Thanks for the wonderful tips. I will be going vineyard hopping soon next month & the past few vids I have watched by you will allow me to have a better experience. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Oh, fyi... You're super cute & have a beautiful sense of humor & I mean that in a complementing manner. 😋
I can't tell you how many times this happened to me at restaurants in France and Italy. In nearly every case the year was wrong, or it was a lower quality version of the same brand of wine. I'm not sure if it was because we were tourists, the menus were outdated, the waiter didn't care, or some combination of all of those.
A know-it-all friend of mine told me how once, after the waiter poured him a sample, he tasted it and said "A bit dry, but it will do." Supposedly this impressed everyone, but I'm just picturing the waiter's expression!
We ordered a Barbaresco at an Italian restaurant. The lighting was very dim and the woman has one heck of a time getting the cork out. When she poured some wine into my glass I was pleased. Once both glasses had wine in them and the bottle was left on the table I looked more closely. It was a 2012 Barolo from a good producer. I had a good bottle of wine and a dilemma on my hands.
Reminds me of a wine scene from the movie "eating Raul". Paul compares a brand of wine called Mountain Brook to a bottle of lighter fluid. Calls it undrinkable.
In a small Italian restaurant I ordered a Barbara and the waitress brought out a Barolo, 2012. In the dim light and having just drive down from high in the Sierras I didn't notice. The waitress had a difficult time with the cork and after a few minutes poured me a taste. Now what do I do?
I may he mistaken, but if it tastes like tootsie roll, then it isn't for chocolate lovers, because tootsie roll is much more high fructose corn syrup than chocolate.

I would add that if one is ordering a bottle of wine it should be opened up at the table.
You are the best!! So cute!!

Flawless description. Great video. Do you enjoy Meads (PIPs Meadery) or beers or farmhouse ales (Side Project in St Louis)? Just curious

Best quote, "It looks like wine." Far too kind.

I don't know why they always cut the foil; just squeeze the foil and it will shimmy off in no time.
PIA (Pain In the Ass) factor has a value.
