Dan O’Herlihy elevates this entire film. A fantastic performance, both charming and deathly sinister. He’s an occult flavored Bond Villain of the highest order. Masterful.
One of the most underrated "sequels" that I'm thankful has finally gotten praise. I'm glad you mentioned the score, because it's fantastic as well. But no thanks for mentioning the Silver Shamrock theme because it will be stuck in my head all night now haha.
Agree with your opinions on this 100%. The death of the top salesman always seemed harsh to me…akin to the assistants death in Jurassic World. Also always really loved the shot of the kids walking in the orange sunset
Everyone Always says the same thing. ‘“If this wasn’t a Halloween movie, it would great’. It’s part of what makes it great. It’s always talked about, as this weird anthology entry in the series. I’m glad it worked out the way it did.
Nancy Loomis is the only actress in this series to play an on-screen role 3 times in a row. Annie in Halloween, Annie (dead) in Halloween II, and Lynda Challis in Halloween III: Season of the Witch.
I’ve been watching your videos every night for a couple weeks, really enjoy your reviews and your enthusiasm really shows during them. I really enjoyed your breakdown of the Halloween films, and I’m finally happy to see somebody else enjoys part III as much as I do! You even convinced me to buy the producers cut of Halloween 6 (666). Keep up the great work!
for a kid, wearing anything special for a special show, is like us adults wearing the band's t shirt at a concert. it's the whole checklist to be eligible to Fully be part of the event
Dont know if you guys gives a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch all the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf during the lockdown =)
I agree as it took me into my late 20's to even start to appreciate it for what is actually was. I now love it and feel foolish for being so petty for so long. I do believe if they had dropped the three and titled it Halloween: Season of the Witch, it could have lessened the blow back.
I agree, thats what me & my friends said. If theyd just dropped the 3 it mitve worked better. They couldve still made Michael Myers films if they wanted to but every now & then made a seperate film bout Halloween but with just the title Halloween: then the secondary title.
I was about seven or eight when I saw this on the tv and it scared the ever living shit out of me. Had serious nightmares about it for a while and I was a kid who had seen a fair amount of horror movies.
I may have seen this in the theatre. Anyway, I always loved it. It had a horrifying plot, a horrifying test run with that family, and ended exactly as it should have. Total favorite of mine...
You already know how I feel about Halloween 3.💜 As an OLDER person 😜that saw this in the theaters as a 12 year old,I knew EXACTLY what I was in for and was very HAPPY.It wasn't advertised as a Michael Myers movie at all. There was NO trickery to get people in the theaters. When people hear "HALLOWEEN" it is AUTOMATIC to think MICHAEL and so AUTOMATICALLY people flooded theaters and were disappointed.Shame on the public for not using their brains. If you watch the trailers there is NO WAY in hell you would think Michael was in this..LMAO.🙄 I am just happy that Halloween 3 is FINALLY getting the Love & Respect it deserves and YES the original HALLOWEEN was already referred to as a CLASSIC at this point in time...trust me!! If Ellie was a robot from the beginning...I think he could tell that her "box" was cold if you know what I mean👍I believe she bacame a robot after she was captured. Thumbs Up Jason😎👍
I saw the trailers on other vids at the time and got this from the video shop, even though Micheal wasn't in the trailer I still thought it would be a sequel so when I did rent it I thought I had picked up the wrong movie. It's actually one of my fave in the franchise and you will NEVER forget that jingle!
I always loved this one (has a jingle. . . bonus points!!!), but like you, I didn't watch them when they were in theaters and I had no clue that it was hated.
As a kid, I grew up watching and rewatching the first 5 Halloween movies. Loved them to death (pun intended). I even as a kid, always liked this movie, if Bob’s death scared me in the Original, and Nurse Karen’s death in Halloween II scared me, then the scene where the family gets killed in that one room, really scared me as a kid. Always loved this film. Even before people started to like it, I never understood why people hated it. I always think of this as a fun Halloween film. And just like the original, this movie still ends on a dark note.
