      Michal Sokol actually this movie isn't better then Halloween 6, this movie has no Halloween feel what so ever , it's empty and even the shape is terrible probly the worst of all the shapes , it could have been called murders at the private school not Halloween

      Thats not a high bar though Halloween 5 is terrible an 6 theatrical cut is a mess Producers cut of 6 is good though this movie was ok for the climax with curtis it drags bad an the characters are one note an by the climax nobody matters but curtis making every one else worthless its an ok film but for me Michael died in Halloween 2 an everything else is just what if

    The 90's horror thing you're talking about I totally agree with... In my opinion it makes it to where all these kind of "Scream" kind of movies(not even really Scream itself BUT others after in these few years) just had no atmosphere to where you can even remotely feel like these people are real and/or this is even taking place on planet Earth. It's hard to explain, but I totally get what you're getting at. I feel that way as well. Hollow as you've said before is a great word I think to describe it.

    Completely agree with you on this film, I don’t understand how some rate it highly, I struggle liking any of the Halloween’s with shitty masks that’s why I enjoyed 2018 so much, H20 felt like a “how to be really bad at doing jump scares” the movie.

    Watching H6 you can see how it had that dark 90s horror vibe (pre-Scream...like New Nightmare, The People Under the Stairs, Candyman, Bram Strokers Dracula, Silence of the Lambs, Childs Play 3, etc) then you watch H20 and see how post-Scream 90s horror was infected. H20 fell short but some Scream influnced horror was good like I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Faculty, Disturbing Behavior. I remember enjoying H20 a lot as a 16 yr old kid in the theater obsessed with Michael Myers but now that I am older I see how bland it is. It does not feel like a Halloween film it feels like a Dawsons Creek episode. The Thorn Trilogy might have not been a tour de force but they were all firmly horror films, and more importantly, Halloween films. H20 and Resurrection both SORELY lacked Donald Pleasence. RIP.

      @@samosler4009 i agree. I admit I loved this in theaters during the summer before 10th grade. I now find it dated and much lower on my list. I say it was about as good as H2018 and both better than Resurrection but that is it. The Thorn trilogy is way better than this.

    I liked this one. One of the better sequels IMO. THis one, 2, and 6th are among my favs. 4 and 5 are also better ones. 3 is excellent as well but that one should almost be seen as its own thing. Of course nothing can beat the original.

  • @maxxsteelthegod7617

    I agree its a Scream copycat, but the Janet Leigh thing is a homage technique used since the original by John Carpenter. Dr Loomis named after Sam Loomis from Psycho, just one example.

    the cgi adding of Scream 2 on to the TV and how they cg'd the mask onto the guys fave in the kitchen scene where charlie comes face to face with Michael after getting the cork screw back still makes me laugh
    when i first saw this on vhs i was 12 maybe 13 and i loved it but now i still think it feels well paced because its so short something like 85min or less. but i stick to my guns this is the Dawson's Creek does horror of the series, i keep waiting for Joey to rock up in her row boat.
    the stand out bit for me is only a 20second piece when michael is slashing at them through the metal gate after Michelle williams has dropped her keys and cant reach them, it sets my teeth on edge how close that knife is.

    If you watch 1 and 2 ( I know they are ignoring 2 for the new one), it's very simple stuff. It's just good filmmaking, directing, Dean Cundey, John Carpenter, masters at work. The blurays are so colourful and awesome -- almost the point I wannna watch my grainy VHS versions. H20 was cool to me, I loved seeing Myers ( or several versions of him) in the film and it wasn't just a "PuppetMaster" movie -- they were aiming to get this back in the mainstream. Gotta love the Akkad's ambition and drive, this series could have sunk like a stone.

    awww, I quite like H20. I watched it earlier for the first time in a long time. Its very lightweight - a diet can of Halloween. Not a patch on the original, but what ya gonna do? Its ok for what it is. :o)

  • @jasonmorgan1543

    Yea Jason Kinderman only sees farther Karras he doesn't see him as the Gemini killer only we do because at the moment the Gemini killer was being executed it was at the same time farther karras was dying after jumping out the window after freeing regan of the devil's grip so to get back at karras for saving the girl the devil put the Gemini killers soul into farther karras body as payback but also karras's soul is also stuck in his body too with the Gemini killer as sorta punishment where he has to bare witness to everything the Gemini killer is doing in his body but cannot do anything about it until kinderman frees him at the end. LoL hope that helps some lol I'm a huge fan of this movie and to also add kind of a more creepy vibe to this film which u may already know but the exorcist 3 was Jeffrey Dahmer's favorite film and would constantly watch it on a loop and even watched it with his victims before killing them which gives the film a whole new creepy vibe knowing this while watching the movie lol. Love the review as always bud thumbs up.

    Knowing that you're not the 90's type, here's a little Word of advice, if you ever hear the name ""Kevin Williamson"" mentioned in a horror movie, whether if it's in the opening credits, the end credits, etc. (especially if it's a 90's horror movie) just think of it as a Scream movie immediately! Hope this is helpful for you. ^_l

Except John Carpenter he is amazing!! Lol. I loved In the Mouth of Madness and Village of the Damned remake, and even Memoirs of An Invisible Man and Ghosts of Mars!

    It's a great movie. It has some positives, it has some negatives. Also, Michael is actually supposed to look like someone who got burned up. Hence why they took Halloween's 1 and 2 from the storyline.

    Cool review, I like your style, very cool dude! And you like Halloween, so that's always awesome!But... I like Halloween H20. The masks are shite, the OST was terrible, but it was such an improvement on the last three. You really wanted the cult of Thorn to carry on.... hell was that? This tried to do exactly what they are trying to do again now -- make Halloween the movie scary. Myers, a nutcase, Vs someone. Simple. H4 - 6 fucked that up.

