Worst part is, sundowner was actually a really smart guy -- he only joined the army (which led him to PMC work) because his family couldn't afford tuition. Goes to show that the problem is deeper than "local man gets money, goes insane".
He also managed to effectively farm child soldiers while completely within the law through abusing legal loopholes

I think having Saria there is kinda funny. If what I heard is correct, Sundowner's shields are what makes him a pain, when he loses them he just melts, but if you look at Saria's bio, apparently if she ditches her shield she can kick people's shit in, she's the one melting people when she doesn't have a shield.
It seems like a theme that's going on. Skadi is apparently underpowered with a sword, while Shining becomes overpowered if she uses hers. Gavial might be able destroy everyone if she ditched her staff and go full apeshit with her fists... Just to name a few

The worst thing about the evil of Sundowner is that he's not wrong. War and violence is a part of humanity. We evolved to kill. And war *does* help economies. It took World War 2 to end the Great Depression. We couldn't have maintained that momentum if not for the Cold War. We spent 20 years in interminable conflict in the Middle East. And wars are started by atrocities.
His points get muddled when he gladly participated in child organ harvesting
As much as people will refuse to believe it and rebuke it. Most of us would not think twice about killing a bug or something, probably justified by “it doesn’t have our brain power and can’t understand” or “it’s just a bug” but it’s still a creature just tryna survive. Humans are natural killers and predators
Maybe he's right about *that.* But where he’s wrong is the idea that we (humans) are incapable of changing, even if it only lasts for a generation or so. We keep beginning wars, fighting them, causing atrocities, covering up atrocities (*cough* My Lai), but there's still good in humanity. The fact that Raiden, even with “the Ripper”, was so disgusted by him is a testament to that.
War is important. Very. And we need it. People always be like "Hurr gurr, all just for money and the economy, thats not worth human lifes"... thats because they have absolutely no idea how money and economy works. Bad economy IS = dead people... much more than in a war actually. And since we're going right into the next recession now.... i dont see any other solution than a new war... not a childish one like ukraine.... we need a war on a much bigger scale than that.... without it... well.. .have fun starving and freezing to death.
