Oh, just wanted to put this. I read the first story some times ago and it came out, I don't remember if in the comment or update that the wife didn't "abort" she had a spontaneous abortion. Her pregnancy was harder that he let on, even in that month that she was "better" and the stress of finding out he cheated made her lose the baby. The husband was trying to manipulate the story for support

In most place you can't have an abortion at 4 months so that was a bit fishy when I first read it so I went to read the whole post and I was right. She called her bff during the night (she was sleeping alone) because she saw blood coming from down there. She didn't wake the husband and went to the hospital with her. Or something like that. We can probably find it again if he didn't delete the Post

My initial thought was that the wife sounds like she might be autistic. I am autistic. We are so picky that we will go to extremes not to eat foods we dislike. I have been in many situations where there was nothing on a menu I wanted to eat. I would cough up some excuse not to eat in the moment, like I was nauseous, or I would order a plate of food and eat a bite or two of each thing on my plate, move it around to make it look like I ate more than I did. I am not defending this person, but this lady not understanding how shallow her rejection of her husband's celebration is another sign of autism. Of course, this person might be a jerk as well. My ex took me to a sushi restaurant for his birthday. I felt so guilty that I couldn't eat sushi, because sushi is a group experience. I ate a steak instead. I would sit for someone I loved and not eat a thing, but there are lots of autistic people who do not see why they should go to an activity if it does not sound like fun to them.

"Even though I literally can’t eat it I still go." You literally can eat meat, it's your choice not to. Veganism isn't a medical condition (well, there's conditions that prohibit all meat/dairy intake, but those are so rare that they're a statistical anomaly. It's a life choice that's in the end grounded in a "I don't want to" reason, usually fluffed with morals/ideology/religious fervor. If you're actually allergic, then it is a "I can't", otherwise it's always a "I don't want", which is in my book a very important distinction.
Agree on the rest, though I personally always, even on my birthday, choose a place where everyone I want to be there can eat in alignment to their belief and I do expect to be planned in the same way. I want everyone I'm having around to feel good and enjoy a meal together, otherwise I would pick anything else as an activity where a meal is not planned and everyone can deal with that before or after on their own.

@@maskharatnope. It's called respecting other people's dietary restrictions and preferences. If someone has a dietary lifestyle, then they can't eat things that don't fit in that lifestyle. The reasoning is irrelevant. Furthermore, many people who have been vegans or vegetarians for an extended period will get sick if they eat meat, or cut out meat because it was making them sick or put their health at risk. Same for many other dietary preferences. Hope you don't have people in your life who have dietary restrictions, because you're probably the red flag in those relationships.
(Also by the same argument, everyone CAN eat vegetarian/vegan food, some people just choose to eat meat. So everyone can eat at vegan or vegetarian restaurants, and it would be the meat eater's problem if they want to go somewhere that serves their food preference.)

And guess what else….? Most restaurants will allow adults to order from the kid’s menu if you politely explain to them that you can’t eat anything on the regular menu. They’ll even give you a larger portion and charge you adult price if you’re kind and courteous about it. And I’ve never seen a kid’s menu that didn’t offer chicken tenders or nuggets, hot dogs, pizza, Mac & cheese or other items that aren’t steak/sea food.
I know this to be true because I have Crohn’s disease and it severely limits my intake of a plethora of foods. Yet… I can find something literally anywhere I go out to eat. And I’ve been doing so for 32 years. ✌🏻😊

@@UnderoathHasMyBrain right? Between you and I, I bet most restaurants don’t carry a lot of things we could eat…but we figure it out.
Like I mentioned in my other comment, I have Crohn’s disease. I didn’t go into detail as it can be boring, but I also have zero large intestine and a rather small amount of small intestine, this causes a problem called short bowel syndrome (aka short gut). So there is actually a huge list of things that I cannot eat. It sucks, because there are a lot of foods that I like that I haven’t been able to eat for several years now. I also have some sensitivities to food and drink because I have lupus…which has caused chronic kidney failure. And my husband was a type 1 diabetic…yet if we’d go out as a family and the choice was mine, his or our son’s…the other two would always find something they could eat. Typically we would choose as a family, but for special occasions when we’d go out where it was the celebrant’s choice…we all would still have a nice meal and a fun time together.
We’ve also gone to many family events over the years where food is served. We’ve never encountered a situation where there was absolutely nothing that we could eat.
Our son also has Crohn’s disease (but not short gut) and now that he’s an adult he too can go anywhere and always find something he can eat.
And thank you for sharing your comment. I have a few family members who are autistic as well as some with food allergies and none of them have ever made the rest of us feel like we have to always cater to their needs…but as a family we do try to avoid situations that would offer absolutely zero choices for our loved ones. Just as I’m sure that people who know you well wouldn’t ask you to go somewhere that you wouldn’t be able to find something to eat.
After scrolling through the comments I’ve noticed that the majority of people agree with me and you …and there’s a large percentage of people that have allergies, texture issues, sensory issues and other reasons they can’t eat certain things and all of them have agreed that the wife in this story is just being an AH. 😆

My husband has an eating disorder and often cannot find anything to eat on a menu. Often. (This is from forced eating and abuse as a child. He has given me permission to talk to others about it.) This doesn't even include his many food allergies (honey, certain berries and nuts, citrus, bananas, and unfortunately more).
This is not an excuse though. We have many compromises, one of which is ordering from two different places and eating either at home or at a park. When this isn't possible we either buy food for him to eat in the car before accompanying me into a restaurant or vice versa. (We take turns.) I make sure if it's a potluck or something to make two foods - one he'll be happy eating and the other for everybody else. He makes sure I can spend quality time with him and still enjoy the food I love.
Over the 14 years we've been together he's gone from "I'll just not eat any of this food I'm planning to pay for because I don't want to be embarrassing" to asking for the order to be altered beforehand, when possible. He also has tried new foods he considers scary just because he wanted to know about the food I love. I'll often ask if he wishes to smell or touch the food, and he's so quick to do so now when he's interested. I'm so proud of him. ❤
I'm not sure why I'm sharing this, but I guess I wanted to say that you can have deep issues with food and still be a supportive partner. I'm glad the woman in the story took the advice of others seriously. :)

OP isn't a good person, and he clearly lies about how much he loves his wife. Oh I mean "loved his wife".
The second he cheated, he destroyed the marriage. And I do applaud Lucy for telling the wife.
I also don't believe that he only cheated because he was drunk. You still have control over yourself when you're drunk, maybe not the best control, but it's not like he didn't know what he was doing (as he remembers it, so he wasn't blackout drunk).
The way OP solves this, is to leave the wife the hell alone, not contest the divorce and vanish from her life forever.
Also, even though it was a miscarriage, had it been an abortion, I wouldn't have blamed her for it. He can't be trusted, so I wouldn't have wanted to have a child with him regardless (and be "tied" to him for at least 18 years).

Ab*rtion care only extends till the moment you wake up from the procedure and can stand on your own. They wouldn't have dr*gged her up so much that she would be knocked out for a whole day.

I would often order a couple of starters to be served with everyone else's food. It's a pretty easy fix in my experience.
