I grew up and became a psychologist. This is the theme song for loving/helping others. I’m retired now. My heart still wells. Supertramp, an amazing body of work. All of you!
Yes most definitely a true genius, I always remember my older brother playing them and from about the age 5)6 I've listened to them although not understanding what most of them where about at that age but,by the age of about 8/9 I started to understand all of their music, plus my brother was also a DJ,so I was very lucky to have had such a genre of music 🎶 but supertramp are one of my all time favourites and I'm 55. 👌🙏❤️🏴

Yes many of us feel the same way some do not feel the need to comment, I as 78 year old female have nothing to lose by voicing my opinion, this track means so much to so many people, not just this song from Roger, he understood life's frustrations, shared by all, so we hear his songs, understand the lyrics and share his feelings. Thank you Rodger.

When I listened this song for the first time, I was a fifthteen year old boy, my parents passed away on the same year, I was living between doubts and confussion, so it was like If this song was compossed for me exclusively, giving me the hope to getting ahead in my life, was like an hymne to get strange to go on... Thanks a lot to you Roger for this song wich have made me to go on through life, I still listen it and makes me cry even, It has been with me in my hardest moments in life.......
Wow. That was really moving. You can tell the song came from deep within. The songs music and lyrics as well as the beautiful harmonies truly were made with great care to invoke an emotional reaction .
Rodger you are the best I heard you growing up and I still listen to your music you are just the wonderful good person and for those who you out there that never knew about Rogers accident with his wrist the doctor said that he would never be able to play again well he proved them wrong he's stuck in there is back on the keyboards God bless God bless and another thing these guys should be in the Hall of Fame why aren't these people in the Hall of Fame Rodger come on let's all get on their case and get Rodger in the Hall of Fame Supertramp Bedrock everybody's world some people don't realize they're one of the best fans on the planet Earth keep on rockin Rodger we all love you and one more thing people that are not apparent don't realize when you have kids you got to take care of them that's why he had to leave he had to leave and he came back on his own terms that's a real man that's a real father cuz I'm a father and I love my kids it's been entertaining all of us and making us all happy it's about time he has time with his family to keep him happy because of these happy that means you can make other people happy may God bless you may God bless your children
For anyone loving music the seventies were a wonderful time to be young with bands like Supertramp but also Led Zeppelin, Procol Harum , Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Yes to name a few
If everyone listen to the original song, you can feel Roger's voice entering your chest and throw out all your anger and shake your heart feelings with a lot of emotions... I'm sixty now, and its been 45 years listening to super tramp and still feeling the same old emotions that will die with my last breath.
@@nasseronsi7313DITO SUPERTRAMP/RODGER HODGSON ARE JUST CLASS👌❤️❤️❤️ STILL CAN'T GET ENOUGH AND I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THEM SINCE A VERY YOUNG AGE MY OLDER BROTHER WAS A DJ AND WAS AS ALWAYS PLAYING THEM AT HOME SO I WAS BOOKED FROM ABOUT 5-6YEARS OLD BUT JUST LOVE THEM ❤️👌🏴
i was a 19 yo Brazillian student, alone, no parents, no friends, nothing but some alcohol to take life passing throught the day, i was ready to give up and close my eyes for the last time, and then this song played randomly in my cellphone, a childhood song for me, i listened clearly for the first time, my mind was weak at the time, i cried over and over with his words, this song saved my life 4 years ago, Roger doesnt have idea but he saved my life with his words, i heard, and understood that this was the message to make me do the right thing. i wish i have the chance to thank him personally one day...
I met Roger in Villages in Florida on Feb. 26 2020...my brother surprised me with a VIP pass (extra $100.00 to have a photo taken Roger between my brother and I...I only said one word to him..."Babaji" he said there are a lot of books about him...later that year my brother found a book about the teachings of Babaji...yes "Hide in your Shell" is my favorite and often makes me cry...I really love you Roger and thank you...God Bless !!! ❤❤❤
Supertramp. A "hidden gem" of the 1970's. Certainly, on sheer talent, one of the top 10 bands of all time. Crime of the Century is a musical masterpiece.
Indeed. They were one of those 'wrecking crew' groups. John Helliwell claimed 'tongue and cheek' that during the ten year layoff of the group from 1987-1997 that he would go back to school to learn how to really play the saxophone.
I met Roger, at Sound Check in the CCH, Germany. He called me up to stage, and he signed my CRISIS, WHAT CRISIS songbook. He wrote "Give a little bit !!!!!!" Roger. I was telling everyone .What a total genius and soulful writer, He even called the box office, and I got a front seat at half price, that night, me being a Pianoman too :) Keep Healthy Roger, our world is blessed with you and Supertramp.

