is a shame because it undermines everyone else enjoyment of a naturally beautiful area with selfishness.
You get to go to some amazing places and do stunning work.. love your work. Ps if I ever get time and money to fly over there, it be a trip of a life time.. !!!😎
Another enjoyable video Adam and I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish with your new slider. I often wonder how many miles you walk on your treks with all of the video work that requires you to walk in and out of the frame, packing up the gear, setting it up again, and so on and so forth. In the end, it all works quite well. That’s such a great area to explore, thanks for sharing!
lol.. I am a Yorkshire Tea person too :) That slot canyon looks cool if a little claustraphobic, images came out well. Alex Nail uses a rail for his time lapses too I think, great investment but looks cumbersome to take with you. Glad to hear your workshops went well. kind regards Alan
Seems to be the common theme, Yorkshire Tea, haha. believe it or not, there are probably more Brits here than the UK so Yorkshire Tea is readily available, we even get the gold blend, lol. Thanks, Alan!
Love the power slide Timelapse Adam! Agreed, the extra setup/teardown time was worth it. It added a new dimension to your films. Glad to hear that ALL made the best of it with your first workshop of this year:) I can't believe all this rain, low temps, and the lack of sunshine that's made for a very late spring here on the Island. I'm curious on what settings you use on your Mavic Pro and what you do to colour match your clips? It could make a good video lesson I bet! Also, the last timelapse in this clip, what was your fps x time? 🍻
Thanks, Richard! I'm working on a drone video, hopefully, by next week it will be out. Colour grading is hit and miss with me as I just adjust the contrast and occasionally add a bit of saturation. Frame rate on all of the timelapse is 24fps
I suspected that you were using a slider from the previous video. The motion makes all the difference and your time lapses are wonderful. The only downfall is that they are time consuming for just a few seconds of footage. The canyon time lapse was really nice and I suspect that this beach with a better light it will be transformed.
They are certainly time-consuming, although it's the setup more than the actual timelapse that seems to take the time. Still, for now, I'm really enjoying the process. Thanks, Marieta!
Always enjoy watching you adventures. That second location was beautiful, such a shame the amount of graffiti in that cave! I bet that took a while to clean up in post. Also lovely work with the slider again, how long does it take (shooting time) to capture those little clips?
The cloning doesn't take very long, it is a shame though, that's people for you, always need to leave heir mark. The timelapse take about 15 -20 mins to shoot. Night shots or lower light would take much longer since the shutter speeds are slower. Thanks, Luke!
Very lovely photographs! The timelapses with the sea moving I found it too jerky because of the waves. (It actually made me feel seasick -- video footage was no problem.)
Cinematography is really enjoyable, the waves in the time lapse could be smoothed out just for a more natural feel. But like all things it takes time, and some tutorials. Great job and thanks for all the hard work.
Fu** me, so much gear ;) Awesome timelapse ! Try to do a hyperlapse :P Awesome stuff Adam. Try to add some comments after the shot when You are home and watching this again ;)
I don't know it's not too tricky, you just have to make sure that you have a line of sight from either the rear or front of the drone and as you get near to an obstacle bring it in as close you feel comfortable doing. Must admit though that I have crashed a few times, haha. Thanks, Michael!
Beautiful shots as always Adam. Geez you’re gonna need a full time assistant to lug around all that gear for you! I’ve noticed your sliding timelapses (slidelapse?) in your recent vids - a very nice addition to your work... and worth the extra effort (although you’d be the best judge of that!!) Nice to see you get a shout-out from Ben Horne too in his most recent video 👍. Hope you enjoy the change of season! All the best.
Thanks, Richard! yes, the slider is fun for now but it is a beast to set up and carry. Bens shoutout was a nice boost to the channel. I guess you're coming into autumn now?
As always, an outstanding piece of video, Adam. Awe inspiring locations and wonderful images. You make me think I ought to get a drone. Speaking of which, was that bit in the old growth forest a reverse edit? Don't see how you could see what you were doing backing through but, then, I don't do those so maybe my imagination is letting me down. :)
Thanks, Stephen! The drone footage through the roots was all done in one shot, no reverse footage, I did speed it up by 30% otherwise, the clip would be way too long.