    It is just a rumor that they shoot a scene that mentions the character Jamie! According to Steve Minor they made this movie to only follow Halloween and Halloween 2, but there might have been an early draft that did try and bridge all the films but it looks like the scene where the girl mentions Jamie never took place, so unless the scene surfaces it looks like it never existed!

    I love this movie, it is my favorite out of the franchise! The only problem I see is the mask and who ever plays him, has a ducky walk and it's annoying. But the ending was thee best! I still love watching the ending! I left the theater thinking Jamie Lee Curtis was a bad ass! 🖤 And honestly I was not impressed by her character in H2018. Which I really wanted to love!

  • @justinturley7071
    @justinturley7071 Месяц назад

    I feel like if this movie had the same dark tone like in 6, had brutal murders, and actually had a good mask, I believe this movie would’ve been better than it was. The story is quite excellent for a Halloween film, but because of Scream, it has to play off of it. Kevin Williamson is a great writer, but I think he shouldn’t have tried to write this movie as a Scream movie. But this film doesn’t have the same tone as 1, 2, 4 and 6. Maybe it’s the California setting, but it just doesn’t have the same Halloween tone as those previous films.

    The 1st Halloween movie I watched in the theatre was H 4, I was 13 at the time and it was truly a b8g deal in 1988. Now by the time H20 came out it had been about 4 or 5 years I believe and thus movie was also a fairly big deal because of Laurie Strode . To be truly honest I wasn't a big fan of the movie then and I am not now. But I know many are and I respect that.

    Another date they got wrong in the opening is Laurie's year book picture. It says shes the class of 78, but if these events happened while they were seniors in october of 78 they would have graduated in the spring on 79 therefore they'd be the class of 79. Over all love this movie. First introduction to Michael. Greatest ending other than the original and I feel like resurrection shit on the ending and ruined a perfect closing to the original storyline.

    Yeah...not really big on this one. Now, I don't hate H20. It just doesn't feel like a Halloween movie. It feels more like a Scream movie. Despite me loving scream, Halloween is the main reason why scream exists. But, it shouldn't be another one of those scream wannabes like "Urban legend" or "Cherry falls". I felt that the Halloween atmosphere was pretty lack luster. I didn't really like Michael Myers in this movie either. I think it's the mask. Maybe that's what it is about him. The mask. Jamie Lee Curtis returning to get even with her brother is probably the main focus on this film. Everyone else is just "scream" filler. Like I said, I love scream. I'm a 90's lover. But, Halloween, to me, should be it's own thing. Like, Halloween: the curse of Michael Myers came out in '95, just a year before scream. For a 90's slasher, that movie still had that Halloween feel. Halloween H20, is just a Scream wannabe. So, yes definitely agree with you on this one.

    Its not a horrible film in my opinion but i do hate that H20 feels like more of a Scream sequel rather than a halloween sequel. Also maybe i’m looking too deep into it but i HATE that characters in H20 are watching Scream 2 bc characters in Scream were watching the original Halloween??? it just doesn’t make sense lol. I really wish they would’ve continued with the John Tate/Molly story line in later films.

  • @Bobby_Hall
    @Bobby_Hall 6 лет назад +1

    Yeah, H20 is pretty bad. Too much Scream influence. They even used music from Scream 1 and 2 in H20. The movie doesn’t have a sense of dread like the previous ones had. It’s like an episode of Dawson’s Creek with a little horror mixed in. I even like part 5 more than H20, with as many problems as 5 has. I agree that the Michael in H20 sucks. I consider him to be the worst Michael in the entire series. His walk is really awkward and he moves like a hyper child. He doesn’t have the slightest bit of a menacing presence. The ending is really cool though. It almost saved the movie. What’s strange is that Resurrection didn’t actually retcon the ending of H20. They planned the explanation of how Michael survives during the production of H20. I wish Resurrection never happened. I could live with H20 being the last one just because of the ending. I also love the version of the Halloween theme that plays in the opening credits of H20. It sounds so evil and epic. But overall the film wasn’t that good. I much prefer Halloween 6 to be the end of the series. I also agree that the mask in H20 is horrible. I think the best ones are the original and the Halloween 6 mask. Where did you hear that they used a mask in H20 that looked like the original and covered it up with the CGI mask? I’ve never heard that before. And In another video you mentioned you like Rob Zombie’s Halloween II. Did you mean the theatrical cut or director’s cut? I’ve heard some people say they hate the theatrical cut but love the director’s cut. For me, the best ones are 1-6 and the last four are vastly inferior.

  • @opaque4742

    The horrid mask and the 'waddler' ruin this for me by themselves, but there are a lot more problems beyond those. For all the flack Dick Warlock gets in Halloween 2 for being robotic, he's MUCH better than Durand here as Myers. Also it feels like a weaker Scream film directed by a novice, not a Halloween film. I do agree it feels hollow. Surprisingly weak acting by much of the cast, and all just feels like window dressing for a Michael-Laurie showdown without a proper script.

    In H20 we mostly get cardboard teenage characters that we could care less about. Laurie Strode's return is the main attraction but she just comes off as a whiny ungrateful alcoholic bitch.It kiils me that she never once mentions Dr. Loomis or her friends when she is telling her backstory to her boyfriend.
    The biggest problem for me is that this movie is shot almost entirely at day this does not create an appropriate HALLOWEEN atmosphere. There are also little to NO scares and the ending is just silly to me.
    I am totally onboard with your disappointment/hate of this movie Jason.