I was a teenager and was able to come home a couple blocks away from my school at lunch. My brother had this album and I would play it every time I got home. Hide in your shell pretty much the way I've lived life , but being a stagehand and my career and life I've got to assert myself. Thank you very much
Hide in your shell....1978 - meet a young girl, i was 14 years old, she too. Later, we listen together this song again and again and again.......now, December 2015 we listen again this track - she is my beautiful wife - and we love this song ...since so much time :-) Love you Roger :-)
This is my favorite most emotional song! Supertramp and Roger were amazing geniuses! They made your brain think and your emotions open in a way to provide loving healing! 🥰🙏
It gives you hope when you are hopeless and there is so much meaning and depth to the song how could you not at the very least reflect on it everytime I hear it it brings back so many memories of my youth and just life in general very few songs are able to do that
I was 20 in 1983, an addict , abuse survivor, alcoholic, suicidal , phycotic . this song fed my self hatred , ID cry buckets. but held on to the lyric the cure for pain was love Roger your amazing . 26 years now in recovery.
Shaun O'Brien My dad passed his alcoholic ways to 3 of 6 kids. It was crazy drinking Beer for 30 years. Being a alcoholic was nuts I would have 20 beers & I still wanted more. Going to football games & concerts didn't help. I once spent $100.00 on beer at a football game. I went & got help spent 6 months at Salvation Army, Then AA meetings, The AA meetings really helped, hearing other people stories helped. The people at AA meetings are very friendly. Congrads on 26 years Im only 5 years
Hi Shaun O'Brien, I've been in recovery for 13 years. I just used this song and its lyrics to help a friend getting started trudging the road of happy destiny. I realize it's probably about a love relationship, but like many great songs, the meaning can apply to many things. My experience with Recovery is that it's about learning to face our own fears and realities. Regarding the "cure for pain is love," I think he's saying he THOUGHT as a boy the cure for pain is love, but as a grownup, it's about learning to ask for help dealing with the demons in our closets. But of course I might be wrong, given you have twice the number of years I do!
That voice.....Still the same almost 4 decades later. Nobody of this generation of rock vocalists can still hit the same notes they could when they were in their 20s..Roger is totally in a class by himself. Unbelievable.
@@merceandreu9400 I saw them in concert, at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington State. The sun was setting over the Columbia River gorge. And the piano, of Crime Of The Century, was coming out of 2 speakers that were as big as houses!!! Then they played Take the long way home. Then they boarded a helicopter and flew off into the universe.
One of the best band's of all time I've been listening to Rodger Hodgson since I was 5years old and I'm 55 now love supertramp, Rodger is an absolute genius in his own right 👌🎶💯
Crime of the Century....This was a beautiful song! Knew life would be tough! And at a stage of Life looking down on everyone and happy! The words still revurbirate and mean so much to me: I as a boy, I believed the saying the cure for pain was love How would it be if you could see the world through my eyes
I was one of the only 4 photographers who Photographed them at the Breakfast in America concert at Madison Square Garden in 1979. It was one of my biggest events of my life after just moving to New York just four days before this. And I was the only female to do that, thanks to their amazing Manager, Charlie.I loved them from Crime of the Century in the early 70’s. They were phenomenal always.
I first saw Supertramp in 1976 at the age of 16. This song has stayed with me for over 40 years. In my opinion, this is one of the deepest, most profound songs ever written. If this song doesn't touch you, you need to listen to it again while reading the lyrics. Monumental.
Every song is an interpretation od once conquest and struggles, so NO ONE is wrong, having worked with SUPERTRAMP amongst so many bands, I can say that if and when we discussed their songs, their answers would ALWAYS be, "we wrote it with one purpose, and so many times, ours listeners will interpret it in many other way's, that's what makes song writing so fulfilling". So ROCK ON and Here is to years more of recovery. God Bless. Giving Thanks from Canada to the World. AMEN.
Why not!
I just discovered this song while listening to the album "Crime of The Century"... I'm literally speechless, I never felt a song as much as I feel this one, the melody, the text and the passion he plays and sings with are out of this world

