The story of the scourge invasions boils down to the defenders saying "haha idiot you cant go through my awesome defense. You need to do exactly all these steps to pass through" and then they die
in the novel this is explained as an ego the elves had. they thought they were high and mighty and couldn't be defeated no matter what. not sure why Antonidas and the others gave up their secrets though
The problems of the genre, since it's a game the player needs a way to overcome the barrier, even if that means the way to destroy it is illogically unprotected.

@@BreakTheIce222 Tbf Antonidas did not say anything that helped Arthas, just that they set up defensive auras (something he would have noticed himself obviously, as soon as he'd enter them). His threat really sounded like a last ditch effort to have Arthas turn around since Antonidas knew he had very little chance of holding him off.

This is an issue of the novel and gameplay not being in sync. In the novelization, Arthas actually threw as many undead corpse as he could to make a pseudo bridge. The Sunwell on the other hand was on a small island and Arthas could not do the same trick, hence Ner'zhul gave him the ability to freeze it.
Yea I just realised that kelthuzad was worried ppl would hear their conversations once he was revived. Why didn’t he explain in length when only arthas can hear him?

Yep. The Reforged team made pretty graphics when static, but that's about it. Their lazy implementation cannot even match the cinematic movements of those done 18 years earlier, it's pathetic. Many scenes of characters that previously ran, thematically making sense as they were A. rushing to save people B. hurrying away from enemies C. Moving to strike... have been bizarrely replaced with a chilled out walking motion, or occasionally none at all. In comparison, the new cinematic triggering is bland and incoherent, to the point where the original hit the tone better without the benefit of more funding and almost two decades of advancement on the side of Reforged...

I believe a cooler ending to the lich King story in WoW would have been having to use knowledge of the dread lords to undue the lich Kings curse. The light triumph over death was lame and the same.

Looks more like a community high res community mod than a AAA remake that I would expect like RE2 and AOE remake.
If you watch these new cutscenes without sound you can see how little effort they put in.
So the total changes are:
-Arthas no longer breifly runs towards Tichondrius on their first meeting (boo!), but there are some more dynamic camera angles throughout their conversation
-Arthas now rides directly to Tichondrius after getting Kel's body, and they even have a little stroll (weirdly funny and cute)
-Uther's death is now a cutscene instead of him talking while dying in slow motion (even has a kneeling animation)
-Tichondrius' Dreadlord club now doesn't have 2 Abominations hanging out (and i think the Acolyte looks like he's genuinely making soup or something. Too bad it tasted terrible enough to be killed over). The dreadlord club is also in Outland rather than some random ass dungeon with flames.
-the elf that Arthas interrogates is now actually an elf Priest instead of a human Emissary unit (small continuity fix)
-not sure if i'm remembering correctly, but there seems to be a LOT more archers during the scene when Arthas breaks the first gate
-the Sunwell got completely revamped (in fact, the entire mission itself got remade. The only 1 of 2 in this entire game. Too bad the elven king doesn't say anything so he's still a non-character lol)
-Sylvanus got her death cutscene revamped with a ton of cool effects, including a actually-unique Banshee model (the whole scene got remade to fit a WoW presentation, and surprisingly accurately)
-Arthas now makes an ice bridge to the Sunwell (...wait, why didn't he do this when Sylvanus broke the first bridge?)
-the giant demon wave during Kel's explanation of the Scourge now has all the Doom Guards replaced by Felguards as well as have some those siege contraption things (so the Burning Legion got nerfed thanks to continuity? Kind of funny)
-the Blackrock orcs now use Warlocks over Shamans and Forest Trolls over Darkspear Trolls (surprised at the continuity fix)
-Antonidas' second meeting is now a cutscene rather than him talking during the fight (also, apparently Kel thinks it's funny as shit since he's laughing during it)
-Kel's channeling animation now only uses one hand instead of 2 (i liked the original one better)
-Archimonde is now...pfffft...AHAHAHAHA~ Wtf he's so tiny! Kel is freaking taller than him! It's so funny that it both ruins and makes the scene (plus he magically grows like 3 times taller later so why he's so small here makes no sense)
Consensus: Overall, it's surpising to see how much the Silvermoon portion got revamped and improved on as well as several little continuity fixes such as unit types but all of that pretty much lost all its splendor upon the sheer amount of unintended comedy that came with tiny Archimonde acting so big. Seriously, who approved of mini demon talking like he's 5 feet taller?

You forgot the part where he executed the high-elf prisoner in reforged while he either doesn't execute him or we don't see it in the original version

I guess no one else noticed this, but the name of all the human enemies fought is "Arthas" in the hero icon.
For some reason for 15 years i wondered sometimes what happened to the guy after Arthas said we'll make our own entrance well now i know for sure what happened
A Mage's basic attack to the head.. Classic.
It was really frustrating playing the undead campaign after the human campaign. By the end of the first you were already fed up with Arthas just continually doing evil. There wasn’t a compelling reason to build him up that way.
By the second act, it’s hard to swallow that he’s just giving in to his evil in the overall plot, but given his behavior in the first plot, it makes sense.
By the end of the undead campaign, however, you’re pretty convinced this is the character. It does make the plot of the rest of the game make a fair bit of sense.
All in all, the best character developments are Thrall, Gromm, and Jaina. Their behaviors make sense given their character ark, whereas you hate Arthas, but you were kind of forced to do so after two campaigns of his antics. They don’t do enough to build him up as childish. He’s more incoherent than juvenile. You can argue that Frostmourne did that to him, but it’s not presented that way.
The night elves are just a unique race given the history of fantasy gaming at the time. But their character developments are pretty bland. Obviously, Illidan has a strong coolness factor as an anti-hero. But, again, that is developed merely over two missions.
At the time, however, for a fantasy RTS, this was extremely good. We hadn’t seen anything like it yet. Obviously, StarCraft had a more solid character development, but it’s presentation was nowhere near as good.

There's some potential in LoaP for chefs to be supportive heroes with strong buffs & debuffs. Like slippery-slidey grease or bring back one of the old LoaP's 'Chinese fighting muffins' (burnt oven cupcakes) that throws a stun bolt. Among other foolery. ;D