Great review!!! Halloween 3 is going cult status:) I've always been a fan since i watched it as a kid getting ready to trick r treat at 11 years. Lots of memories espicially that soundtrack.
Born in '72, only twice did my parents change the channel during a movie. 1st was Nightwings, early when they raid the apt & all the MFers going on. Dad didn't like that. The other was Halloween III. My mom who can put up with some gore, she'd seen the first 2 films. But when that hand was going into the eyes. Channel immediately got switched to Love Boat. So that Monday morning at school I heard everyone else that saw the whole movie describing the gore of the masks. Was so disappointed.
I actually drew an interesting, though admittedly ridiculous in retrospect, personal connection in my mind from Halloween 3 one to the previous ones. I theorized that the masked killer in the first two was really one of those robots from the mask factory who'd busted a spring and went haywire - thus explaining his apparent abnormal strength and indestructibility - and got mistaken for the escaped mental patient Michael Meyers. Had the anthology format taken off I think that Night of the Demons ( 1988 ) and Trick or Treat might ( 1986 ) have had Halloween #; in front of their titles, .. . after all, THOSE were horror flicks with Halloween settings.
Here's one I agree with you on. Definitely A masterpiece of horror cinema. Probably even a better soundtrack than the Meyers films. I honestly wish the franchise would've went to Tommy Lee Wallace direction like you just stated. Would have been interesting. Ironically I was watching the Cloverfield Paradox just yesterday, and I was thinking the same thing that you just said. "What if"?
I 100% agree. This movie is truly amazing. It sucks it was hated on for so many years because Myers wasn't in it. Movies like this, Friday Part 5 (no Jason) and Texas Chainsaw 2 (even though Leatherface IS in it) got unjustly hated on. Glad there getting a better reappraisal. I use to hate this movie, but my opinion changed on a second viewing. Great kills too. Like the laser splitting the face open. When your do Halloween 4 review, please mention how AWFUL Michael Myers mask is in it. He looks like Ronald McDonald. Great review to a great movie.
I'm starting to get around Halloween III: season of the witch. Ever since I got the news of the new Halloween (2018) film announced, I started watching all of the Halloween films (including this and Halloween resurrection which I avoided for the past five years since I hated them so much back then). The more I watch Halloween III, the more I begin to appreciate it for having the balls to even think about ditch Michael Myers and attempting to do an anthology series. It's not one of my favorites right now (maybe sometime in the future my opinion will change) but I still enjoy this one.
Along with Friday the 13th Part 5 and A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2, this movie is extremely underrated. It's my favorite of the Halloween franchise, by far.
Being from Phoenix also, I have to agree about that shot of the orange sky being my favorite as well. Now do you know if that was actually shot here or not? I'd be surprised if it wasnt an actual landscape shot of AZ.
I was 10 when my dad took me to see Halloween 3. We KNEW Micheal was not in it. The advertising back then let you know right off the bat micheal was not in it. They did not try to trick people! We saw it opening night and I loved it!! If you know going in then it’s fine. The people who put it down were dillweeds and uneducated. This movie was fucking spooky. Loved the old man he was awsome. Get over it people!!!!
I'm just like you when it comes to this movie Jason. Hated it when I saw it when I was younger and it really was just because their was no Michael haha. The thing you joked about witches bringing him back is actually what I thought when I was a kid since he was "blown" up in 2. I also love the London bridge commercial it's been my phone ringtone for years. When people recognize is and ask me why I would have the song from the worst halloween movie there is on my phone... I always ask them if they have seen resurrection xD! Another great review man sorry been busy with work I've failed and gotten behind I still need to finish this and want to watch child's play reviews and then have to go onto Texas chainsaw! Thank you as always man. Edit: I love how you are concerned on why the bum is living there haha. It's like the whole town got together and was like "okay we all work for this same company we all live here... But its too deceiving... Quick someone become a bum that lives on the street so the town doesn't look so clean!"