I am nearly 78 a female with a husband dying of dementia, Supertramp saves my sanity in the evenings, I live alone, but this music takes me away from all hopelessness, no cure for him, but a calmness for me. thank you Roger
Who isn't a genius? Ask any mother of her children and she will brag proudly. Rick was the true anomaly of the group. It is so difficult to hear his piano playing because he was so incredibly and profoundly in step. I am disappointed that musicians from other groups haven't stepped forward to point this out. Rick is /was a great percussionist upon the piano. This is why I know Bob Siebenburg was great. He had to be. Rick's organ playing? He said that he was offered a job as a teenager to play the organ which he never had. So, he faked it.
@@jlbaker2000 After Roger left the group, the rest of the band members knew which of the two child prodigies possessed the true passion of the group. I am talking about the one who behaves like a fish out of water when interviewed. I'm talking about the one that could care less about the topic of genius. After leaving the group, Roger was never again able to assemble and finish any work to that of a hard edged Supertramp production.
Cette musique m’emporte dans un monde onirique, d’espoir où tout est possible, elle me rappelle mes 15 ans, mes amours de jeunesse, tellement de bons moments ! Aujourd’hui je l’écoute et elle me fait toujours du bien. Merci d’exister !
the best part is the line "don't let the tears linger on inside now"... pure goosebumps. Anyway, I like Roger's wailing vocals. He is a wise man with his lyrics!
Pure GENIUS... He totally CAPTURES his audience, like "catching a game Trophy Fish, after letting out considerable lines, then slowly but succinctly reeling US in" as we seem to Challenge his "Baiting Lyrical Trap." He TOTALLY HOOKS US! Absolutely!!!
The insight of the people who put this song together… is spiritual to my very soul.. thank you for uplifting my spirits over these years… 65 year strong..J.A.M…
"Hide In Your Shell" is my favorite Supertramp song. I absolutely love "The Logical Song," "From Now On," "Rudy," "Crime Of The Century," Breakfast In America," "Ain't Nobody But Me," "Bloody Well Right," Give A Little Bit," "Take The Long Way Home," "Goodbye Stranger," and "Dreamer." There, that's a dozen great Supertramp tunes. But, "Hide In Your Shell" is especially powerful, brilliantly hitting all the emotions past and present of this listener. Like Roger said, it strikes a chord. It's absolutely one of the best pop/rock songs of all time.
I was newly 16, had left home, working in the city, feeling quite alone to be honest.... Walking down the street past the record shop (yeah we had vinyl shops which were AWESOME!!) Crime of the Century album was playing, and it was this track - walked straight in and bought my first ever LP album... It's still one of my favourites, that was in 1975..... Supertramp are so overlooked when we talk about the greats of the 70s, they were in my opinion right up there with the best of the best. I saw Queen live that year too, what an era.
I think the opposite. I love his voice cos sings like me and probably you and with true emotion. Pavarotti could not have done a song like this justice.
I was gifted this album for Christmas- I was ten when I first heard it and have not heard it for years, listening to every song again with tears streaming down my face- so beautiful ❤️ thank you for this music
Took my daughter to the Royal Albert Hall on the 23rd to see Roger and I can only describe it as one of the best nights of my life. The guy is 69 and his voice sounds even better now than it did 30 years ago. His voice is ageless.
Great Music you gave me for 50 years ago....in Portugal in a disco...Still you are My favorit. J am 64 years today ..Still have your all records from the old times..today J can see you on RUclips at Television ❤Hope you,Roger are Feeling fine.❤Marie 🍃🍂🍃is Blowing in the wind whit Supertramp...Your song and the lyricks is soo Real today...Thankyou 🥰
Caught him twice can only hope to catch him again in my lifetime . His songs were the deepest they got me through good tomes and Bad . I travelled across Canada with him and as far down as the Carribean cassetts back then. I never travell without him . Introduced others to him . We have the same first name classic.
Yes, when an artist can get this far into your feelings, especially at a turning point in life, you can’t help but be vulnerable and willing to take emotional risks. Knowing he has this effect keeps Hodgson energized and able to recreate his songs' magical effect regardless of innumerable replays.
Just realize that his songs were Supertramp productions. Roger and Rick wrote the original songs to this album in 1972. They then spent two years in a house revising and rewriting them to form. Rick wrote 4½ of the songs to Roger's 3½. But the group together worked them to their finished high quality.

