    Folks hate information like this because they can't refute it, instead they'll deny it and deflect to something else. Their even doing it in the comment section of this video. That's one out
    of many reasons why things like this aren't taught in the public schools, it's also to control the narrative.

    • @cristop5
      @cristop5 3 года назад +2

      Yes there were slave patrols and yes they influenced the development of policing.
      In the south.
      That is history that should be taught.
      But these guys are pushing the narrative that ALL policing is somehow based on slave patrols. And that all lower class people can somehow be equated with blacks, even after showing pictures of police attacking white strikers!
      As historians they get zero respect from me.

    • @Juninzone
      @Juninzone 2 года назад +3

      @@cristop5 They didn't just influence them in the South they also influenced them in the North as well, their are some good cops but the bad ones never collectively get punished and rooted out except for a few. You should checkout the netflix documentary 13th, hopefully youtube didn't pull it down if it's still up.

    • @Juninzone
      @Juninzone 2 года назад +2

      @KENTOPIA Than we’re does the racism from police towards black people come from? Also I would suggest for you to watch the documentary 13th, slavery only ended so a new form of slavery could get justified, which was the industrialized prison system through criminalization, which is explained in the documentary 13th. RUclips might still have the full documentary up if your lucky.

    • @Juninzone
      @Juninzone 2 года назад +3

      @KENTOPIA Individuals aren’t mostly held accountable, taxpayers are the ones held accountable because their the ones footing the bill for these cops instead of their unions. You probably heard the word “blue wall of silence”,
      theirs a saying that if people ignore it they are part of the problem. Which groups them in with those individuals, turning those some into a lot.
      Which makes sense as to why cops can have lots of complaints and not be held accountable for it.
      Question, what would policing look like in America if slave patrols never existed?

    The basic function of the police is to maintain and protect the existing social order and keep the oppressed working class in line, whether that working class is white or black, slave or free. The USA is ruled by a tiny class of oligarchs and the police act as their enforcers, their watchdogs.

    So Police we basically created in America in the 19th century (1800's)? They were created to enforce slave laws. Marijuana is illegal even today for no reason? As a former officer, the history is wild. I think it's time for police reform in America. It's time we pick sides for WW3 and police are a great asset, just as our military is. We need to reform our police to enforce common law ONLY, and start with all these race based laws such as marijuana. Dont defund our police, but rather fix the problems to make them an asset. If you’re building a car out of old spare parts that you fix up and install piece by piece
    . . . And you have never gotten the car running properly,
    it still counts as being “broken”
    Even though, you can’t point to a moment when it broke
    Just because the car has never worked the right way, doesn’t mean you can’t get it running properly.

    England. It comes directly from England, just as our legal system does. That is why your lawyer has a BAR (British Accredited Registry) card. "Regis" means "king." There is no king in The United States of America. Or is there? England colonized this country, lost a war, helped create a Civil War, and funded the Union which became indebted to England and then sold America out during Reconstruction. Now, Americans pay all sorts of taxes and have the "regis"ter their "vehicles" in order to travel. That is not what free people do. We have been re-colonized discretely and no one recognizes it. That is why we have an organization called the police that originated in England controlling our people with violence and extracting wealth from them. Only our cops are too dumb to realize who they are working for as it is all concealed under multiple layers of corporate entities. If you go to the top, the crown is behind it all.

    So, modern policing began circa 1838 in Boston, MA (0:40), a free state which outlawed slavery, but originated to enforce slavery? You make a distinction between slave patrols in the south and law enforcement entries in the north, while simultaneously equating their fundamental purpose. Also, the point of law enforcement agencies is to enforce laws. Were there immoral laws in the 19th century? Yes. Is that relevant to contemporary consideration? Unlikely. What racist laws are on the books today and how are these vilified law enforcement agencies enforcing those laws? How do the actions of slave patrols in the 1700s correspond with, influence, or even resemble modern law enforcement activities?

    Really, before modern policing occurred, the military kept people in line...which was likely even MORE brutal. The reality of all this...and I think this video does a good job of portraying it...is that throughout the history of humans, the rich and powerful have conspired to use most any means necessary to maintain their dominance. And beat cops are very simply the tip of the iceberg.
    The truth is that in any time and place (most often, but not always), anyone who has more power than another will conspire to maintain that control. It's just human nature.
    But not all of us are in sway of that human nature.

    The origins of policing, obviously, are ancient. How do you think Rome held together. Granted, there is the common link of slavery there too. In all organized societies, police forces have existed principally to enforce the interests of the propertied over those without property. It is the principal function of the legal apparatus in every civilization. Notwithstanding, in a mass society of any kind, even a wholly egalitarian one, the entire industrial apparatus depends on a vast network of contract and compliance guarantees - and the ever present, tacit threat of their enforcement by an army of enforcers. To some extent, the rights of normal workers, consumers, pedestrians, etc. are important to defend, in order to inspire market confidence to ensure the benefits of the propertied. So we get crumbs from the table. But be wary if ever those crumbs were removed! Hence a fair portion of enforcement efforts are dedicated to doing what we want the police to do: coming to our rescue to stop vandals, thugs, robbers and brutalizers in their tracks or shortly thereafter. Study violence in prehistoric times to see exactly what life might look like without the police. Our task is to reform the police to protect the just interests of the human majority - not to get rid of them altogether. Be very carefu of what you wish for!

Not to mention that police (or those responsible for enforcing what we would call laws before "police") in general, all over the world, performed duties such as this. Police has been part of the english language since the early 1700's IN EUROPE. These racists that are part of this video are doing anything they can to manipulate the viewers and find ANYTHING to keep claiming to be victims in some way, shape, or form. At a time when the ENTIRE WORLD was participating in the slave trade (not black African slaves exclusively) slaves were considered property and WHITE AMERICANS primarily were among the first to fight to end slavery and give slaves freedom. ACTUAL slave trading still continues to this day on EVERY SINGLE CONTINENT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Black slaves were the last to be freed in America. Black slaves were the ones who were the most brutalized. White slaves could earn their freedom. Black slaves could not. White slaves weren't considered (white) at the time of being a slave and were always immigrants. Irish, Italian, etc. They were able to gain the status of whiteness. Black slaves and other slaves with dark complexions/non European features, were never granted whiteness. The only thing your right about in your comment is, the police were doing what was expected of them. Still doesn't make it right and further proves a point that policing as a whole needs to be reformed. Don't forget that Nazis were also just performing their duties.
