- Filmed during Gerard Way's last Australian tour in 2015, we took the My Chemical Romance frontman comic book shopping and the Umbrella Academy creator did not disappoint. Picking up his favourite anime, manga and toys, now that My Chemical Romance has returned we thought it only fitting to share this glorious corner of Gerard Way's brain.

When you look at Gerard you always see such a small, gentle little being. He seems incredibly modest, shy even, and it would be easy to just look right past him. You almost forget that this is the absolute badass, sexy beast, with a voice that can tear down buildings. From three cheers to hesitant alien, this man is a fucking demon.

Reminder that he used to work for dc comics back in the 90s as an intern. Comic book culture is pretty chill tbh people either wanna talk books or characters I met Gerard at my local cbs about a month before his doom patrol run came out and we legit talked for about an hour about how superman books were at the time really good books and how he and his kid love the superman and jon Kent superboy dynamic

Tom Faye it’s actually more of Robin’s decision, at least originally. He made his own costume and went out on his first night against Batman’s orders. Why do you think it looks like something a circus acrobat would wear? Later on Nightwing comics would explain that Dick Grayson was born to be in the spotlight and to put on a show. It’s in his blood (he has a family of circus acrobats) so that’s what he tends to do and why he ends up going on his own anyway. Because even with those colours everyone still pays more attention to Batman.
I think one of the Robins did say this once, either in one of the movies or series.

Being an absolute fan of Doctor Who, Neil Gaiman & Dune I've been really happy to know that even tho I'll probably never meet him in person, unfortunately, we share some passions, some traits.

When I first heard of Gerard it was on MTV on a segment called you hear it first. Yes MCR was making waves as a new band but..they were discussing his work as an illustrator and his love for comics. As a comic book fan and wannabe comic artist I was intrigued by this before I loved MCR 🤘🏽
I went to this exact shop last year and then after a month I watched this video and was like “GERARD WAY WENT TO THIS COMIC BOOK STORE?!”

This guy is so down to earth qnd is such a lovely chap. He was doing a gig in my home town in the U.K. My friend took his daughter to watch it and she was a massive fan. After the show they waited outside with it hammering down with rain just to get a glimpse of him up close. And my friend said he he came up and spoke to everyone waiting and signed autographs. His daughter got emotional and cried Gérard asked if he could give her a hug and gave her a nice one. My friend said thank you to him and he said it was his pleasure. Then he turned to my friend qnd went do you want a hug. And my mate laughed and went nah its OK. Gerard laughed and said don't be silly everyone wants a hug and gave him a bro hug. Ever since my mate told me that story been fascinated by the man. Just seems a really cool guy.