The trailer is on the bluray and RUclips...granted back then unless you caught it on tv you wouldn't have seen it...but it makes it clear it's probably not another Michael Myers movie
I always remember a scene from when the kupfer family were in that room just before they got killed and it was one of the parents pulling open the curtains and seeing just a wall instead of a window. Maybe it was a deleted scene but it always freaked me out.
Laser in the face!!guys head pulled off his body!!come on man that’s imagination not some stupid web cam shit!! Need to watch it for what it is and you’ll be like damn this is awsome!!!
I was around, I mostly remember the eyes appearing behind the mask on the commercials. Still, too young to see at theatres. I didn't see it until I was 45.😆
I think the robot was programmed to just kill grimbridge and then terminate itself after that job was done. Probably had something to do with no loose ends.
Halloween 3 is under rated but slowly getting more recognition I think..I made my parents watch it Halloween 2019 and they hated it lol still one of my favorites along with part 4
My 2 favorite Halloween movies are the first and third. I’m curious to how the series would’ve ended up if it had been carried out as anthology series.
I don’t exactly hate this film but, I think it would have probably done better if it wasn’t named Halloween and people were expecting it to feature Michael Myers. If it was just called Season of the Witch, I don’t think it would have gotten the hate that it did. I understand that John Carpenter was trying to do with trying to make it an anthology series in that he was done with the Michael Myers character. I didn’t understand it at first but, as I got older and read and saw interviews with John. Technically, Michael Myers is in this movie. On a tv screen but, Michael is in the movie lol. It’s not a horrible movie but, definitely not the best. It is interesting though. I hated the song though! Also, Dick Warlock is a recurring actor in this film
There is a song by Donovan called Season of the Witch it rocks! Lol. This film is awesome fun. I consider this and RZs H2 to be among my favorites after the original. The tension and dread in this film were good but the atmosphere was incredible. I still say this one has the 2nd best ending of the entire series after the original.
Ok, so I admit, wasn't onboard when this originally came out, but in my defense it wasn't marketed properly. I thought we were getting another Michael Myers film. Watching in my adulthood, I appreciated it alot more, and can even admit as a kid found the movie to be creepy as heck......just was upset that Myers wasn't in it, but It's a great stand alone film.....and that creepy commercial song....ahhhhh
Jason--love the film too but there are some ridiculous things that make zero sense as you've pointed out. How about the fact that when we see the stone from Stonehenge they stole there is only a chunk missing from the middle when there were supposed to be millions of the domino-sized pieces (as we saw when marge guttman tampered with it) taken from the giant stone and placed into the masks that were sent all around the country if not the world. That stone is huge but I doubt that you could get several million domino-sized pieces from it in the first place, let alone only having a chunk of the middle taken out!
One of the best in the franchise! Reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode and Tom Atkins is the fucking man....so underrated! This would have so worked in this day as shudder movies or whatever. I would have liked them to tie in in more like Wynn was a descendent of the crazy Irish dude or something...oh well. Next Halloween lets get hurry up for Halloween to no 1 in the charts!
Hey Jason im about to watch this with my Girlfriend , 1st time watch for her.. Its been awhile for me cant wait to see what happens..... Now that's a stupid question Mrs Carthage lol love that line
Speaking of the nose break kill, have you ever noticed in Halloween 5 that the mask that Michael wears in the car when he picks Tina up looks like that dudes face with a fucked up nose? I could be reaching.
I loved season of the witch before it was cool to like it LoL and I love the ending it leaves u with that question did he or did he not get that last channel stopped. Another cool random fact is Tommy Lee wallace was born in the same hospital i was in somerset ky. Thumbs up on the review bud
I "secretly" wish this was how the Halloween series turned out. Repeating Michael over and over for decades is just boring. For being called Halloween, the series has very little to do with the holiday itself. It would be so fun to see good movies like this being made in the 80's and 90's.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 man I really do I felt like an outcast in a fucking horror group how?? Lol on a side note I have the soundtrack to this one I fucking love it.
