    • @stoirmslw7195
      @stoirmslw7195 Год назад

      This would naturally happen given time, all they've done is sped it up, the river isn't powerfull enough to overpower the ocean and keep flowing all the time, so the waves end up blocking the river with sediment until enough water builds up to overflow or compromise the dam through the weight of the water. Outside of this I do not know much about or the name of this phenomena but it will happen again and again many times human intervention or not, I'd also assume in most places this is naturally a yearly occurrence but depending on regional rain fall it could happen more often.
      I realize now that you are likely talking about the storm's effect on beaches as a whole now, thats what I get for looking at the comments before watching the video> XD

    Have seen beaches stripped of sand. And the power of the waves undermining pilings that held up businesses...which were washed into the Puget Sound.

    This has happened before. Behind you across the street is a phone CO. The vault/basement in that building has been full of water and the parking lot at the park fully submerged.
    PCH & Broadway has been underwater.
    There’s another CO up the street next door to Trader Joe’s at Beach & Broadway. If you go around on to Beach you can see what was once doors that are now sealed shut because so much water was coming down the canal that is along side Laguna Canyon then goes underground before opening back up at Beach, it pushed in those security doors that were once there and flooded that building and it’s vault/basement.
    Growing up par-time in Malibu. Every winter along Las Tunas Beach it wasn’t uncommon to have to wait for sets before passing by that section of PCH. Even then you’d have to gun it to beat the next set.
    History in each one’s lives makes for good stories in the future.

    may seem like a weird question.. do you always break it in the middle?
    i ask because.. could be something with the sand thats washed out simply being re-deposited back on shore... perhaps theres some way to send it at more of an angle and have it wash back up farther down the beach one way or the other....
    we had to do something like this with a tidal pond on a friends grandparents property years ago.. the stream kept being blocked in by sand from boats going by.. and the fact it dumped sort of almost pointing into the current.. over time it would block back off both from tides and boards/jetskis/etc going by.. weirdly though after draining it using a longer rout we made with a ditch witch and hand tools, that dumped the sand into a spot where it was washed down stream rather then back into the mouth of the stream/pond/etc.. eventually the grandad actually had the thing made into a perm manual spillway and when the state came in and replaced the road and bridge they fixed the main outlet so it stopped backing up so bad, and also cleaned and improved the old mans emergency spillway, as one of their people realized it was keeping them from being flooded out during the work they were doing.. old man opened it up when he saw they were about to start working in a few days and dropped the level by over a foot *due to the sand bank*
    now the pond gets cleared every few years of sediment on the end where the creek/stream comes in.. and the spillway has been setup with remote automation so it can be opened from either his home or by state employees, since its on his land they had to give him access to the controls.. mostly its where locals come to swim and fish during the summer.. camp as well since hes got a small paid campground next to the states camp-ground-rest-stop...

Those riding the wood planks then were surfing beyond the end of the pier at Malibu, according to the late Frank Grannis. In September '76, it rained heaps, but the waves were at best head high.