@@QuietLightPhoto Hi Adam, may I ask which hotel in Lake Louise you guys stayed in? Really like your tree image. One of my favs so far. Was it foggy or did you use dehaze?
I know, I'm thinking of getting a goat, lol. Gear is listed below the video description. For most of my videos, I use a Sony RX100Mark V, The sound is with a Lava mic and a small audio recorder, Zoom H1 I also use the DSLR for video as well, Nikon D850 Cheers, Douglas!
Adam, that's quite the patina you have in that stainless (sic) mug you're using. I must say there is a striking evolution of these earlier videos and what you're producing now. Still great content back then. Guess you're not using that slider much?
Hi Adam, Really enjoyed this current video, as always. Curious to know if you ever / often encounter bears on your hikes?...... looks like real bear country! Keep up the good work, Ash, Ireland
Another great video. I am going to be on Vancouver Island in May and now I am worried about condensation on camera. What do you do to dry your camera out and make sure it stays in good working order?
Hey Adam, your one of my favorit landscape channel right now. I have two questions.. do you have any Nd filters on your drone and do you color grading your videos. I have just go my drone myself. Btw.. you flying is epic 👍🏻
Thanks, Arwin House! I do use ND filters on the drone, especially important when you're filming moving subjects such as water. I do a bit of colour work on the footage but not too much. You'll love the drone, just start off using it conservatively until you get the hang of it. Did you get the Mavic Air?
Adam Gibbs okay, that was what I thought. I have struggled a bit with winter/snow landscapes and have no Nd. I thinking you’re doing a great job and I feel the colors are natural. I haven’t fly much due to dreadful weather. I got an Mavic Pro.. if the Air wasn’t WiFi connected I would go for the air. Now I need some practice and learn the settings. Thank you for the tips and such! 🙏🏻
What are your thoughts on rubber boots vs waterproof socks? My concern is that the rubber boots won't be as comfortable or offer the same support as hiking boots. I do, however, like the idea of rubber boots for wading into shin deep water instead of changing socks once I get somewhere that might require them. Of course socks are easier to carry than a second set of boots. Any experience, etc you can share?
For long hikes, I would go for hiking boots and perhaps waterproof socks if you felt a need for them. The Muck boots are very comfortable so you could probably hike in them quite a way, not a lot of support though.
Thanks for the reply. My basic issue is the ol 'getting a good angle' on a waterfall or stream. Right now, with my waterproof hiking boots I'm fine for a few inches, but to avoid water over the top I have to rock hop which is either unsafe/ill-advised or there are no rocks. It seems that it would be easier to just tromp straight into the water not worrying about the top of my hiking boots (not wading a river, just a few inches.) Another YTr I watch uses waterproof socks with sandals. (IE: he changes from hiking boots when needed.) which is why I asked to see if you've done that route as well.
Yorkshire Tea should of been the name of this episode hehe 😁 a cracking location, but like all us photographers always looking to the horizon for more 😁👍 still, stunning work Adam. As always really enjoyed the episode...
Yes, the Yorkshire tea seems to have hit a chord with many, haha. You're so right, always searching for techniques, gear and so on to improve, lol. Who knows what the future holds for photography. Thanks, Mali!
Err, no, haha. Already looked after two daughters and my partner is the exhausted nurse so I think for now I'd rather just keep to being an exhausted photographer, haha.
Some things from home you just can't live without! Good to see proper tea on the go in the van this morning....
Gold would've been better but the store had sold out so I had to settle for the regular, haha
Adam Gibbs hard water variety? Would not have thought that you would need it there.. i am in the Thames Valley and water is pretty crap, so I usually have Tetley. Yorkshire tea in Yorkshire is epic though!
You're right the water on the west coast is very soft, it is hard to find a decent brew though so I get whatever decent tea I can find, haha Cheers!
Adam Gibbs when in any country other than UK it can be pretty hard and glad you are suffering the delights of Lipton's Yellow!
Thank you for carrying all that gear for our viewing pleasure, it really does add tremendous production value. The final sequence was particularly mesmerising, Vancouver Island looks like a photographer's paradise. The head gear works well for covering up the morning hair - another good tip👍
Haha, that's why I always wear a hat, lol. Thanks, Kevin!
Yorkshire Tea... great choice.
I'm with you there.