Absolutely love halloween 3 one of my all time favorite movies on a stand alone movie it is a awesome movie i have fun watching it and really enjoyed it
Yeah, I get that it is unfair to judge this movie by its predecessors, but every time I go back, I'm reminded of what a train wreck this film is. I mean, the plot is decent. Something workable, but some of the production/direction decisions made are just silly and don't make sense. I can't get over the scene in the beginning where the car very slowly smushes the guy we learn is a robot. Why the hell wouldn't the robot get out of the way? How formidable is this thing that will turn and just sit there and watch as it gets killed? How dangerous can these things be if no survival instincts or directives are programmed? I would not worry too much if it was coming after me because if I stay alive long enough the damn thing will walk in front of a train or bus or something. I remember the suspense--especially toward the end--was decent, but my god the train wreck we had to go through to get there. This is one of the very very few movies that if redone, i would like to go see. I think under the right circumstances this can be a good film, but back in 1983 was not right at all. It felt sloppy and rushed. I know that it is 'hip' to stand against a majority and verse well a debate of an unpopular point, but Halloween 3? Not nearly as bad as 5, or Resurrection, but man did this movie have its problems. Hell, if you were to debate the greatness of Zeppelin 3 I would get behind that. But Halloween 3?!? Not an abomination, but something I wouldn't brag about either...
Never seen this one didn’t even know Myers wasn’t in it lol then again not to big a fan on these after the first but man just watched this last night and I actually liked it some of it was a little dated or unrealistic but thanks for the review I’m glad I’ve seen it
I know it's an unpopular opinion... but unlike you having it at your number 2, Halloween 3 for me is possibly my number 1 or 2 Halloween film and i'd put Halloween 2 up there, then the original is my 3rd.. seriously i have no idea why haha but i absolutely love this film around the same as Halloween 2 and then i like them both more then the original, not because they're "Better" movies just i enjoy them more, i think i favor this one over Halloween 2 but i'm not too sure, every time i go to re watch the franchise i think to myself "there's no way i actually like 2 and 3 more then 1.. is there?" but then after every single re watch i just always like the 2nd and 3rd more, It's odd just how exited i got when i woke up and saw this video in my notifications haha, been waiting for this review, On one hand i love that we got more Micheal movies no matter how bad he got (i fucking love Halloween 6 though) but on the other hand it would have been so cool to see what other anthology stories they could have come up with, if this one was so good there could have been so many other great films, when i 1st saw the scene where the woman gets fucked up by the little laser chip thing.. it shocked me haha, and i don't get shocked easily even back then when i was little.
When he is talking to his wife before taking off with the 6 pack he tells her that he will talk to her on Monday while Halloween is on Sunday. Isn't he suppose to take his kids trick or treating?
Awesome end scene ("stop it") but horrible film. I do love the great Tom Atkins of course! I saw this in the theater, the marketing for this film was very vague about story direction and at no point states Michael is not in it. I still have all the Fangoria magazines pre release talking (very vaguely again) about this film.
Same here. Ever since I caught it as a kid. I saw the TV guide channel (or whatever it was called way back then) that a Halloween movie was coming on. Flipped it over there...no Michael Myers...kinda disappointed at first...but then I just got sucked right in. The masks..the atmosphere. That damned jingle! It's a great movie. When Buddy and his family...you know...I was terrified.

I love this movie so damn much. Still, What 20 some year old chick is trying to immediately bang Tom Atkins. Lmao. Come on now. That's the one point that was always makes me question how long she was a robot.
A 40 minute Halloween 3 review?! I’m all here for it!! 🧡🖤🎃💀
❤️❤️❤️ thanks sweetheart
Dan O’Herlihy elevates this entire film. A fantastic performance, both charming and deathly sinister. He’s an occult flavored Bond Villain of the highest order. Masterful.
After 38 years, this film is still being talked about, and that fact alone speaks volumes. Thank you for showing some love for this unique oddity
It is so mean spirited, and yes, that shot rules so much
Everyone Always says the same thing. ‘“If this wasn’t a Halloween movie, it would great’. It’s part of what makes it great. It’s always talked about, as this weird anthology entry in the series. I’m glad it worked out the way it did.

