If you like this song ( which I love), take the time also to listen to Lord is it Mine - from the same album. Another deep, soul- searching cry for help from loneliness and dsepair. These songs come from very deep inside the heart of a special human being - Roger Hodgson.
I was a ten yrs old in 1970 and the rock and pop music was amazing, starting with the Beatles in 1965, but the music to come would spoil me rotten and these guys had more than a few great songs like this one.
Absolutely Amazing song takes me back fifty something years ,and the video is awesome , you really believe you are taking that walk with that man . Nick 70 years old from England 🏴
@unclesimon1179; The 70's & 80's had the very best of music. There was so much of it, that I even took it for granted that it would last. Boy, was I wrong!!
I lived in Seffner Florida when this hit the airwaves and my family roots were back home in Indiana. This song was about everything I understood at that moment in time. I was a 10 to 14yr old during those years and finally went back to Indiana to finish school and find a career. Now nearly 40 years later,, that music, the volume, the variety.... it was absolutely amazing. Super tramp, Yes, Genesis, Tom Petty, .38special, AC/DC, Charlie Daniel's, Molly Hatchet, The Baby's, Whitesnake,,, man. We had the absolute best music in the 80's.
We need to hangout. I've got a good turntable. This song came out in 1979. I was driving a 55 chevy 210. Cranked up while I was driving interstate 5 to work. Oh the memories
@martinollis AC/DC was singular in that,,, I had absolutely no idea why,, but their sound made me want to move, lift, haul.... [my best friend wanted to get in shape to improve our chances with girls so we had started at Frank Calta's 'Super Fitness' on Busch Blvd. in Tampa] and man,,, doing reps when AC/DC came on,,,, you could hear the plates rattle all the louder throughout the gym.... those were heady days. Got to meet Arnold Schwarzenegger because Frank was a great friend of his.... even now I marvel at the turns in life and the punctuation that music has been at so many of those moments.
@dudleydooright6181 those old shoebox chevies are a damn ICON on the American landscape. Hot Rod did a series on a 57 210 that they customized in the magazine and painted it a high yellow orange like Omaha highway department was using and that was before CNC machines were common but I think that 210 got billet wheels from either Boyd's or Pete and Jake's speed shop..... But you're right. Ahhh the memories.
Supertramp - Take The Long Way Home Lyrics: So, you think you're a Romeo Playing a part in a picture show Well, take the long way home Take the long way home 'Cause you're the joke of the neighborhood Why should you care if you're feelin' good? Well, take the long way home Take the long way home There are times that you feel you're part of the scenery All the greenery is comin' down, boy And then your wife seems to think you're part of the furniture Oh, it's peculiar, she used to be so nice When lonely days turn to lonely nights You take a trip to the city lights And take the long way home Take the long way home You never see what you want to see Forever playing to the gallery You take the long way home Take the long way home When you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable Oh, unforgettable, how they adore you But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity Oh, calamity, is there no way out? Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe? Oh, it has to be, for you to grow, boy When you look through the years and see what you could have been Oh, what you might have been If you would have more time So when the day comes to settle down Who's to blame if you're not around? You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home You took the long way home Long way home Long way home Long way home Long way home Long way home Long way home Long way home Written by: Richard Davies, Roger Hodgson Album: Breakfast In America Released: 1979 Lyrics provided by Musixmatch
Omg its been so do long since i heard this,i was a small child lost in the care system i remember hearing this regularly a staff member loved this kind of music and always played it thanks for the memories. Now i have a beautiful reason to like this song ty boo.❤😊
Em 1977 eu ia semanalmente de sao paulo a cumbica, na BASP, e curtia muito o caminho para a base onde fazia meu curso de cabos. Naquela epoca curtia um som que se mostrou imortalizado por grupos como o supertramp. Era feliz.

Absolutely correct, the credentials as seen in the description are presets given by the RUclips licensing team, I guess. Breakfast in America ... every song on the album is a pearl that makes me reminisce.

Great video: for us regular guys who don't seem to be special enough for a womans' love & respect. Just today my narcissistic ex-father- in-law (also a lawyer & a bully) threatened my life. I guess NOT harassing my ex- "wife" for the past 10 months became boring for him. Self Proclaimed Elitists 🤮 Ezekiel 28:5, Mark 10:23
Try making the videos without putting your face in the middle of it. If you just wanna "be you" that's fine, but don't expect lotsa likes if you want your face to be a focal point. The rest of the video was pretty good.
61 now and i still think the 70s and 80s were the Ultimate Decades for Music, oh to go back
I'm 69 and I fully agree!!
I agree. Late 60s, 70s and early to mid 80s.
I'm 76 and i agree and would like to seriously include the 50'S and 60's! it was a beautiful era!
I can't keep up. So I really don't know what the best decade was. I liked 90s best, with what I remember.
73 years old now and really get what this song is all about these lyrics have meant a lot to me over the years we all just need to stay strong
Make your own journey in life 🎉
And for those who are hurting , things WILL get better. GOD Bless.
REALLY? 😳

Thank-you, I grew up on country roads and spent many hours in the forests of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Loved the way it was, lotta great memories.
I can hear this song 1000 times and i will love it always!!!
Spent my childhood taking the long way home.
am 67 and live in the far east. we could hardly get music like this back in the day. but thanks to SW radio managed to enjoy in my youth.
Better than taking the wrong way home. That harp intro will last forever.

Supertramp: Awesome 😂
A classic master piece from to me one of the greatest band from the 70 s
Like quite a few bands from the 70s, Supertramp were massively underrated in my opinion. ❤😊
Mis hermanos recuerdo en los 90’s llevaron este disco a casa y desde ese momento nos gusta su música ❤
Beautiful scenery that day Mark❤
Supertramp - Take The Long Way Home Lyrics:
So, you think you're a Romeo
Playing a part in a picture show
Well, take the long way home
Take the long way home
'Cause you're the joke of the neighborhood
Why should you care if you're feelin' good?
Well, take the long way home
Take the long way home
There are times that you feel you're part of the scenery
All the greenery is comin' down, boy
And then your wife seems to think you're part of the furniture
Oh, it's peculiar, she used to be so nice
When lonely days turn to lonely nights
You take a trip to the city lights
And take the long way home
Take the long way home
You never see what you want to see
Forever playing to the gallery
You take the long way home
Take the long way home
When you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable
Oh, unforgettable, how they adore you
But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity
Oh, calamity, is there no way out?
Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe?
Oh, it has to be, for you to grow, boy
When you look through the years and see what you could have been
Oh, what you might have been
If you would have more time
So when the day comes to settle down
Who's to blame if you're not around?
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
Long way home
Long way home
Long way home

It tells me that instead the short road there would be a good long way home too you can think it over
This video reminds me of how alone I am in the world.

I really don't think people understand the meaning of this song
I do oh yes
If You are "picked on" going home, You take "the LONG way home.
To me it means don't use drugs, don't go about the way of the wold. Do it the original way. Not the way I chose, though. To my detriment
Roger didn’t really know either. He gave a few examples of what it COULD mean
No Short cuts if it's worthwhile....
