To be honest, I'd much rather be considered overly polite, than rude and haughty. I mean, I can be a bit of a skeptic about some things, but to automatically assume that an entire group of people are being disingenuous, simply because they're from a certain country or culture that you most likely know little to nothing about, is strange and frankly, borders on paranoia.

Older people are slightly more polite.
They' ll go "I think I might have a...".
Danes however, say "May I have a...."
They're genuinely polite, and lots of Norwegians could learn a bit from them...

Reporting in from California, taco heaven. I was surprised that you thought £4 (about $5) was a lot for a carnitas taco. Did a quick check of a handful of restaurants in my San Francisco suburb where we regularly buy tacos. The price for a carnitas taco ranged from $5-7. Price for a fish taco ranged from $6-8. If you were in SF proper, I bet you'd see a dollar or two more added to those amounts. So, a £4 taco seems like a reasonable price to me. I've had those tacos at Borough Market and thought they were fairly solid -- not the best ever, but pretty good for being in England and not Mexico. I've also had the strawberries and grudgingly have to agree they are also good.

The pandan buns (not cake) in Chinatown bakery used to be the most sensational thing there. I say used to because they got greedy and now they sell you day old or two days old buns whereas before they were all fresh, so they are not great anymore. That was the last time I purchased anything there

I had this mushroom risotto just now, they charged us +£15 for black truffle topping, so they charged me £24.50.
And I didn’t tasted truffle at all to be honest after all. Risotto was ok, just ok . It is not a special . I would pay £10 for it.
I noticed the black board behind casher after I paid it’s said black truffle topping plus £15 , white truffle topping plus £35 😂
Imagine if you said yes to white truffle topping , they will charged you £44.50 for one😂😂
    It’s completely scam.
Be careful everyone, say no for truffle topping!
But it’s ok with £9.50 without topping.
And still they comes with paper container and disposable spoon , eat outside even though you paid £24.50 for one🤭
I had an expensive lesson today.

20 minutes for L'entrecote (spelling may be wrong and likely is) isn't bad compared to what I saw people waiting for it in paris. We got sat in the first flight and people waited the entire time we ate. We were the first people out and were in their for an hour. It was raining the entire time too.

In my country we call strawberries "earth berries". Okay, they are not berries, granted, but you know know what, they come out of the fockin EARTH. FOR FRICKIN FREE. You just have to plant some bloody seeds, water that rubbish from time to time, give it some sunlight and the frickin STRAWBERRIES will just appear out of nowhere. For bloody FREE. OH MY GOD.

Our local Indian restaurant offers a full dinner for two - tandoori chicken, lamb, curry, saffron rice, and with an extra naan it comes to about ten dollars less per person than what you paid. A meal like yours in the States would cost about 15 dollars, tops, with endless rice.

Hi Harrison. Tacos Padre is a cute pun in Spanish. It means Dad's Tacos but also "Nice or Pleasant" Tacos. Que Padre! (How nice). I live in Southern Mexico. Here for 6 quid you could buy a lot of tacos, especially at the market, or a street vendor.
Yay Chinatown. Where we would go in the 60s 70s for a dirt cheap meal (NYC) There was one place that had noodle dishes for one US dollar a bowl....Delicious filling and super economical. What no Red or Black Bean Moon!? hehehe.
Harrison what was the name of the sauce with the Entrecote? I might be able to help with how to make it. Jacques Mexico retired

That particular branch of Ji Chicken has become a pain in the ass because it's full of people queuing to get tiny pots of chicken bits to share and upload to their socials - so the queues are so long! Not only that, you're missing the best thing, the flattened chicken breast. £8.50 for this in the Ji Chicken near me (Kingston), not sure in Z1, but get that, get curry/numbing spice on half, and whatever you want on the other. It's banging every time.
