- Part 2 of 2. Classic Game Room HD reviews DIRT 2 for Playstation 3 PS3, also on Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii, PC and Sony PSP. Not on Vectrex. Boo! The sequel to the excellent Dirt 1 has awesome driving gameplay combined with all new courses and rally races. Compete in extreme X-Games style competitions, jump dune buggies and crash trucks. While CGR prefers the straight forward, Colin McRae Rally style racing from years past, Dirt 2 packs loads of gameplay into one video game. This CGR review of Dirt 2 has gameplay from Codemasters' Dirt 2 showing game play from the PS3 Dirt 2 driving game in action. Numerous cars including the Subaru Impreza and Nissan 350 Z are available. Tracks are based in locations all around the world like Croatia, Utah and Morocco., China and Morocco.

I think so, but it's a huge help having that voice tell you what the next turn is going to be like. I remember that from Dirt 1 and it saved my butt about a million times.

This looks like my kind of racing game. Motor Storm, Gran Turismo,and Burnout series are some of my fav racing series.Another great review. You should get Jungle Strike, and or Desert Strike for the Genesis. Those games are pretty good.
Are there night and of for races in this game, I missed them in Dirt. Also can you have your own music playing during races?

On hairpin turns I usually do a handbrake 180...is that a good thing to do?

What controller are you using? Can turn off the nav.?
I play DiRT 2 with the Logitech g25 racing wheel, and that just makes it so much more realistic. The steering wheel in the cockpit view makes the exact same movements of your hands! Also works with DiRT 1.
What's with your voice? I thought it was someone else!

I prefer the old Collin McRae Rally games too. I have Collin McRae Rally 3 for PS2 and I think it's great. I got DiRT 1 and I think it's good but I don't like most of the non-rally races in the game. Is it worth to get Collin McRae Rally 4?

Impressive finish. Not quite as good as mine though. I clipped that barrier and barrel rolled over the finish line XD. It may have not been intentional but it was still damn impressive.
PC version has amazing detail, its one of the 1st Directx 11 games so if you have a good enough system its amazing!
The same Queens of the Stone Age song is also in Midnight Club 3.

Hey.. it has MORE than the girl to say what way to go!... You can unlock them by being friends with them!.... :-) And you can change them in options somewhere! :-)
They actually changed what he asked for in Dirt 3 :D More Rally, different voices :D They might have watched this review :D

I think that the constant vibration might wear out the motors so be careful.

BTW you can drive around the barriers to try to hit the crowd but the car resets as soon as you come too close.

you do have multiple navigator voices.it's in the my stuff menu - co-driver.
I personally would like Starbuck swearing in my ear and nagging at me, but equally good.

A lot of people complain about Dirt and Dirt 2 getting away from rally roots but ALL of the other classes and events are parts of other very awesome and talent deep disciplines and should really be appreciated by any off-road enthusiast.
I wrote some long stupid comment about all the disciplines but ran out of characters. oh well.

Mark, you do know that there is an option to change between a male and a female navigator, and between basic or advanced "instructions". What I mean is that on advanced, instead of saying easy left for example, she says left 3 or we
If you're going to pick new options for the navigator's voice, the choice is obvious. KITT's voice. Maybe the computer from Star Trek.
Dirt 3 is a good step towards that :) But I still think that it should have more rally, longer stages and more locations..but maybe it's also a power of the hardware problem, that's why I hope to see dirt 4 on the next gen, possibly with very long, realistic rally stages..I mean..how awesome would it be to have ouninpohja as a full stage?? ;P
They could make this game way better if they release a pack with 20-30 stages, in which you can drive with what cars you want.

I think the co driver differs depending on the nationality cause i have a scottish guy cause i chose my nationality as Scottish..

I think that there should be a rallycross game. Like the original Colin McRae series it should be only rallycross, both in the US and European style.

@jakerthesnak Would that be Nicky Grist? (who is Welsh) I honestly don't know, as this is pretty much Ken Block Rally 2, not Colin McRae. :(
Ken seems like a nice guy, but man, to a long time WRC fan who is used to incredible driving, his gymkhana videos are fun, but not very impressive. :p I saw the latest one and thought 'any WRC driver could have this course mastered in a matter of minutes.' I dunno... I imagine Gigi Galli doing it and adding a ton more style along the way.

the PC version is special, as it is one of the first DX11 titles.
I tried botrh game,s I like the graphics and the way it play on Dirt more than Need for speed!... This for me feels more fluit, Need for sped feel more stiff... :-)

The best way to finish is race is with the car flipped upside down, facing the wrong directions, spinning in circles.