This song I had dedicated to my younger sister when we were teens because her shell was from all the abuse we endured growing up. I got out sooner. And I love her dearly.
I absoulutley love this Song, brings back tons of teen memories when I was fucked up, it made so much sense to me then and NOW, I am a Soulful person because of this Awesome band, I saw them in Milwaukee, WI in 1975! I work with people who need help, I am a school social worker now!
Literally brings tears to my eyes, I remember this song when I was a teen in 1970's all I wanted was someone to understand me, at 59 still no one gets me, I am a naturalist in a sea of materialism and an opioid epidemic in America, Please help anyone who needs it, don't give up the fight, I understand we all want to be understood in this crazy world of Greed........Love you Roger
I was only 19 when I saw Supertramp for the first time in Moncton New Brunswick along with about 9-10 thousand other people. It was an an amazing concert. 40 years later I just saw him again last night back in Moncton, this time at the Casino along with about 2800 other people. Once again it was amazing. His voice was exactly the same. My wife and I so much enjoyed it I came up and went to his web site to see where we may travel to see him again. Thank-you for such an enjoyable evening.
I was 19 when I first heard this song back in '74... The emotions well up inside when I hear it again, not that I am feeling down but just because of the years that have past that I will never get back... Such a heart felt and beautifully constructed song.
Ovations !!!!! C'était encore l'époque de la superbe bonne musique et non du tapage!!!! J'adore Supertramp et Roger... Open your minds = ouvrir vos esprits !!!!! ;) !
The last couple of minutes of this song are probably the most spiritual lyrics I've heard in popular music. And I've listened to popular music on an obsessive level for 60 years now.
Amazing how perfect and close he can sing live to the studio record, amazing no difference or even better, this guy is not good.... He is more than wonderful... Thanks Rodger
Why am I now just finding out how great the songs are by this group? Yes, I knew some of the songs that were played on the radio by them and liked them but those were the only ones I had heard.... but one day, I was looking for songs by this group for my hubby and he wanted me to listen to them before getting them. And listen I did. that was 2/6 and I am still listening, over and over. lol. I love mellow music, and instrumental stuff so it makes sense that I would love this group... Well, better late than never.
Never going to forget. I have 4 beautiful adults kids, they grew up with this music. When I visit whats playing?? Exactly it rubs off. Now all there friends listen as well. They say " I've heard this before" my son looks at them " oh yea your mom played the song all the time" well yes I did, and boy it catches on. It's wonderful that they hear the words the meaning, and how great they truly are Supertramp, and Roger.........
Many videos on YT. But the comment section below these Supertramp songs are unique. Never seen so much love. That's something you can be very proud of, Roger. Should keep you going too.
the beautiful thing about great songs is how with time they acquire different meaning to every person, outside the original meaning of the song they evolve into something very personal and different for every one of us
I adored Supertramp and the Crime of the Century album. This song breaks me every single time. ONe great thing about getting older is we heard this music.
Watching him performing in Recife Brasil only few feet away, the was one of the time of my life, unforgettable, even now 22 years latter i still go back to that day, seems like yesterday
My all time favourite song. This song helped me through a challenging alcoholic home life while I was growing up and the death of two of my teenage friends. I saw Roger perform this song live a couple of years ago. It's a beautiful song of human resiliency and connection. I always cry when I hear it. Thank you for this song Roger.
This song has stuck with me ever since I saw Supertramp feature Crime of the Century in Dundee Caird Hall many years ago. It's my all time favourite. It just punches emotion throughout!!
I was in Corpsman school in San Diego when Breakfast in America came out. They would constantly play Goodbye Stranger and The Logical Song over the loudspeakers. I thought they were good songs but I really didn't know who Supertramp was. A few years later I bought Crime of the Century. When I played Hide in Your Shell I had fallen in love with Supertramp. There was something about that song that I could not put my finger on at the time. Now almost 40 years later I'm still in love, albeit my heart has never mended over Roger Hodgson leaving and I think now I can put my finger on what is so special about that song. Good songs are supposed to make us feel something like a good painting or good book. Most songs make you feel one way. This one however conjures up multi feelings at the same time. You feel sad yet you feel happy. Not only that but you feel it not so much for yourself alone but for those that he is talking about in the song. Then you begin to realize that you're as much as part of the song. You're part of it because we have all been that person whose hidden in their shell. We be We've all been that person who felt the world is out to bleed us for a ride. We have all felt at sometime that we have been used and sometimes it is the ones we love the most are the ones who have hurt us the most and disappointed us the most. But in the end I think it says no matter how much you've been hurt don't stop loving. Love really is the cure for pain. It is a very human song, if that makes sense. It is ok to be human. It is ok to be imperfect. It is ok to have feelings. Above all else it is ok to love.
You're not alone man Hopefully humanity is going to be love sometime soon And not that cold fascim that we see growing everywhere in the world. Peace from France 𝛌
This has been one of my favourite songs since I was bought the Live in Paris album many moons ago, ive sang it out loud in the house in the car, when i was sad, it was very cathartic, my three kids have grown up knowing it, it builds to such a crescendo part way through, its a real goosebump maker, I was lucky enough that my wonderful boyfriend bought me tickets for Christmas to see Rodger perform in Brussels last Sunday, I wasnt sure it would be the same as The Live in Paris, but I couldnt be more wrong, I had goosebumps , tears and I sang my heart out, the performance in brussels was even better, a huge wave of love and respect for a really talented artist who has stood the test of time rippled through the audience, thank you so much and thank you to my wonderful boyfriend for making a dream come true and driving the 800 miles round trip, from England and back, it will go in my memory box as one of the most precious memories in my life. Flouncy x x