bonjour, que d'efforts et de travail accompli pour obtenir des images toujours plus belles. bravo Adam, Chris.
Merci Chris!
Thanks Adam really enjoying the archival work
The moving water and panning works superb. Thumbs up to the D850.. Watched this to the very last second. Wonderful stuff indeed.
Thank you, Michael!
Hello Adam, as always stunning drone work, stills with gorgeous locations. Job done!
Thanks, Allan!
The Canyon shots are amazing!
Great location for unique shots. Love your drone work ~ quite special.
Excellent video. I especially like the images on your 2nd waterfall in the canyon. Stunning.
Adam, your videos are wonderful, please keep doing these magnificent natural adventure videos. I would like to see a video which takes you from idea to concept, through site selection to photo selection and finished product. A video covering your thoughts on each step of your process. Great work, cheers.
Really enjoyed this one. Some of the video and time lapse was superb. Loved it with the motorised rail added a new dimension 👍
Thanks, Kevin!
Simply stunning Adam. Such great work not only with your photography, but with your video skills as well. The quality of your videos are truly first rate. I enjoy watching them each new upload. Especially liked the little canyon and waterfall at the end of this one. Truly a special place.
Thanks again, Larry!
Amazing location, thx for share Adam :)
Beautiful video with great shots!
You are the Best Adam! I like all your videos and photographs. Your videos are very inspiring. I can't wait to see your next vlog.
Great and informative vlog adam. Beautifull images with superb lighting
Cheers, Jim!
love the time lapse scenes and slider work!!
I'm loving these West Coast VLOGs. I did a fair amount of visiting and hiking on the island about 15 years ago but its been a long time since then. It's really a magical place. Good to hear, yes I would imagine the prairies being a bit of a challenge.
Fantastic footage and images yet again mate. Well done!
fantastic, it is important to see quality. Understand how nature can be represented as a picture. Thanks, Jean Luc.
Thanks Jean Luc!
Another really enjoyable video Adam, thank you.
Favourite photography vlogger has upped the ante - in another class.
love the images in the canyon and the use of a slider on the video is very interesting, more creative potential.
Absolutely Gorgeous! I would love to visit Vancouver Island some day. Love it!
Thanks, Tammy!
Adam, truly awesome shots, been a fan for some time now and you never disappoint. Glad you're a fan of my favourite tea ,produced 60 miles away from me,
Usually, I would get the gold but the store had run out, lol. Thanks, Colin!
Great video I only found the one hidden waterfall but pulled off not to bad of a shot.
Wow, the true scale of those trees and rocks is only reveled when we see you in the video climbing them. Incredible landscape! I always enjoy your videos and the beautiful photos you take. And great time lapse!
Thank you, Ceilih!

