What beautiful sheep! Thank you Cammy, for sharing this experience with us! Appreciate your knowledge on the sheep and the sale. Nice to see Lizzie and Jock. How can he keep getting cuter every time we see him!? 💕
The pen looked great Cammy. Also, the editing and presentation of this one was amazing. Made me feel like I was watching a presentation on landward. Jock and Lizzie looked to be in great spirits can’t wait for the next one.
@@RICDirector I like the longer ones, but Cammy and Lizzie are busy with young Jock and the sheep so these are probably better for them time management wise. Hopefully once things calm down again we’ll get longer videos but until then I’ll watch the shorter videos on here and go to his Facebook to see what videos he has there. Some mighty good exclusive content on that platform if I do say so myself.
The sheep are lovely, but that little lamb of yours steals the show! Jock just gets cuter by the day. Mama did good producing that boy. I think she is a beauty too.
Hi Cammy.... Love the Scotch Mule & they're a breeze to shear too aye! Your uploads are what keeps me checking into uTube on slack days. Keep 'em rolling in Cammy.
This was a great lil looksee into the sheepmarket! Thanks for letting us tag along. I hope the new ladies will be productive, healthy and thrive on your fields.
Really enjoying the insight of Scottish sale barns. Here in Texas, it's a little different but you guys are ahead of us a few hundred years. All the animals are so beautiful. We rarely see anything but Dorpers and Rambouillet at auction. In our 104 degree summers, all those beautiful Scottish sheep might struggle a little. My Navajo Churros are not as soft but they do just fine in the wild west.
A boy Cammy another good video 👍. The £180 pen were fantastic looking sheep. You got a nice few ewe too, make a nice addition to your flock. Jock is getting very big 💪
Cammy you've got to check out the first mule ewe lamb sale at Wallets Marts at Castle Douglas, if you want to see expensive lambs. Top price £230. With 7000 lambs going through the ring it's a long day.
Good morning from Rowlett Texas ☀️ I’m excited to be here with first of post. Many blessing to you and your family 🙏 The sheep look awesome. Nice buy. I don’t suppose looking cute is a measure of a quality of ewe though. Lol
Your flock are beautiful Cammy and watching the sale so interesting. And at the end we got to see your beautiful Lizzy and wee Jock (Happy Birthday 🥳 🍭🎊🎂 🍡 🎉 🧸 🍭 🍦🍰🐑 Jock!)
Hard to decide which sheep I like more. Then a sweet little cameo from wee Jock and he just blows them all out of the water! Great vid Cammy! Keep em coming!!
Quality vid mate, short, professional and informative. Don't get too professional though! We need some goofiness though you've sure had some proper goofs as seen on FB. Question: have you done a video that outlines a year of sheep farming? I get confused when you lamb, shear, tup, sell etc. Especially being in the opposite seasons. What season do people tend to buy ewes/gimmers and why then?
Thanks mate. I’ll try find a balance! Yeah i maybe should do a video covering a year in farming! We buy and sell breeding sheep now as tupping time is Oct / Nov. Ram sale videos will be starting next week 👍
You and Wendy Rowland have answered my question about the color. How about the trimming. It seems all the faces, heads and necks are sheared. Are the sheep all cleaned up for the auction?? Love your videos and give Lizzie and Jock a hug for me.
Why are they yellow? I thought it might be the lighting at first, but their heads and feet still have distinctly white areas. I'm talking about some of the batches that were for sale, not the ones you bought.
Why are some of the sheep yellow? I was at a Scottish Fair where I first saw that colour. I miss Scotland and I hope I can visit again. On one trip I put 2,000 miles on a rental. Mary McLeod Schermerhorn
@@TheSheepGame understand, thought it was a new wool ‘breed’ colouring Cammy until you showed the others of the same breed not coloured. Thank you for answering. ❤️🇦🇺🏴
With the spread between your fat lambs and those gimmers you couldn't really go wrong. As long as you aren't putting the tup out with them right away they should flesh up nicely. Good luck. Good video as per usual!
Cammie, I have two questions about the sale this year. 1) why didn't the champion lot win best price? What was so special about the others that they outsold them by a clear margin? And 2) I believe that I detected that the auction barn has yellow light. I remember from last year that the lambs couldn't possibly be such an unnatural color. Why do they do this, if I am correct? Note: Jock has turned into an absolute unit! Look at how big and fair he's become. And such a smile! He's going to be quite the lady-killer as a young man! Nay, at primary! Lizzy looks dazzling as always...
The yellow sheep have been bloom dipped using a coloured dye, just a show and presentation thing. One farmer in England has dyed his sheep pink in order that they stand out to put off rustlers.
Yeah as Wendy sAid they have been dipped to look that colour but the light above the ring is a bit yellow too. The champion pen is just decided on 1 person’s opinion so obviously other buyers thought the other pen was worth more. A lot of these farms have loyal customers that will buy their sheep every year no matter the price.
@@TheSheepGame I have a little tale about a friend who had his pedigree rams judged before sale at Builth Well. His was the outstanding ram lamb but the judge did not place it. It sold to a much higher price than the rest and the other breeders told the judge, “Well that didn’t work out for you then”.
Tidy gimmers Cammy, at least with gimmers there proven breeders. As you know there's nothing worse than buying stock to find you've a couple that can't carry, and you won't get your money back on them.
Those yellow sheep must be dyed or dipped right? I've seen the texel sheep and some of them look so yellow, but where they are clipped its white? Is this like body builder tanning to make the wool look better?
Excellent video. I think you did well with your buy. Question: Any chance you can "follow" these new ewes to let us watch their progress? Is there some way to watch them through their next lambing?
For ewe lambs the price of a top breeders pen is often inflated to bring up the price the next following pens. You can expect and should have negotiated before bidding a large amount of luck money in cash if you win them
I noticed that the sheep are clipped and dipped. Do you do show clips? As a dog groomer there are different styles for function. Is there a standard for show/sale sheep?
Hi Helen, so all the mules in this video would be off of ‘Crossing Type’ Blue Faced Leicesters. The lambs i liked with lighter faced are off of Traditional Blue Faced Leicesters 😁
I know why they color the sheep like that, but I don't really "get" it. I personally think they look nicer their natural color. But you got a nice looking bunch of sheep there, hopefully they'll do well for you! 😄
As pretty as those ewes were .....jox jocks not sure how you guys spell it ....but he was the cutest part of the video that dang smile and that beautiful blonde hair he is just the cutest little fella ever to adorable...
Nice pen of lambs you bought. What are the advantages and inconvenient of suckled gimmers? Are they cheaper but a shortened working life? PS: not a specialist but the shearing wasn’t the best on these girls, it looks irregular. 😄
Still no mate really sorry i was in a bit of a rush with this one! Sorry to keep letting u down if u could just email it again so i can find it we’ll get it on first chance it get! 😁

