I'd say it's beyond youthful ignorance. That's a part of it, but I feel like he's always so close to connecting the dots and misses it in the most absurd way. Like if he gets put on a scavenger hunt, he would know that he needs to go to America for his thing, but insist that the best way to get there is by building a raft there or swimming or something.

Actually, so is Mars...sometimes. They're both orbiting the same star. The distance between Earth and Mars varies from (roughly) 4-22 light minutes depending on their position in their orbits. Sometimes we are between Mars and the sun and sometimes they are on the opposite side of the sun...huge distances 🤯
