This is a condensed version of the Oklahoma Sooners 13-2 win over Florida State in the 2000 National Championship. The Sooners' win capped off a perfect 13-0 season in which the OU football team were Big 12 Champions, Orange Bowl Champions, and National Champions. The National Championship was played in January of 2001 and the Sooners won the National Championship and the Orange Bowl.

If he doesn't OU would have went to 3 straight National Title Games. Not saying they would have beaten Miami and Ohio St, but I guarantee the Rose Bowl game against Miami, OU would have done better than Nebraska did.
Because Jason was just starting to find his groove. Q was playing very well, we have never been deeper at WR, O Line was great, and most importantly our Defense was fantastic.
That one really hurt. I will say they beat us fair and square. No smoke and mirrors crap. That was a special OU team. Go Noles.

This is how Brent V enables defenses play! You will never pull up a Lincoln Riley offense play 60 perfect minutes like this defense! This is one of the most under rated national champion defenses in college football history! 3 and 4 star athletes mostly 3 take a team full of elite 5 star future NFL talent and snack them in TBE mouth! That defense beat 1 Kansas st #1 Nebraska Texas was top 10 I think a&m was ranked I'm sure Colorado was ranked and we just smacked teams in the mouth all year! Look how many tackles these last 15 teams habe missed especially in the 2nd halfs of gsmes! This was a Brent Venables motivated defense that he made better every single week!!!!!

I have to say...that team was my favorite OU team of all time. So many things had to fall into place for this to happen.
The sooners don't get most of the best in state kids like they used to. These kids go out to nebraska,Kansas, Kansas State, Arkansas, Alabama, Michigan,Ohio State, even Texas. The homegrown starters wanted to play there and no where else back then.

Pretty crazy in 2000 we won game with only 12 (OSU), 13 points. And scored all 15 in this game.
I didn't watch this game or the Florida Oklahoma title in 2008 because the best team was left out. Miami in 2000 and USC in 2008.

The uga and bama games were winnable games if we had any defense at all. Bama hit us right in the mouth out the gate and then got out played and outscored the remaining 3quarters of play. 1 more defensive play would've won the uga game. Just one 😳

Mike Leach's Air Raid changed NCAA football. Mangino was OC in 2000 but he had his notebook out in Leach's 1 yr as Sooners OC in 1999. The 1999 was 1st yr of Air Raid learning woes and went 7-5. It was dismissed as gimmick by old guard. Year 2 Air Raid was polished and Heupel was the Game Manager the Defense needed. Ravens, Bucs, 90Giants, Bears, we've see it before and that was 2000 Sooners. Comments complain about sloppy. Pshh, Sooners getting some sloppy toppy from ya girls post game too.
