Michael was BRUTAL in this film even moreso than H6. I loved his realistic look because if Myers was living on the run he would be unkempt and filthy and full facial hair. He still became the Shape when he donned the ripped mask and hoodie. It was awesome seeing this version of Michael.

The new film delves deep into the whole survivor trauma and PTSD stuff that Laurie experiences and I love that RZ explored that well in this film. RZ's H2 was very emotional especially Annie's death and aftermath. Whatever people think of RZ he did save the Halloween franchise and made it damn good horror again after the dogshit called Resurrection.

I've always loved both of the rob zombie Halloween films. Mostly I find myself watching Halloween II more than his first movie. It's very unique and Halloween II is the series at its darkest and most brutal. Really I prefer the theatrical version of this movie because of its ending. The unrated ending with Michael and his mask off and says "die" really turned me off. The theatrical ending is way better with Laurie going g over to Michael and says "I love you brother" and stabs him multiple times. Then walks out with Michael's mask on. That's my preferred ending of Halloween II. Besides that I love everything in Halloween II.

Hell yeah dude.. i loved it better then the first one.. i hated the dialogue on this one more. but the direction and different approach it took makes it good.. and the cameos are awesome... the white horse stuff would of been better had it been explained , i honestly think it should of took a who've done it approach and make it look like michael did it all.. but it turns out to be lori.. i think rob wanted that but the studio stepped in letting him do whatever he wanted as long as he put in michael and shocking kill scenes.. but the emotional parts and acting were well done.. it is cool seeing michael myers being realistic and an animal.. michael is scary as fuck in this one , and his kills are done well i love it when he grunts and looks like a man till he puts on the ripped mask... lori and loomis were better written but it should of lasted more with them.. and brad doriff stole the movie it should of kept it all in one characters point of view.. i think annie , you're awesome dude.. i agree and feel all the same opinions you have.. my favorite parts were how you see all the characters loose there mental states from the last movie.. i hated all the crappy parts tho .. but seeing loomis be a sellout while lori and annie are still suffering is what could of made the movie better without even michael he could of been the nightmare boogyman parts making it look real but it ends up all being her... and brad doriff shoots her and cries....

I think the Rob Zombie movies are like Marmite. People either love them or hate them and there's no inbetween. I think both of them were a positive change in direction after the way the pre-reboot series had gone. And I really liked what they did with the lore and exploring Michael Myers in more detail.
I also really like this version of Michael. Because the fact that he's seven feet tall and built like the side of a house makes him seem all the more unstoppable. Even more so than the old-school Michael, even though this Michael is actually the more mortal version. Bullets actually matter to Rob Zombie's Michael. It's possible to make a character scary without them having any overt supernatural abilities; just make them a human tank.

Rzs H2 is honestly like my 2nd or 3rd favorite in the entire series. Rob did an amazing job. This was way better than his remake and I enjoyed the remake. This film as well as H3 and H6 were the only to truly capture the look and feel of October midwest Halloween. Even the original did not capture that as good as this film. Rob made a great and original film while Halloween 2018 was a big letdown and nothing new or original.

I loved this movie I mean I understand why people hated it but I personally think it was good for what it was especially how Michael psychologically scarred Laurie whereas besides in H20 where Laurie (Jamie) became an alcoholic barely paranoid person this one straight shows just how far a traumatic experience can affect someone

I have to admit that at 1st viewing was not feeling this movie, because it was sooo brutal and left field of the 1st Halloween that Zombie did. After additional viewings....its a classic. Zombie at his best, Because its so brutal, and because the dream sequence was soo scary and realistic to someone experiencing PTSD. It takes a deep dive into the dark sides of trauma, with all of these things aside, freaking scary. Great acting! Annie's scene the murder and her dad and Laurie finding her....heartbreaking but realistic sometimes we say things we regret to people we love and we can't take it back....but you could see how much they loved Annie......much better than the 1st to me.

Love this movie! OMG you are right about recasting Daeg with another child who has none of Daeg's charisma and anger. That kid looked like he came from Nickolodeon. The white horse was ok, I guess. The kills, esp the nurse at the beginning are fantastic!!!. I love how Annie has become so strong with dealing with what happened to her in the first movie, and due to the trauma, is so longer so sexy and goofy. She's grounded and serious. Her death was heartbreaking. As much as I love the movie the character of Laurie really did annoy me, she turned into a shrieking harridan. I understand she is mentally unstable and naturally she would be a mess, but she's so out of control and hard to feel bad for her. The uncut version is so much better, always watch the uncut versions of all horror movies. With two endings out there, I like the one where Micheal, Laurie and Loomis all die in a circle outside the barn due to stabs/gunshots. Great remake of song "love hurts"

  • @Hank_Poole
    @Hank_Poole 3 года назад

I have a theory that the original ending would’ve had a reveal that all the killings in the movie were Michael really died in the first one and Laurie actually committed all the murders in this one and Michael was just a figment if her imagination. I think that may have been the direction Rob wanted to go but they wouldn’t let him.

Well, I didn't really like it.
I think Zombie's style and esthetics are not my cup of tea.
But I have to say I kind of admire him for daring making it so different than Carpenter's movies.
Annoying Laurie, pricky Loomis, talking huge bum Myers, horses and visions.
    Why not?
On the other we have seen most of particular ingridients of his remake sequel before in other horrors, or even Halloweens.

