At this point I'm convinced Fantano signed some kind of pact with a mischievous imp creature that makes him incapable of giving a Denzel Curry album anything other than an 8. On his next record Denzel is gonna pull a Big Day and Anthony's review is going to be him crying while praising the album through gritted teeth for 13 minutes, with him fully breaking down at the end as the words 'light to decent 8' are forced out of his throat by unknown forces.

I know it’s become a bit of a meme at this point but Denzel's consistency is crazy. Sure he was probably aiming for more than an 8 with this one, but continuously getting great scores is arguably an even better achievement.
I feel like Denzel aims to get his feelings and ideas out and grow his skills and capabilities. Its a great album. Fantano is praising it. A 9 or 10 doesn't make a difference.

It’s been a while since I’ve sat down to listen to anything new these days, ADHD and anxiety have kinda locked me into listening to things I already know and like. But discovering this channel is the perfect opportunity to expand my music horizons again. Thank you for offering insight and context to so many songs and albums.
I came here a few years ago for the same reason (that and wanting to gain awareness of newer music). I recommend his New Music Friday stream if you want to sample a lot of different songs in a few hours

I listened to the album 4 times now front to back 🔥 Hopefully he makes more songs like X-Wing in the future. The versatility is crazy! I feel like if Gunna hopped on a remix for that song it would be on top of the charts easily.

Literally my first thought when hearing x wing was “gunna would sound awesome in this” but at same time Denzel kills it himself. The flows he uses are so good, and that hook is so infectious
I think Gunna would have ruined the song, just because having his name on it would make it seem like Denzel is just curving his style to fit with his feature, which other artists do constantly (Drake)
Nah most rappers already make this type of music u can just go listen to gunna or someone else. I'd rather Denzel do his own thing.

I prefer a lot of 8's rather than have only one amazing album.
I'm not a rap enjoyer, it's kinda hard for me to feel the vibe most of times. But for some reason I ended up hearing the fast paced breaks in Zatoichi and I decided to give the album a full listen, and oh boy, everything clicked in me, the message, the bangers, THE VIBE. Denzel is a great artist and I'm happy to know I have his full discography to check out. Say my name I teleport.

Watching this along with Anthony's interview with Denzel really tells a great story of the album and Zel's messages across it.

This album is absolutely stellar imo. Denzel is one of my favorite artists and this feels like a perfect evolution stylistically. His writing is the best it’s ever been, great and varied production, flows are amazing, and not a single miss on the track list imo. So far my AOTY, dare I say 10/10 and his best work to date.

Why was I surprised that Denzel got an 8 again lol, this was a 10/10 for me.
This is one of few rap albums in recent years that truly has an identity and will be remembered in 10 years time. Thats the problem with half these mainstream mfs, none of them are making music to stand the time. Half of them make 30 song albums with no cohesion whatsoever because it’s just a checklist to them. You think people are gonna remember Polo G or Lil Baby’s albums in 10 years bruh? Hell nah. But you think they’ll remember Ta1300 and Melt My Eyez? Hell yeah. And I’m not saying Denzel is the only one actually making worthwhile albums but it’s definitely getting fewer and fewer. Even artists that used to put out memorable projects have stopped caring.

This whole album has been on repeat all week for me, just fantastic. I love the style switch on this, Denzel is consistently one of the best artists period.
I was holding my breathe waiting for Anthony to bring up the Draw Guns line. So happy he did. I went crazy when I heard it the first time.

Sanjuro, zatoichi, x-wing are my 3 fav tracks. I love how he embraced jazz and old school hip hop on some tracks and then also went pretty experimental and new school. I really hope we see an experimental rock album from him at some point in the future. That bad luck track he put out was awesome

Denzelʼs album is definitely a positive score, I love how his albums are always great. Melt My Eyes, Time To See Your Future is a 9 out of 10 to me, itʼs a very good album.

The opening track legitimately provided me with a little mantra I think to myself when I’m having a rough time mentally: “I keep walkin”
My favorite part of the opening track is that he quite literally defines what the title of the album means. He says “being aware is my definition of melt” and “my eyes eating perfections within myself.” Since eyes is spelled “eyez” it’s an imperfection. The title means “Be aware of my imperfections, and you will see your own future.” And I think that can serve as a mantra for anybody, such as yourself. Nice to see it’s affected somebody in a positive way.
Listened to this album some days ago and I really liked it. The instrumentals (especially the jazz-rap ones) and the Slowthai hook on "Zatoichi" are personally my favourites and overall, Zel is more than well-deserving of this score!

Not a bad curse
I'm not one for the more mainstream "modern/Contemporary" sound. But, this was done extremely well by Denzel. He pretty much blended every sub-genre of Hip Hop together and it was like listening to a timeline from 1996 - 2022. Really well thawed out album imho. Top 5 for me so far this year.

I thought for sure this was going to be a 9… it was super cohesive, transitioned seamlessly, meaningful, and he structured it differently by putting the bangers near the end to go out with a bang

This was the first full length album I've listened to by Denzel (Ive heard him featured on various tracks and heard some singles here and there). And I'm enjoying this album a whole lot.
i gotta be honest i think denzel is one of the most talented rappers ever, cant really think of anyone who has such versatility and diversity in flows, lyricism, and themes, yet always holds a high standard of quality, mad respect for denzel. I also highly respect that hes never really glorified drugs or violence or just being a dumbass in general, at least as far as im aware. Im not even against those things but its a nice change of pace for a rapper to not just talk about those things exclusively

As Fantano said , this was a HUGE adjustment for me . I’m used to Denzel just spitting over a beat with relentless aggression. This album truly was a slow down both sonically and personally for Denzel . Which is why I cried on the first song . He’s mentioned a few of these issues in past albums but see him reflect on it straight away on the FIRST SONG - had me crying and happy for Denzel. Reflection allowing him to keep on walking.
Wow, I can't believe it. This is quite possibly the greatest album of all time. 8/10.

This album is my intro to Denzel and it's really hooked me which is saying a lot because I'm not a huge rap fan but when there's good lyrics and dynamic delivery it's hard not to pay attention.
