Pretty in Pink, The breakfast Club, Some kind of Wonderful, Sixteen candles, Mannequin and St Elmo's fire. An absolutely AAAAAAAWESOME set of movies!!!!!!
I was 9 in 1980, 19 in 1989. My entire pre-teen and teenage years were in the 80's. We had our troubles then like we do now of course. But, me and my friends rode our bikes carrying a boom box with us, lol. We made paths in the woods and found old abandoned houses and made them our clubhouses. Our parents took us to the video store and let us rent movies and have friends over for movie nights. Then, getting a license! Wow! The freedom! Now, we hit the mall all the time, or the beach, or rollerskating. Later in the 80's we started bring able to go to concerts, first one was Bon Jovi with opening act Skid Row. Going to amusement parks without the parents. Having to find pay phones to check in with our parents though, lol. There were hairstyles, and clothing styles, now, everyone pretty much looks the same.
This movie captures the essence of high school in the 80s absolutely perfectly. All of the fashion, the music. Talking on the phone with your girlfriends until the wee hours of the morning about boys, people at school. Direct contact with our friends. Not texting. Sitting together on a bed, putting on makeup, talking and laughing. Spending long hours playing records. It was another time.
I was born in 2007, but my childhood was entirely based on the 1980s. 80s music and movies was part of my childhood memories, I loved to watch movies in vhs tapes. Best time of my life.

i adore this movie with all my heart! i'm 15, and one of the only people around my school who's obsessed with older films, music, cars, fashion, and in general an old fashioned lifestyle. i find things to do other than hop on my phone right away, i take up my time with hobbies, and i don't have social media. My best summer I ever had was the summer of 1983, between 10th and 11th grade. No cell phones...just a bunch of boys and girls hanging out at night. We used to pool hop all the time. It was so fun. Now, if you tried to pool hop you would be shot on the spot. And, forget about walking around at night without worry. So lucky to have been a teenager in the 1980s...
Me too! I was a late bloomer; couldn't get rid of my greasy skin and pimply face, stick-straight, fine hair that couldn't hold a style. But I met my first real boyfriend in the 90's and we're still together.
To steal a line...37 years went under the bridge like time is standing still. Saw this movie in the theater when I was 16 and now I'm pushing 53. I still have some shirts from the 80s. 🤣
I remember this song at our high school graduation (ACHS) back in Saskatchewan back in 1986.....! Great song & great movie...! High school teen relationships were mainly for the jocks while the nerds ended up going to college or university (or just becoming an adult nerd....). Life goes on and class reunion is in another 10 years....!
All of them did great jobs in this movie, but John Cryer's acting in this movie was beyond great. It took some real talent to do what he did. He could express a whole speech with just facial expressions.
He was literally the best character of the entire movie. The actual love interest had no personality, charm or charisma at all😭😭😭 would take Duckie any day over him
@@johnkane4386 Haha, true, Duckie got his revenge. Except for his arch-enemy Spader, he still works. And Stanton and Potts still work. Molly and Andrew were the ones who really went downhill.