@Zane Cassius definitely, I have been watching on Instaflixxer for years myself =)
I liked this movie as a Stand Alone in the series, it was Creepy as hell
This is my second favorite in the series, personally. Intense from start to finish. Love it.
So much more in depth than anyone else's reviews and really rewatchable 🤟🏼

It's the most Halloween movie of all the Halloween movies in the Halloween franchise.
This one, Halloween 6, and RZs H2 have the most atmosphere of the actual holiday of Halloween and Fall/October in the midwest.

H3 is my favorite Halloween movie. 11/10 unique and absurd.
❤️❤️❤️
Ok, so I admit, wasn't onboard when this originally came out, but in my defense it wasn't marketed properly. I thought we were getting another Michael Myers film. Watching in my adulthood, I appreciated it alot more, and can even admit as a kid found the movie to be creepy as heck......just was upset that Myers wasn't in it, but It's a great stand alone film.....and that creepy commercial song....ahhhhh
Awesome video brother! I'm a big Halloween fan myself..
Smart man
My absolute favorite!! Someone buy me the dvd...? 🙏🏽😃
Make sure to see the remake of Halloween dude
Speaking of the nose break kill, have you ever noticed in Halloween 5 that the mask that Michael wears in the car when he picks Tina up looks like that dudes face with a fucked up nose? I could be reaching.
Dick Warlock was the guy that breaks the nose. He was Michael in II.
Yeah kinda haha. Damn barbarian!
Hmm. I havent actually seen this - I know Dan O'Herlihy is in it right? The Old Man, from Robocop?
Yes
I loved season of the witch before it was cool to like it LoL and I love the ending it leaves u with that question did he or did he not get that last channel stopped. Another cool random fact is Tommy Lee wallace was born in the same hospital i was in somerset ky. Thumbs up on the review bud
You've got a new subbie! I love this channel. Awesome stuff for sure! 💯
That’s wonderful. Welcome love
I rewatched.... then noticed I'm crazy lol
I "secretly" wish this was how the Halloween series turned out.
Repeating Michael over and over for decades is just boring.
For being called Halloween, the series has very little to do with the holiday itself.
It would be so fun to see good movies like this being made in the 80's and 90's.
Yepa
Finally someone else who likes halloween I swear to god it feels like we are in the minority. So many horror groups hate on this movie.
Matt Smith the groups I’m in love it. You need to start dating other groups 😉 haha
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 man I really do I felt like an outcast in a fucking horror group how?? Lol on a side note I have the soundtrack to this one I fucking love it.
Absolutely love halloween 3 one of my all time favorite movies on a stand alone movie it is a awesome movie i have fun watching it and really enjoyed it
Stingey Cocheran! I'd be saying"But I want something different than everyone else!".
Hello Brother I Miss You're Older Reviews 🌟 🎥
Good thing they’re still around for you to watch
Not an abomination, but something I wouldn't brag about either...
hell yeahhh my favorite halloween movie man!
This movie is a masterpiece. Second only to the original halloween film
I love it so much
When he is talking to his wife before taking off with the 6 pack he tells her that he will talk to her on Monday while Halloween is on Sunday. Isn't he suppose to take his kids trick or treating?
He is so drunk he doesn’t know what year it is let alone the day
Lolzzzzz
i'm super drunk now.... lol
Karla Straight this movie rules!!
Micheal burnt up. Even I as a 10 yo knew he was dead. Guess I was smarter than some of you guys as kids....duh!!!!
I'm late. But present😏
this movie
guess I'll give it a 2nd viewing.
Halloween 3 is like my favorite of the Halloween franchise. I know, blasphemy. 🤣🤣🤣

So many chicks are into older men. I can buy it
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 older men, sure, I could buy it too. But Tom Atkins? After your dad just died? Lmao. She was a bit eager I think.
You just reviewed this.
Yesterday, I watched your review of Halloween II. I found it to be quite annoying.
