      I had a similar experience like this movie 1989 I was a senior.. I was a Dicki and secretly loved this girl i met her at a dance the last school dance before graduation so I wanted to tell her how I felt and she decided to screw a guy at the dance..I was devastated.

      Yeah really wasn't any of that stuff in the late 90s or early 2000s either .... I say that cus that was more of my teenage years as I was born In 84 but it seems like cell phones really didn't boom until mid 2010s or so for real. I mean to the point where it interfered with real in life social activities like it does now. :(

  • @845835
    @845835 4 года назад +1320

    Jon Cryer has spoken publicly in the past about how he was basically dismissed by Molly and Andrew because of a combination of being younger, less famous, and not a member of the 80's Brat Pack but in his defense he was excellent in this role. He played the ultimate tormented good guy forever trapped in the friend zone. If you were to look up trapped in the friend zone the first picture that should pop up deserves to be that of Duckie. Outstanding job Jon this movie would not have been a classic without you.

    I was 9 in 1980, 19 in 1989. My entire pre-teen and teenage years were in the 80's. We had our troubles then like we do now of course. But, me and my friends rode our bikes carrying a boom box with us, lol. We made paths in the woods and found old abandoned houses and made them our clubhouses.
    Our parents took us to the video store and let us rent movies and have friends over for movie nights. Then, getting a license! Wow! The freedom! Now, we hit the mall all the time, or the beach, or rollerskating. Later in the 80's we started bring able to go to concerts, first one was Bon Jovi with opening act Skid Row. Going to amusement parks without the parents. Having to find pay phones to check in with our parents though, lol. There were hairstyles, and clothing styles, now, everyone pretty much looks the same.

    This movie captures the essence of high school in the 80s absolutely perfectly. All of the fashion, the music. Talking on the phone with your girlfriends until the wee hours of the morning about boys, people at school. Direct contact with our friends. Not texting. Sitting together on a bed, putting on makeup, talking and laughing. Spending long hours playing records. It was another time.

    i adore this movie with all my heart! i'm 15, and one of the only people around my school who's obsessed with older films, music, cars, fashion,and in general an old fashioned lifestyle. i find things to do other than hop on my phone right away, i take up my time with hobbies, and i don't have social media. I truly just want to live my life the way it was back then- but it's difficult to do considering nobody else is doing these things with me. sure it makes me odd, but i just wish so badly i could've lived during these times. Nothing beats the way these movies make me feel, i can't imagine actually being there.

It was so fun. Now, if you tried to pool hop you would be shot on the spot. And, forget about walking around at night without worry. So lucky to have been a teenager in the 1980s...

      I came across your comment at the grief of love ones post here on RUclips. ☹️That’s so touching and I know how it feels to be lonely without our love ones, we've all loss our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I truly understand how you feel cos I’ve felt same unbearable experiences before but death is just inevitable no matter how hard we try! And we'll all have to face it someday, and every of our love ones we’ve loss will always want to see us happy again wherever they’re. I loss my oldest daughter Annabel February 24th 2020 in a crucial car accident, and she just turned 22 on her last birthday before she got knocked down by a moving vehicle 🚗 and so unlucky for me that horrible day the driver was drunk. That was the worst and most lamenting day of my whole life as a single Dad raising two kid's, my 17 years old son Clark and my 4 legged 🐶 families are my everything and the reason I still keep strong, and keep going! My late wife passed away three years ago from a shocking disease, I felt devastated with grief, and I was so heartbroken 💔 but God and time are indeed the best healers. Hope you’ve found peace, comfort and happiness again?
      I'd love to talk to you more if you don't mind! So it would be nice to get a reply from you when you got time okay. 🌹🌹

Having your friends full attention hanging out led to so awesome friendships. nobody was glaring at any type of screen, well maybe video games at the arcade. I miss being a teenager in the 80s when we would just hang out and have fun wether indoors or outdoors. I feel sorry for today's teenagers they don't communicate as much as we used to.

    After watching Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, etc. I’ve finally got a sense of style and I’m giving all thanks to John Hughes :D

      Check out Hiding Out. 1987. John Cryer in a beard was shockingly good looking.

    Anyone in their teens to early 20's in the 80's should feel very special. The 80s were an incredible, fun loving, uncomplicated, awesome, magical and exciting time to be young and just starting out in world. I would hate to have been starting out in my early years during the 90s, 00s up to 21. These eras were the complete opposite to the 80s I feel so sorry for people growing up in these eras. The 80s were just mind blowing.

    I don’t know what I loved more, Molly Ringwald’s wardrobe, Jon Cryer’s performance, or the awesome soundtrack……
