Great information about temples of Chennai. Mylapore temple also has history of vandalism by Portuguese before Chennai was given as dowry to Britishers.

Correct. The current place where Kabaleeshwarar temple stands was actually having that singara velar (current murugan sannidhi) in that temple.
The real temple was there in the spot of today’s Santhome church. Portuguese destroyed it. But they safe guarded the Lingam of Kabaleeshwara and consecrated in this spot where it is now!

Some are bad in every sect.I was many times rodiculed, troubled or harassed for being a brahmin by some of my friends' families. I had faced even teachers / Professors treating badly. I dont like but never hate their sect though i understood their hatred towards my group.

Because you are a Brahmin you don't retaliate. Here goes the magnanimity of a Brahmin. Whenever you are humiliated you think in your mind "Krisharpanam". All their bad deeds are given to Lord Krishna. Now Lord Krishna knows what to do. You need not take them seriously. Most non Brahmins ridicule Brahmins because of inferiority complex and jealousy. Do you know one thing, "Every non Brahmin at least once might have thought why he has not been born as a Brahmin?" Do you understand now the value of a Brahmin? So be happy and follow all good values in life and be God fearing. All the Best to you.

If we talk about Muslim ghettos of Indian cities,we should also speak about Brahmin Ghettos of Mailapur/T.Nagar.Merely having middle class bunglows or Houses does not make an area or ppl civilised.Mailapur Brahmins have all the traits of Ghettoised communities.

True.. I'm a Tamil-Telugu Brahmin who has been lving in K'Taka for more than 40 years. I've had this conversation with many of extended family's Brahmin relatives. But I was strongly told that they were always being subtly targeted which is why they took such an intransigent stance.

We Kannada Lingayats had a very bad experience with the TNagar/Mailapur Brahmins while searching for a rental home for our daughter.
This was about 15 years back.I believe nothing might have changed in these 15 years. The cast supremacy shown(very discreetly,in novel ways)was quite putting off.
My Iyengar friend from K'taka told them in Tamil that the Lingayats are vegetarian but nothing impressed them.
