AMISH RV Absorption Fridge Replacement Cooling Units-AND TIPS-Make Your Fridge Run Colder

Поделиться

  • Опубликовано: 23 июн 2023
  • Our RV Absorption refrigerator died and was leaking ammonia. I’m going to replace the cooling unit with a Amish cooling unit. I’m also going to cover some important tips on how to make an absorption refrigerator operate better and keep your food cold.
There are several DYI upgrades you can do to a RV absorption refrigerator to make it operate a whole lot better. Good air circulation by installing 12V fans is at the top of the list. Then blocking off the baffle/open areas that trap hot air is the other main thing to do to really help the fridge perform at it’s best.
If you have an RV absorption refrigerator and you smell ammonia at the back of the fridge, it’s dead and that ammonia can start a fire. Turn the fridge off and don’t use it again. You have to replace the cooling unit or replace the whole fridge with a new one. A new fridge will cost around $800 - $1,000 more than just replacing the cooling unit.

And I love my super cold drinks. I would say Z main thing to know is to keep the fans in the refrigerator from completely holding Frozen liquid it might should freeze a hair here and there but slide off on and off cycle and you'll not have to defrost it much at all. And it's on the firing line we're still hits 32 or 31 occasionally

I am so sorry to learn that Martin has passed. I just learned this today from these comments. I am a relatively new RVer (2 years), but I learned a tremendous amount from him. This vid may be his best for me. I have had a problem with my Norcold since day 1. Upon Martin's endorsement, I contacted JC Refrigeration in the past couple of days, and they confirmed for me that my N8X is a piece of junk that the manufacturer should never have sold me. I have an appointment next week at JC to switch out the cooling unit. I am looking forward to a refrigerator that actually works. Many thanks. A thousand stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

His cancers were attributed to Agent Orange. Larry said there were several times they were soaked in the crap.

We have been sidetracked and have not been out in the motorhome for a few months but have been thinking a lot about Martin and wondering how he was doing. I decided to come back to his site tonight to check up on him and I was completely saddened to hear of his loss. Sending hugs and sympathy to Joanie and family. My husband and I are truly sorry for your great loss. Martin was a remarkable man. We learned so much from his videos. We would binge watch video after video, taking in all of the fantastic information he provided. We were always amazed by the care he took of his own RV. We consider ourselves pretty on top of things and take great care of our motorhome but I have to say I don't think anyone could keep up with Martin's care. He showed us things we never even thought of. Everything was always perfect and immaculate. We will never forget Martin. He had a way about him that made you like him from the minute you watched his videos. Hard to believe that just watching someone regularly on You Tube that you could really feel that you got to know him.. Joanie, we buy a lot of items on Amazon and as soon as I figure out how to do it I will buy everything through your store. I had completely forgotten that we could do that. I hope this helps you at least in some way. If there is anything else at all that we can do please let us know here. Thank you for sharing more video's and continuing to communicate with everyone here. My heart breaks for you. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your family.

nice to way to look at things I Bought a regular house fridge that fits in the sport that a propane Fridge used to fit. I will later have a nice 12 volt system with solar on top of my camper to keep the fridge on if I have anything in it. But for the most part it will be empty if not in use. But when travelling I need to keep it on. I will be Upgrading from the Lead acid battery to a Lithium battery and put an inverter just for the fridge.

I THINK IN THEIR ORIGINAL DESIGN THEY DIDN'T PLAN ON HAVING ANY FANS AT ALL THEY WERE JUST DEPENDING ON THAT EXTRA SPACE SO YOU NEED TO SAY THAT IN YOUR SYSTEM WHERE YOU ARE FORCING ARE YOU NEED TO DO THIS BUT IF YOU'RE JUST DRIFTING AIR

I will say well it's next to my last post that I run it on 120 at all times and 12:00 seemed it needed a bigger element which I got but haven't ever tried the propane works perfectly but it's possible I could use interior fans with propane use.

hmm i bought one of those cheap 54 quart top loading 12v fridges on walmart for 99$. i coated the outside of it with aluminum foil tape and then the inside with copper foil tape. just to reflect all the emissised heat from the environment. set it at 34F and it is literally using 4 watts/hr inside now. thermal emissivity is a very poorly understood component of fridges yo
i also coated the outside of the hot end condenser compartment with black duck tape to help it flick the heat away
i can tell the back side of ur new unit is doing a similar approach with the aluminum/metal foil. might be worth having the front of the unit be white or some kind of metal. stainless steel is actually really good coz it uniquely has low thermal emissivity and not super low specific heat (less convection loss)

Hey bud I’ve got a propane Treger fridge at my off grid cabin it was in the cabin when I bought the place I thinks it’s made in Spain but here’s the issue it will light but goes out when I realease the button sounds like a bad thermocouple now there is a little black box that holds aa batteries for the little lights inside but there is a 3rd wire going somewhere lol could this be my milliamp power source to the ignition switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated I have a book but it’s in another language imagine that I’ve god another thermocouple if needed thanks a bunch your way way more knowledgeable than anyone else I’ve listened to thanks Eric 👍
