High surf returns to Redondo Beach Friday evening

- Just a day after a high surf warning was implemented for beaches along the Southern California coast, in the wake of a huge storm, strong waves returned to Redondo Beach, creating flooding concerns for many. Lauren Pozen reports.
In the summer of 1972 I used to walk the 2 blocks from my home there with my 1 year old son , cross the Pacific Coast Highway and spend hours on Redondo Beach! I loved the pier! Long ago memories from a snowy Maine island ~~ Wishing you all stay safe!

Viewed waves traveling over pier vertical level, through existing restaurant windows, tossing existing wood pilons with ease. Post designated storm, pier was retrofitted metal pilons, set within cross pattern safety requirements at said time. This storm is nothing more than average, when compared to extraordinary 20'+ front faced waves, this storm moderate, exaggerated within extraordinary.

@@xtinamarie_333 I was born in RB, raised and grew up in Manhattan and surfed from the 80’s to the early 2000’s year round from Porto to the breakwall. At least every other year in the winter I’ve seen it like this when it was firing on a west swell.
