I lost my boyfriend of two years in high school. This was his favorite group and song. He died in Nov. 1987. It changed my life completely. He died in a motorcycle accident, which I would have been on his bike if my mom wouldn't have reminded me to practice my piano.
Wonderful!! My girlfriend and I used to call the local college station in New Fairfield, CT repeatedly to request this song back in the day. Love the memories...
This album and song brought omd as a group further to the forefront of the music industry as a whole and doing what they were and still are great at making music.
What youn say is Bollox .. OMD s First 4v Albums are by far there Best ! After that they went back to the pointb it Was Andy McCluskey with Session Musicians .. then the rest Rejoined And they started Making Good Music again
The only O.M.D song that I've heard on the radio was IF YOU LEAVE and when I went to a videogame store like MID 80'S I have heard LA FEMME ACCIDENT and eventually purchased a O.M.D CD with FLAME OF HOPE on it . I'm not a DIEHARD FAN but I DO HAVE my favorites from said group!

Thought after 40 years it was time to see if 'bloc" meant something. Read of several similar words but no confirmation. But there is a word "cheugy" apparently. Then read it was likely just a randomly chosen word. So... there ya go. Never stop investigating. : )
Yeah there probably was some mining for this. The trumpets and trombones are replaced by E-mu Emulator brass. The sax is real. They also don’t really acknowledge the LinnDrum doing the bass drum and cowbell.
0:30 They show a trumpet and trombone playing, but those aren't in the final mix of the song, that part you hear when they are playing is a keyboard part. I wonder why they ditched it.

@benyuen The camera lies. OMD were a synth band, and at the time this was recorded were making heavy use of the Fairlight system whose screen is seen at the end of the clip. Surely that bassline is an obviously looped sequence?
It's not really a case of that. It's not that it has a distinctive sounds, it's that it's a sampler, so you can tell it's a sample if it's not something that doesn't sound quite right as a sound used for an instrument. That and the whopping great greenscreen monitor :p
@Alejandroenfuego I believe USA MTV has lost it’s direction. Should be re-branded RTV - Reality TV with all those repeat showings of Brett Michaeals and Flava Flave. They do not show music anymore. The early 80’s were great with their programming as they showed lot’s of European acts, but now it’s a waste of space. I recently lived in The Netherlands and VH1 Classic was awesome, but the US version of the channel shows movies instead of music. WTF?

MTV is dead in part because music today is not as innovative as during its heyday in the 80's. Videos were new back then, innovative as well, whereas videos can be seen in a myriad of places nowadays, and not as innovative as they used to be. It's all been done. Bands have to go back to being excellent musicians and making "real" music, instead of shit that passes for pop or R&R these days. There are only a handful of bands out there today producing decent music. The rest is commercial crap