First I respect your opinion and I would never insult you for liking this horrible movie but H2 sucks! This is a prime example of trying to do something crazy different and completely screwing it up in every possible way! The idea for the movie had a good foundation but between the horrible writing and over acting and hating most of the characters this movie fails in every way! Laurie is very unlikable most of the film and it's hard to root for her beyond the first act! Dr. Loomis is an ass and I hate him in the movie for everything he does! Annie frankly is the best character and she's given nothing to do and her death is pointless and makes no sense because Michael would never have known where Sheriff Bracket even lived! Sheriff Bracket is the other strong point of this movie but even though he gives a strong performance again it's because his daughter is killed off in a horrible pointless way so his strong performance is negated by Annie's pointless death! This movie has not grown on most it's still really hated and for good reason, the internet has just allowed the small amount of the horror audience that like this movie to find each other and it's not a large audience! I am in the process of beginning to rewrite the movie when it's finished I will upload the script on RUclips and share it with everyone and I think my version will be far better and liked by most of the horror community!

I saw this in theaters also and it was EXCELLENT. I enjoyed the remake but RZs H2 was way better. A brutal, dark, atmospheric, and violent slasher film full of emotionand style. It retains just enough of the Halloween mythos to still be a Halloween film but also a great RZ horror mindfuck. Loomis was an Elseworlds type version and he was supposed to be a bit of an antagonist. Donald will always be Donald but Malcolm did alright for this universe's Loomis.

  • @tigerlioness1

I love the Rob Zombie Halloween films. IMO, I think the reason his versions get a bad rap is because everyone compares it to John Carpenter’s. If his Halloween films stood by themselves w/out any previous Halloween films, I feel that they’d turn into mainstream classics and most everyone would like them. A little off the subject, I’m stuck in the 70s and 80s when it comes to my music, and that’s why I absolutely love Zombie’s choice of soundtracks. However, he has issues with assigning the proper music with the time period a movie is set in, like in 3 From Hell. The movie takes place 10 years after the Devil’s Rejects, in 1988, but he uses music from an album that was released in 1973 (James Gang). Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but it doesn’t make sense to me honestly. I don’t know, his movies are kind of gritty, so maybe that’s why he does it, as 70s rock, especially Southern rock is rather gritty. That’s just my opinion.

I love your reviews and I agree with u this movie is really good as it's different than the original and I might get hate for this but I rather Laurie Strode's actress in this movie than Jamie Lee in Halloween even though I love the original I rather the acting in this movie but I do love Dr Lomis in the original no one can do it better than him he is just too iconic.

truth this movie was going to have Laurie as killer and Micheal was already dead, and at end of the movie Laurie would be killer and kill Dr Loomis and then flash back would show Micheal/Laurie killing people. but the owner of the series said Micheal has to be the killer. so that was scarped, the ending scene where she shoots down was kept in the movie, do think the movie would have did better if they keep that original ending? also good review u got now sub ^^

the white horse stuff made me think of Twin Peaks when i saw it.
my only real issue with this one is the language its as hard to listen to as Django in places lol, I've written 6 books and i haven't clocked up nearly as much swearing as RZ's halloween 2

People are so weird sometimes. As you said they complain if there is a character background given and they rather don't know anything about them. If you show them "The Open House" they will shit all over that movie for not having that. I liked that one a lot and when trying to talk about it everybody calls it shit. I guess it's the same with the RZ versions of "Halloween". I liked them, too. But my taste seems to be weird anyway. Well, I enjoy what I enjoy, what the hell do I care if others can't handle that. ;)

So true. And I don't get the negativity. I watched and had a bast with it. Right the next day I showed it to my wife and she liked it just the same. And often our taste is quite divided. But here we were totally on the same page. And on the www you find haters almost in every review. Lee and you seem to be the exception, haha.

Yeah same here. I grew up with a lot of the old classics but yet I am way more into good remakes. I like a modern feel to movies. Good lighting, good camera work, etc. Most people despise new stuff, but I find it great to go with the times and see how things evolve. Take Halloween for example. I never was much into the entire original series. I like the first one and love it for what it has done for the genre, but I really have a hard time sitting through them. I prefer the RZ versions even though that is solely based on how brutal Michael is portrayed. A Michael like this with the feel of the first one, that would be wow. Like the best of both worlds. But well, gotta see the new one and hope for the best :D

I can understand a hallowern fan hating rz h2, but I feel the movie gets way too much hate. The directors cut I agree because it's horrible. But the theatrical cut, to me at least, is one of the best Halloween sequels and it's easily the ballsiest one. Everything in the movie makes sense to some degree
Michael has no home, so ofc he's gonna look homeless.
Loomis became a millionaire likely off what happened, so it's likely he's gonna be arrogant to other people because he sees them below him in wealth.
Laurie became mentally scarred from the events of the 2007 one so she isn't going to be that goody 2 shoes friendly happy girl like she was in the first one.
The white horse while annoying and the movie could've done without it, is Michael's point of view and his hallucinations.
Michael wouldn't wear his mask much because, well the police would be looking for a guy in a decerept shatnar mask so he wouldnt wear it.
I think hobo michael looks badass when he had the mask on. The characters may not be hugely likeable, but to me Laurie especially is so damn interesting on how she kept on living. This film is one of my favourite movies and no one's changing my opinion its easily the most unique movie since the first one and from what I've seen people just seem to want the same thing over and over and over. This movie is by a mile the most underrated of the franchise, and hell. Its in the top 3 of halloween movies for me. It just works for me.

So i love the movie and dont mind michael talking at the end, my question is if he could talk why would his choice words be "die"? The only reason i question this is when he shows Laurie the picture in the first film, if he could have said something why didnt he say "brother" or anything to convey to her shes the baby and hes her brother? He didnt/couldn't, but then decides to say die here.. Lol, I love both films but i think the picture scene could have been the prime opportunity for him to choose to say anything :P