Unbelievable, I forgot how fucking beautiful this song is, almost weeping as I listen to this, remembering playing this over and over and over everyday for years. So many years ago, huge thanks to Roger!!!
Why is this man and Supertramp not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? It’s the crime of the century

Amen to that ❤
Agree, along with Pink Floyd, Stones, Genesis, and Dire Straits.
does anybody else feel this song has some kind of really unique energy to it?
Best Supertramp song ever, in my opinion
Totally agree. Thought that first time I heard it. Structure is all over the place but in a totally brilliant way

I hope Roger reads these comments so he can feel all the love 💕 ❤ 💕

Hello Eduardo your words are as deep, profound and sentimental as this song, power to you my brother!
Supertramp's lyrics are based on concepts out of the Church of England. It's almost like messages from the Queen!
Wow. That was really moving. You can tell the song came from deep within. The songs music and lyrics as well as the beautiful harmonies truly were made with great care to invoke an emotional reaction .

Spot on
None of my friends love this band as much as I do. I don't understand.
I get ya !
You are right!

For anyone loving music the seventies were a wonderful time to be young with bands like Supertramp but also Led Zeppelin, Procol Harum , Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Yes to name a few
Fourty years later this song made me feel the same, as it were made yesterday ❤
I remember I was a teenager and the emotion is (almost) the same… Dreams, many of them undone, still remain in my heart.
Absolutely, every time I hear it!
If everyone listen to the original song, you can feel Roger's voice entering your chest and throw out all your anger and shake your heart feelings with a lot of emotions...
I'm sixty now, and its been 45 years listening to super tramp and still feeling the same old emotions that will die with my last breath.
His greatest.
Que ótimo, Vinicius. A Música tem esse poder! Continue, seja vitorioso!!
GREAT Story! I'm glad you "came back". THIS IS Beautiful!
It is a honest and applies to all human kind . Supertramp are in a class of their own!
This is one favorite tunes 🤣💓 of supertramp. Hide in your shell. What a classic all time 🤣💓.
50 years later and my love for Rogers music has never changed ❤
Love this song, the seventies yes
God!! I thought I was the only person who loved this song.
Hi dear...
Absolutely marvelous sound....such a uniquely different style and sound. Brilliant, genius. ❤❤❤And Roger's voice makes it all work. What talent. ❤❤❤
What a tune the best I've ever heard just superb
also breakfast in America!!!!!
Smile
What a good feeling yeah 👍
Was Lucky Enough See Supertramp 2 Nites in a row At The Fabulous Forum In LA!!! Back in the 70s. Simply Stellar!!! Then At The LA Sports Arena all In The 70s!!!i Incredible!!!! ❤️ thank you Supertramp. I’m 64, this tune was my favourite as a teen.........the lyrics make perfect sense now!
Me too! And I’m 63!
I was a teenager and was able to come home a couple blocks away from my school at lunch. My brother had this album and I would play it every time I got home. Hide in your shell pretty much the way I've lived life , but being a stagehand and my career and life I've got to assert myself. Thank you very much
I'm 60 and this was the most exciting band in my youth. ❤
Hide in your shell....1978 - meet a young girl, i was 14 years old, she too. Later, we listen together this song again and again and again.......now, December 2015 we listen again this track - she is my beautiful wife - and we love this song ...since so much time :-) Love you Roger :-)
wowwww !!!
What an awesome post...Thanks and I hope you embraced the journey!
...i'm shure, thank you Lou :-) :-)