I came across your comment at the grief of love ones post here on RUclips. ☹️That’s so touching and I know how it feels to be lonely without our love ones, we've all loss our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I truly understand how you feel cos I’ve felt same unbearable experiences before but death is just inevitable no matter how hard we try! And we'll all have to face it someday, and every of our love ones we’ve loss will always want to see us happy again wherever they’re. I loss my oldest daughter Annabel February 24th 2020 in a crucial car accident, and she just turned 22 on her last birthday before she got knocked down by a moving vehicle 🚗 and so unlucky for me that horrible day the driver was drunk. That was the worst and most lamenting day of my whole life as a single Dad raising two kid's, my 17 years old son Clark and my 4 legged 🐶 families are my everything and the reason I still keep strong, and keep going! My late wife passed away three years ago from a shocking disease, I felt devastated with grief, and I was so heartbroken 💔 but God and time are indeed the best healers. Hope you’ve found peace, comfort and happiness again? I'd love to talk to you more if you don't mind! So it would be nice to get a reply from you when you got time okay. 🌹🌹
Class of 1983 !!! Yes youth of today it really was that great. There was something electric to be a teen back in that time. it was innocent but not overly so. Having your friends full attention hanging out led to so awesome friendships. nobody was glaring at any type of screen, well maybe video games at the arcade. I remember running to the phone on our kitchen wall when my girlfriend was calling, now that's old school.I remember when computers and hand held phones were becoming popular I thought it was awesome Now I wish they never existed
Hey the 70' s were great also ! I graduated in 74 and there was still respect in the world . Great dancing music with the greatest music ever leading into the brilliant 80's with so many unbelievable groups . It was a great time to be young.
Where is the time machine to go back to the awesome 80's because life was so less complicated, innocent and beautiful back then. I don't want to come back
Yes thank you god bc i was born in 81 and wouldn’t trade it Just bring me back and I’m here with This coronavirus epidemic 😷 I need the 80s to feel safe again good times music family and friends ❤️❤️
I miss being a teenager in the 80s when we would just hang out and have fun wether indoors or outdoors. I feel sorry for today's teenagers they don't communicate as much as we used to.
After watching Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, etc. I’ve finally got a sense of style and I’m giving all thanks to John Hughes :D
Omg me too! I know I loved him in hiding out as well damn he is fine! And yes I know he turned into Alan Harper on two and half men just shows what a great actor he is ;) and always will be duckie and sexy as hell
Anyone in their teens to early 20's in the 80's should feel very special. The 80s were an incredible, fun loving, uncomplicated, awesome, magical and exciting time to be young and just starting out in world. I would hate to have been starting out in my early years during the 90s, 00s up to 21. These eras were the complete opposite to the 80s I feel so sorry for people growing up in these eras. 80's The Best Decade Music, movies, love and life.
"If You Leave" Bravo!!! Amazing Song! Pretty in Pink Movie Let's Go!!! 12/2024 Check in!
We don’t search for old songs, we search for old memories.
I love this song, can listen to it over and over. Never gets old to me.
Me 2
Me to it was the best 😊
And written in two days, beforebstarting a world tour because the movie got another ending.
OMD ...my favourite group
Wish we could bring back the 80's and 90's coolness. Those eras had that magical touch to them.
Me too! I was a late bloomer; couldn't get rid of my greasy skin and pimply face, stick-straight, fine hair that couldn't hold a style. But I met my first real boyfriend in the 90's and we're still together.
It's gonna really suck in 40 years when people say wish we could go back to the 2020s. Lol
The 80's were the best decade ever hands down
To steal a line...37 years went under the bridge like time is standing still. Saw this movie in the theater when I was 16 and now I'm pushing 53. I still have some shirts from the 80s. 🤣
We belong to a very special era, the 70s and 80s were unique decades.
I miss those years. ❤
I graduated high school in '77. The 80s were fun times.
I lived thru the 80's. Best times of my life!
Feel like crying, miss the 80's...today music&movies are trash..sadly can't go back to those great years...
I was and will always love the 80's and wish i could give my daughter the 80's
What a GREAT comment!!!
80’s rule! Awesome movies!!! Awesome music! No fucking politics! We all got along! Best years by far! So wanna go back! Thanks for the memories!
All of those 80's movies had TERRIFIC soundtracks!
All of them did great jobs in this movie, but John Cryer's acting in this movie was beyond great. It took some real talent to do what he did. He could express a whole speech with just facial expressions.
That's why he's the only actor still working from this movie.
JON
He was literally the best character of the entire movie. The actual love interest had no personality, charm or charisma at all😭😭😭 would take Duckie any day over him
@@johnkane4386 Haha, true, Duckie got his revenge. Except for his arch-enemy Spader, he still works. And Stanton and Potts still work. Molly and Andrew were the ones who really went downhill.
finally Ducki finished alone..the best end
Oh my gosh I was a teenager in the 80's life was so simple music was fun films like this were inspirational 👌💖
+MsMimilala i love it also when i got older
+MsMimilala I was long-past being a teenager in the 80's, but I agree with you
+MsMimilala i was a teen with jheri curls , and looking brolic Lol
+MsMimilala inspirational but soooo UN-real.. un-realistic. REAL LIFE was never like this.. there is never a "happy ending"
The guy never gets the girl... girl never wants the decent guy.. she wants the sh*tbag....
TH3_V1k1ng ...it's just a movie dam 😞... but it was a happy ending Ducky got that rich girl in the end ✋
A freshman in ‘88… OMD & PiP was my adolescents! ❤
This song, this movie, they bring me back. I don't know why I watch these videos and put myself through this.
I ask myself the same thing.
My heart sprints everytime I hear the first beats of this song. I can barely breathe at the nostalgia and emotions I feel for a wonderful time I was blessed to experience and live through. God I miss those days 🥲
There is not evr gonna b that i agree its extint.
Nostalgia is wonderful. 💔
Absolutely 💯
James Spader was HOT!!!
Andrew McCarthy was Cute!!!
Jon Cryer was Adorable!!! :)
If there were 'boys' in school that looked like James and Andrew..whew I never would have left.
I was in love with James Spader...💖 (sigh)..
Agree
I am in love with Blaine ❤❤❤
@@JJ-vm6lx me tooooo he was and still is hot!!!
Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller, back to the Future, Karate Kid,, Breakfast Club… if you were an 80’s kid, you watched and adored at least one of these films in your youth.
God I miss the 80’s… life was a lot simpler back then. No internet, no cell phones… at least if you were bullied you could kicked the crap out of them right there and then…love was a lot simpler as well… I will forever miss the best years of my life, being a teenage in the 80’s
Even now 40 yrs later ,,still get that feeling of being in high school ,,going to home coming's ,prom's ,sadie hawkins ,,the best of times to be a teenager,, To LANA ALVA ,, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING ,,YOU MADE IT ALL THE BETTER !111 JEFFREY ZARATE ❤❤❤
John Hughes
He knew music.
He knew teenagers and teen-aged life.
He knew situational humour.
He knew how to present them cinematic-ally.
John Hughes -- genius. May he rest in peace.
(Ignorant critics killed his interest in 1991; he died of a heart attack in 2009, aged 59.)

