The Ghost of You is just a fucking classic. I really wish it got a lot more love. Best non single for ME is To the End. Fuckin love that discordant beginning and its just a ball of energy.
I discovered them via im not ok & helena but it was ghost of you that really cemented them for me as a band I love. If it wasnt for that song, im not sure I wouldve gone as hard on TBP as I did.
The Ghost of You is the first my chem song that got me into the band, the next song after that was cancer. That same day I bought their greatest hits and Black Parade albums and just fell in love.
Totally agree. I also love The Sharpest Lives and Mama. Obviously the whole album is a masterpiece, but these 3 songs are the highlights of the album for me.
Seeing Geoff express how he basically helped MCR become what they are now, and how he even influenced Frank to join them, it’s just magical and put a HUGE smile on my elder-emo face.
Pretty funny to hear Geoff talk about how their very first songs were not that good and more in the vein of NOFX... What a difference a few years and a Frank Iero can make.
The Foundations of Decay is a masterpiece, but The Ghost of You has spoken to me for 20 years. Black Parade is the emo anthem of the last 20 years and Famous Last Words is disgustingly good. They truly are one of the greatest bands to exist.
No one gives their first album as much credit as it deserves. The first 2 will always be their best IMO. I like the other stuff but I keep going back to those.
Yeah I wonder why Bert keeps avoiding anything related to MCR or Gerard?? him and Gerard used to be friends but their relationship became complicated when Gerard went sober while Bert was still doing drugs at the time, does Bert still hate MCR and Gerard or is he just trolling us by avoiding it?
It's a great one with a great message that stuck with me more than Black Parade because of being disabled my whole life and just being bullied for it outside my family and few friends I had.
Sleep and Disenchanted is so fucking memorable for me, they were like living in my head, touch my heart, I can feel the song in the air and the words they say, it just incredible. Obviously their whole discography is amazing, I almost can’t choose, but I’d say the answers they all saying, and this. It’s not a fashion statement it’s a deathwish, I never told you what I do for a living, party poison, demolition lovers. Ghost of you. Oh boy. It just a hard question to answer if you have so many great picks you can’t really choose one. Listening to every single words, every single notes, every single second, shut your mind and just listen, it’s like the feeling of ecstasy. 😂
I'm glad at least SOMEBODY said The Ghost of You... That would probably be my answer too.. Just such a deep song and really hits home as I was in a pretty dark place when 3 Cheers came out having just lost my mother not too long before... Hang 'em High would be up there too, Thank You For The Venom, just such an amazing album.. I think it stayed in my car's cd player for about a year.. I actually even bought a second copy so I could have one in my car and one in my multi-disk cd changer at the house, lol.
@@IxQuit dude same. I used to listen to the bridge in the ghost of you into Jetset to tune the world out as a teen. That album resonated so deeply that it’s in all our cells and bone marrow by now and that’s magical 🖤💔🐦⬛
Bullets: Early Sunsets Over Monroeville Three Cheers: Thank You for the Venom/I Never Told You What I Do for a Living Black Parade: The End./Mama Danger Days: Destroya
Famous Last Words is my favorite for sure, but I also like Prison, Mama, Foundations Of Decay, Vampire Money, Sleep, Demolition Lovers, and Na Na Na. I honestly think MCR is one of the few artists I listen to that I believe has no bad songs.
For me ''to the end'' have everything. Crazy guitars, crazy bridges, crazy solo and what Gerard does in the song is perfect, one of his best lyrics. One punch to the end.
having had a my chem fan account on instagram back in 2013 and growing up in gerard, mikey, and frank’s hometown (unsure about bob and ray) it is so special to me to see them coming back and performing and receiving so much love from all these other bands. feeling especially emo rn 🖤❤️🖤
He meant it as coming from a peer. Like how as a teenager when talking about another teenager you might say “man, that kids crazy!”. That’s the context he meant it in.
Yeah, but he's talking from their perspective of a new band that was looking for guidance. Geoff is literally younger, haha, but by the time MCR was going to record their first record, Thursday already had 2 albums, tours, and a label to their name.
Bullets: Skylines and Early Sunsets 3 Cheers: Thank You for the Venom and Cemetery Drive TBP: Welcome to the Black Parade and Famous Last Words Killjoys: s/c/a/r/e/c/r/o/w and Planetary(Go)
It’s crazy with really good bands you find yourself discovering new favorites.. my favorites right now are Demolition Lovers and It’s not a fashion statement it’s a deathwish
These answers are very, "tell me you don't really know their discography w/o saying you don't know their discography." My pick is, "It's Not a Fashion Statement, It's a Deathwish," for the record Your Honor.
Yep Mine is for the banger Sleep And for the ballad The light behind your eyes. I was blessed to be able to see them for the first time after their reunion and I would have given an eye tooth to hear them play The light behind your eyes. To my knowledge they've never played that on stage. Bummer. But if I'm wrong someone add a link if I can see it! Ironically, the show I went to they didn't play Sleep either so I was a tad crestfallen. But just a tad. 😊 Me seeing them live was literally number 2 on my Bucket List. 😂 O so blessed!
Sing was the very first song I was introduced to thanks to getting ready for school in the morning and turning on VH1 and MTV and them playing music videos early as frick in the morning. Had me in fcking tears loved it since. I didn't grow up on MCR sadly but I'm grateful to have been able listen to their music obsessively in my pre-teen to majorly in my teen years and to this day I love and listen to their music so much even my daughter likes it.
I fucking love this host/interviewer, man. If you could bottle up his enthusiasm and energy, I think most people would buy it. Clearly he is a true fan and a pleasure to talk to. I love watching his interviews.
Bullets: Drowning Lessons Three Cheers: Jetset/Deathwish Black Parade: Dead!/Mama/Famous Last Words haven't listened to danger days yet but as for Conventional Weapons: Boy Division
So weird seeing this pop up in my feed randomly, I've been listening to Three Cheers and Black Parade on repeat the last few weeks and I still know every word to every song on both albums, I love them all lol. I'm Not Okay was such an an anthem though, probably still my favorite.
Gotta have one for each album. Theres never just one out of all of them. For me its Bullets: Demolition Lovers or Drowning Lessons Revenge: tie between Fashion Statement and Helena TBP: Famous Last Words Danger Days: Planetary GO!
I love Hang ‘Em High, I’m not in love with the chorus as it’s repeated too much but the verses are front loaded to the front of the song, I love the spaghetti western opening and love the end. The chorus definitely is weak though. Really like Kiss the Ring, My way home is through you, and Vampire Money. Have to also shout out the bridge in Jetset life “slip into the tragedy you’ve spun this chamber dry” is epic.
My bands that I listen to with their Helenas and then there's Mayday Parade with my actual answer to this question 😅 Did not expect for someone to mention Save Yourself, but here we are 🙏🏻

Anthony is such a real one for picking Foundations of Decay

100%
It must feel good for MCR to have all of their peers love and respect their music. They’re legends for a reason
Their Desolation Row cover might one of the best covers in rock history

The ghost of you is just so beautiful, the music video is on another level too it's very well done!
idk if it's just me but "to the end" has a post-punk cadence that i really dig and feel like dancing to

Same dude. I got butterflies.
To hear Gerard tell it, he saw Frank in Pency Prep and said they needed a force like Frank because he was like a mini tornado. 😅
I'm so glad someone picked Thank You For The Venom.
Hearing that last one from Thursday is so important. Incredible insight.

honestly same 😭
fat chance, Bitch McCracken still hates gerard for deciding to taking care of himself
