It took me a while to get into the Winter Light album but i absolutely love it now. Love Linda but nobody can "suffer" like Dusty. 😊 how lucky are we to have both of these versions to enjoy. Maybe you could do the comparisons of Linda and Cilla Black singing Anyone Who Had a Heart? ❤
Hi @caroljshepherd3848 ... I did a reaction to Cilla Black singing "Anyone Who Had A Heart" about 2 years ago (check it out on my channel). About a week ago I compared Dionne Warwick and Dusty performing the song. I will definitely do a reaction to Linda in the near future. I can never get enough of Linda. Thank you for your comment and enjoy ...
Both exceptional vocalists. I prefer Linda's torch ballads & I'd have liked to hear Dusty's later performances. However. it's Dusty for me everytime, especially as I've been a fan since she started with the 'Springfields'.
For me Dusty. It's a difficult comparison becuase the audio quality is so different, Linda's is a studio recording Dusty's IS LIVE and 30 years earlier, Linda's style is obviously more relevant to a more modern 'ear' too
Both are great artists. Winter Light is a terrific album. Good reviews but went nowhere to commercially. Linda is the greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation, imo.
@user-ho3ki3tj9x ... I think it was an album "out of time". If released in the late 70's/80's or later 90's, it may have been a hit. As I mentioned in my reaction, it took me about 10 years to purchase it. It is one of those long lost gems. Rock on ...
The Linda Ronstadt version gave me goosebumps. But, I do love Dusty overall. They are both amazing singers, but for my ears, Linda's version knocks me out. Nothing today could compare to either of them. They are two classic voices. A generation that was spoiled with so many incredible female vocalists that also included Dionne Warwick, Glady Knight, Bonnie Raitt, Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar, Barbra Streisand, just to name a few. Listen to any of them live. Their voices aren't autotuned, overdubbed, washed out or run through any machines.
Hi Robin ... Dionne did not record her version until 2 years after Dusty. I mentioned the first 3 recorded versions and compared Dusty's (the 3rd version recorded) to a more modern version, Linda Ronstadt's. I believe Dionne's was the 11th version recorded by a singer. It was a popular song to cover at the time. Keep rockin' ...
@@drivingwithtodd1781Very good point. People tend to think of Dionne 'owning' the David/Bacharach list but Dusty recorded this and The Look of Love before Dionne. Dusty also made a big hit of Wishin' and Hopin', which was just a 'b' side for Dionne.
There’s no comparison! I mean why try just enjoy. If you need something to ponder then ponder why people 40 and under don’t know who these great artists were
Linda...#1. Perfect pitch.
She (linda) did have a uniquely powerful voice… loved her ‘trio’ work she toned it down to respect her peers and blend in…
i still have my mums 45 of this song on Decca label its very well used. Dusty was so powerful yet could be so delicate too
I like dustys version best
Thanks.. I’m a huge !! Linda fan as well as Bacharach , but just heard of dusty.. so checked it out .. she’s goood!..

Linda knocked it out of the park!

Both nice...always have loved Linda's voice...
Dusty's version is more powerful and soulful. Her voice is heavier yet sweet. It's one of the great vocals on the 1960s.

Linda #1 !!
Both have great voices but for me the Dusty Springfield version in my opinon is the best as it has more feeling.
You missed adding the version by the original Bacharach/David female singer: Dionne Warwick!

Dusty hands down...................................
I love linda ronstadt but the best version of this song is Marcia Hines
silly song, sillier renditions! Ok Senile Boomers could like them after so much has improved with latter-day musical production standards
You mean like auto tune and pitch correction software for the crap they churn out these days? 😄