I respect you, man.
so true
+KiraDevilJinGames Thanks; I've corrected my typo.

@@andybenitez6980 hi
I closed my eyes and went back to my teenage years. ❤ The 80s era was by far the best ever.
i miss the 80's

The more the years go by, the more I miss them...
King Without A Crown Yes, indeed. I totally agree with you.
King Without A Crown absolutely
the 80's....zeitgeist!

What you have said, is the highest true in life.
Yup!
My late husband and I met 1983 I was 23 and he was 19 , we watched this movie together and i loved it. I hear this song I think of him and the way we were back then . Him and I were the 80”s ! Best decade ever !
Sorry for your loss
Class of 1983 !!! Yes youth of today it really was that great. There was something electric to be a teen back in that time. it was innocent but not overly so. Having your friends full attention hanging out led to so awesome friendships. nobody was glaring at any type of screen, well maybe video games at the arcade. I remember running to the phone on our kitchen wall when my girlfriend was calling, now that's old school.I remember when computers and hand held phones were becoming popular I thought it was awesome Now I wish they never existed
I want to go back to the 80s now. Great times I was 11yrs of age when this movie came out.
i walked out of the 80s and my childhood. didnt even look back, not knowing how precious one day those years would be. Cant go back. oh but if could!
i wish the eighties would never leave.
I agree!
Well, in another 60 years or so, it will be the 80s again...if that helps.
@@joegriego3091 No, it doesn't.
@@itsjustme8554 Nice thought.

I just love the 80's
BEST ERA EVEERRRRRRRR!!!!😘😘😘
Those 80s' teen movies, that synth-pop music, incredible time back then!!
80's forever man, pop, rock, heavy metal, great movies, we had it all.
Hey the 70' s were great also ! I graduated in 74 and there was still respect in the world . Great dancing music with the greatest music ever leading into the brilliant 80's with so many unbelievable groups . It was a great time to be young.
I agree. Class of 79. The 70's rocked.
Where is the time machine to go back to the awesome 80's because life was so less complicated, innocent and beautiful back then. I don't want to come back
This was one heck of a decade in music, movies and trends. I'm so lucky to have been a part of the 80s. Thank you God 🙏
Never mind some invisible god; word to your mother...she's the one that hatched you.
@@MokkaMatti shut up !
Yes thank you god bc i was born in 81 and wouldn’t trade it Just bring me back and I’m here with This coronavirus epidemic 😷 I need the 80s to feel safe again good times music family and friends ❤️❤️

Glad I grew up in the 80's with all the best songs.
Give me 5
Whats best 1 ever
I miss being a teenager in the 80s when we would just hang out and have fun wether indoors or outdoors. I feel sorry for today's teenagers they don't communicate as much as we used to.
Why do y'all always think that I don't get that.

This song....wow...absolutely beautiful...reaches a place deep inside...
Ye absolutely love this tune
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark still superb today
After watching Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, etc. I’ve finally got a sense of style and I’m giving all thanks to John Hughes :D
"Am I nothing to you?". --Ferris Bueller's Day Off
and my fave some kind of wonderful :)
@@dianne6155 My fav the Breakfast Club I don't why. I was in my early 20s and even I connected with a John Hughes comedies.
Check out Hiding Out. 1987. John Cryer in a beard was shockingly good looking.
His movies are all genius. 💔
After watching the movie, I have the biggest crush on Duckie❤😍
Maybe you will like him better as alan harper on two and a half men. LOL
SAAAMMEEE
I found him annoying.
Omg me too! I know I loved him in hiding out as well damn he is fine! And yes I know he turned into Alan Harper on two and half men just shows what a great actor he is ;) and always will be duckie and sexy as hell
See. HIDING OUT. Loved it
Anyone in their teens to early 20's in the 80's should feel very special. The 80s were just mind blowing.
Damn straight!!!
Agreed!
I don’t know what I loved more, Molly Ringwald’s wardrobe, Jon Cryer’s performance, or the awesome soundtrack……