:-)
your wife's name is Roger?
After all these years I still cry every time I hear Lord is it mine...this man is a true legend....
The song Lord is it mine actually saved my life.. true story ❤🏴👌
This is my favorite most emotional song! Supertramp and Roger were amazing geniuses! They made your brain think and your emotions open in a way to provide loving healing! 🥰🙏
👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️✌️
Me too...the best song of Supertramp
Me toooooo ! Every time I play it...and that's a lot
...it gives me chills and tears
So true
Shaun O'Brien I'm in recovery and I love every single minute of it well done and good luck on your journey one day at a time. 👍👍👍
currently having issues
Love your post, really. I've seen this video many times. In a a state of denial and distress.
Tears come to my eyes several times I think of Supertramp in 1983... for "Hide in the shell" is so similar to "Crazy"...
That voice.....Still the same almost 4 decades later. Nobody of this generation of rock vocalists can still hit the same notes they could when they were in their 20s..Roger is totally in a class by himself. Unbelievable.
Roger is a true living legend. There may never be another like him. We are lucky to be alive when he is at his incredible peak.
essa música e linda demais
Definitely true, Paul Rodgers could be included in the category.
@@bradman1100 don't forget Freddy Mercury!
Without a doubt, the most underappreciated band of all time
One of the best band's of all time I've been listening to Rodger Hodgson since I was 5years old and I'm 55 now love supertramp, Rodger is an absolute genius in his own right 👌🎶💯
Crime of the Century....This was a beautiful song! Knew life would be tough! And at a stage of Life looking down on everyone and happy!
The words still revurbirate and mean so much to me:
I as a boy, I believed the saying the cure for pain was love
How would it be if you could see the world through my eyes
loneliness is a terrible thing, the lyrics and music felt like they were written for me, thank you
Love Supertramp...headed by a genius.....Mr Roger Hodgson 😊
My favoutite band if all times. This is real music played by real musicians.
I was one of the only 4 photographers who
Photographed them at the Breakfast in America concert at Madison Square Garden in 1979. It was one of my biggest events of my life after just moving to New York just four days before this. And I was the only female to do that, thanks to their amazing Manager, Charlie.I loved them from Crime of the Century in the early 70’s. They were phenomenal always.
Multi dimensional music .. written from the heart.
AMEN.
Why not!
Yeah same
I love it .
would be massive dream for me to see them i love them so much 2 this day x always will xx
I agree, this tune says so much...it's like semester of psychology distilled into 4 minutes.
So few songs can put a lump on my throat and even fewer bring a tear or two, this is the one that always give me a tearful healing.
Ever listen to Frank Zappa ?
It brings tears to my eyes too
There's only a few songs that make feel emotional and nostalgic like this one. Such a special song
I just discovered this song while listening to the album "Crime of The Century"... I'm literally speechless, I never felt a song as much as I feel this one, the melody, the text and the passion he plays and sings with are out of this world
Mé to and l just want to tell you l love you
I felt exactly the same way the first time that I heard it as a 16 year old almost 50 years ago. It’s nice to know that somethings never change.😊

One of my all favourite bands .roger has pure talent, composer, writer, vocalist he is indeed genius .I will always love listening to supertramp
@@pamelapickett4004 thanks Pamela.
Plus keyboards and guitar.