I've never done the west coast trail. I've done the Nootka, Wildside, Juan de Fuca but not that one, lol. I guess I should. Have an awesome trip.
The artistry here Adam has a certain fidelity about it - a kind of devotion. Awesome work. Mark
Thanks, Mark! all in good fun, except for lugging the gear around, haha
Incredible video and photos as always ! Very inspiring and pushes me to be a better photographer!
I appreciate the time you take to make these beautiful videos. You're not only an excellent photographer but an excellent filmmaker as well. I look forward to more of your videos!
Thank you, Anton!
Very nice place and the time-lapse shots where amazing.
Thanks, Ray! I'm really starting to enjoy getting into time-lapse, really adds a different perspective on the landscape. Cheers!
Money well spent on the slider, adds another element to your videos. Great stuff 👍👍👍👍

Some of the areas most definitely have very few people, some of it is just the time of year. Sombrio gets very busy in the summer.

Stunning last sequence. The drone shot through the trees is amazing. And yep the jib is so worth it. Pity it was a long day though. Thanks again Adam.
Thanks, Tom! That was my crowning glory, flying through the tree roots, lol.
Adam Gibbs have told some friends to watch it. You might get more subscribers. Lol
That last area with the small "canyon" was stunningly beautiful. I would love to see that in person. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing
Cheers, Tony!
Superb!!! Superb!!!
+1 for Yorkshire Tea! - Fantastic video Adam!! Thank you.
Adam it was worth it, excellent video.
Adam
Excellent video/vlog and as always, jammed packed with information and wonderful ideas.
Much appreciated

Great video Adam, I especially loved that little canyon, spectacular.
Stunning video work gets better every week thank you
It realy is worth it Adam! Beautiful shots. Though a lot of stuff to carry!
Thank you!

Hi Adam! Two things to say today, I like the addition of the time-lapse and I love your work, all of it. That's all.

I agree, in this video, I was mucking about with the slider rig so much that I really didn't feel like talking much, lol. happens sometimes. Cheers!
Fantastic footage Adam. Love the mix of time lapse and drone footage. One of my favorite videos thus far. Keep up the great work my friend!

You get to go to some amazing places and do stunning work.. love your work. Ps if I ever get time and money to fly over there, it be a trip of a life time.. !!!😎
I do live in a lovely place and am very fortunate, thanks, Brett!
0:54 Holy smokes there is that york shire! Ima get that sooner or later because I am interested in the taste
My favourite so far is Scottish Blend, really love that tea but I can't find it here in Canada
@@QuietLightPhoto Why not order it off the interent?
Great video once again Adam, especially good to see you can get Yorkshire Tea over there in Canada, it will definitely set you up for a long day.
Yes, we even get Gold and the loose tea as well, woohoo, lol. Thanks, Jeff!
Thank you, John! Sometimes it can be a bit of a drag, especially when I'm tired but it's always a good feeling when it all comes together at the end.
Ty
Next time bring a bucket, haha. Well, it was my first effort with timelapse by the sea, next effort I have a few different ideas. Thanks!
I really enjoyed the video. One question though how do you get Yorkshire Tea Bags in Vancouver. I love the passion you always show in your videos.
Canada has more Brits than the UK, lol. Where there are Brits you will find Yorkshire Tea, hooray! Thanks, Ian!
Enjoyed this video. Please tell me how to get to the first falls from the car park? Thanks in advance!
Damn those drone sequences are cool. You get quite close to the branches, I guess I would instantly crash my drone ;-)
Another great video Adam! I wonder how many times you practiced that drone shot going through the tree to get this awesome footage :-) Cheers!
Thanks! Two runs and I was done. the entrance is quite big.
Great, thanks for response. Enjoying the group photo from Abraham Lake!!! Will your your weekend post be from there? Ash
Maybe ;-)
@@QuietLightPhoto Hi Adam, may I ask which hotel in Lake Louise you guys stayed in? Really like your tree image. One of my favs so far. Was it foggy or did you use dehaze?
my favorite vlog so far Adam, well done. You ever considered visiting South Africa?
Perhaps one day if the opportunity comes up, cheers!
You are going to need a Sherpa for all that gear. Speaking of gear... can you tell me what you are using for video and audio with the stabilizer.
I love the slider but it a pain to set up and carry
Hi Adam, Really enjoyed this current video, as always. Curious to know if you ever / often encounter bears on your hikes?...... looks like real bear country!
Keep up the good work,
Ash, Ireland
Lots of times. Lots of bear, cougar and wolves on the coast but they usually stick to themselves as long as you don't hassle them.
Another great video. I am going to be on Vancouver Island in May and now I am worried about condensation on camera. What do you do to dry your camera out and make sure it stays in good working order?
Thanks, Stephanie! I wouldn't worry too much Stephanie. It had more to do with my camera stuff getting wet the days before.
What’s the make and model of that van?
The van is a 1995 Mitsubishi Delica L400, extended version. Love it, just wish they still made them and that we could import newer versions.
Jings. Can we swap? You come and be an exhausted nurse. Look after my boy etc. And I'll come and do, whatever it is you do 😉 pretty please 🤣
Err, no, haha. Already looked after two daughters and my partner is the exhausted nurse so I think for now I'd rather just keep to being an exhausted photographer, haha.
So sad about graffiti in many places around the world, but seems to have been going on for thousands of years. It does spoil a dramatic photo tho.