The real treat was the big smile from Jock at the end of the video.
Awwww🥰🥰🥰
The pen looked great Cammy. Also, the editing and presentation of this one was amazing. Made me feel like I was watching a presentation on landward. Jock and Lizzie looked to be in great spirits can’t wait for the next one.
Yeah i think shorter snappier vids are better ☺️
I much prefer the longer lazier ones... ;)

Oh my goodness, Jock steals the show….he is adorable 😊🥰
I agree. He looks like he will be walking and running very soon. Chasing the lambs and his dad.
I think you got yourself a fine flock of new sheep. I love their coloring.
Yay! New gimmers. Thanks for taking the time to video all the sales experiences. We’d never get to see this otherwise.

What breed are the first group that sold? Is their wool naturally yellow?
All Scotch Mules that were actually sold in this video. I’ll explain the wool colouring at the next sale 😁

Those sheep I would love on my farm in Australia
Never seen thus kind of sheep before, I am more familiar with goats. I do find it interesting though. Farm life fascinates me.
Cammy what did you mean by “ more traditional mules?” Would you be able to explain so I can recognise what you are describing at all ? Thanks
Hi Helen, so all the mules in this video would be off of ‘Crossing Type’ Blue Faced Leicesters. The lambs i liked with lighter faced are off of Traditional Blue Faced Leicesters 😁
What's the yellow colour on the ewes

When someone pays crazy cash for a Tup how do they get the money back? do they rent them out or just rely on the offspring?
Usually just rely on the offspring but all the rams in my last video were split between three farms so they get to use 160k ram for £54k