He totally CAPTURES his audience, like "catching a game Trophy Fish, after letting out considerable lines, then slowly but succinctly reeling US in" as we seem to Challenge his "Baiting Lyrical Trap."
He TOTALLY HOOKS US!

Nailed it!
Rick Davis are great too!
Johnny Ev recommend adding School to your already awesome list!
You forgot Is it Mine and Even in the Quietest moments. Those two are my favorite, especially when it's just him and the twelve string
What about Dont leave now !!!!!! O:)))))
Again,, OUTSTANDING!!! Thank You Roger Hodgson and Supertramp.
Supertramp one of the most underrated bands of all time, Fantastic song writing sung by an angel, Even today so fresh and relevant!!! 🤔🇬🇧👍
Correct.
60 millions album sold is not underrated i think
I was newly 16, had left home, working in the city, feeling quite alone to be honest.... Walking down the street past the record shop (yeah we had vinyl shops which were AWESOME!!) Crime of the Century album was playing, and it was this track - walked straight in and bought my first ever LP album... It's still one of my favourites, that was in 1975..... Supertramp are so overlooked when we talk about the greats of the 70s, they were in my opinion right up there with the best of the best. I saw Queen live that year too, what an era.
Honestly I just don't have it in me to truly understand how someone could create something so extraordinary.
How is it possible that Roger Hodgson has still the same good voice? And his voice has gotten better over the years!
I think the opposite. I love his voice cos sings like me and probably you and with true emotion. Pavarotti could not have done a song like this justice.
Perhaps because he's not sing at a forced screaming type volume like a hard rocker would.?
Because his voice like wine, it gets better with time.
A gift from God - or the Universe? Who knows. I just glad he does. All these songs are a gift to us all.
And still perfectly intact in August 2019, I can testify !

As someone who was a pretty big Supertramp fan in my early years, I think this may be their best song.
Glad I saw them back in the 70's. Great concert
If I can help you, Just let me know!!! What a truly amazing verse.
Con el tiempo, y ya ha pasado mucho, estoy disfrutando cada vez más de esta música, me al pongo a diario......

I LIKE THE SONG ROGER REALLY.. :-) THANK YOU FOR THE THOUGHT AND MUSIC.

One of My FAVORITE'S!! I Loved EVERY Song On The Crime of The Century Album. Listened to it Every morning before going to school. And After School.
What, not during school? 😅
I could watch this video every day
Some songs touch my heart, but this touches my soul, i can't describe how beautiful this song is.
I agree
Open your minds = ouvrir vos esprits !!!!! ;) !
Crime of The Century. Definitely in the top handful of rock albums, yes albums, of all time.
It's wonderful that they hear the words the meaning, and how great they truly are Supertramp, and Roger.........
hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here.
Many videos on YT. But the comment section below these Supertramp songs are unique. Never seen so much love. That's something you can be very proud of, Roger. Should keep you going too.
This is the most special song ever... It fits for me in many situations. Thanks Roger
Quel souvenir ...c'est autre chose que les chansons de maintenant...et quel talent
the beautiful thing about great songs is how with time they acquire different meaning to every person, outside the original meaning of the song they evolve into something very personal and different for every one of us
The lyric is packed with such emotional power and that closing line, ' we're such damn fools ' really hits home as one ages .
Si mélodieux, si magnifique. Merci Supertramp
I know Roger quite well, he's a very spiritual man, most kind hearted too! Loves all ppl
You're not alone man
Hopefully humanity is going to be love sometime soon
And not that cold fascim that we see growing everywhere in the world.
Flouncy x x
that is truly awesome!!!

Unbelievable, I forgot how fucking beautiful this song is, almost weeping as I listen to this, remembering playing this over and over and over everyday for years. So many years ago, huge thanks to Roger!!!
Wow. What a message for everyone
I brought myself here because I have great taste in music. This song has always been my favorite Supertramp song. Thanks Roger.
