A shout out to the great background singers, including Carolyn Leonhart, an Assistant Professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has performed with SD for about 14 years, and is also the sister of the Gammy winning trumpet player, Michael Leonhart.
They’ve got some serious talent in that Leonhart family
...who is playing trumpet in this video. Walt Weiskopf on Tenor Sax, Jon Herington on guitar- all Steely Dan alumni.
@@rlevitta Michael Leonhart
Whole lot of talent. Those guys have still got it. Sweet!
This whole concert is very good. Some great SD, Doobies and Boz Scaggs tunes.❤
I remember going to this concert. I was on my feet and singing every song. It was fantastic! 🎶🎶💖
Think about the talent on that stage!
Elite!!
Totally MIND BLOWING !!!!!!! 🔥
Boz Scaggs, Donald Fagan and Michael McDonald are three of my favorites musicians. The Dukes of September were formed in 2010 and it was sort of a reimergence of The New York Rock and Soul Revue which was formed in 1991. The 1991 concert included Phoebe Snow as well. The Dukes is on DVD and CD but I believe that The New York Rock and Soul Revue is only available on CD. Thanks for reacting to this group of talented musicians. Take care.
I would have loved to to've seen this concert.
It was fantastic!

Walt Weiskopf on tenor sax there. He does some amazing stuff on the latter Steely Dan album “Everything Must Go.” He is one of my favorite modern tenor players, along with Chris Potter, who also played some great stuff with SD live and on albums.
Again, if you get a chance, react to Snarky Puppy’s “Lingus” and “Something.” You will be blown away!
Man, I got to see the Doobie Brothers live for the first time several months back. Michael was at level 10 from start to finish and he wasn’t struggling with the high notes either. I’m guessing he was losing his voice during this. The man has no chill despite how smooth his songs are 😂. If you get a chance to see them live before they call it quits, I can’t recommend it enough.
I had seen the Doobies several times without Mike so when I saw him with them last year I was grinning ear to ear the entire time. In one month I saw Steely Dan, The Doobies, and McCartney. I'll never top that!
Nothing but talent on that stage down to the backup singers who are great
For some Michael McDonald you may not have heard, Listen to his duet with Patti LaBelle "On My Own", with Christopher Cross doing "Ride Like The Wind", and with Kenny Loggins doing "This Is It".
Superb and unforgettable tune with the great Michael and his buddies. I had the privilege of seeing Michael live at a small though fantastic venue on Long Island,NY about 15 or so years ago.
Another original song that made a great rap sample was "The Way it Is" by Bruce Hornsby and the Range 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Michael must have not stressed his voice/vocal chords out like many other popular singers have ..He can still the notes with out a super amount of wavering vibrato that seems to hit older vocalist
And he’s blessed with ultra thick vocal chords !
I love that I discovered you guys! Please react to "The Doobie Brothers - Takin' It To The Streets (1977)" Put it in the search just like that to bring up the right video. This is a live version & Michael McDonald shows out at the end. Trust me, you'll love it!
Yeah that’s a good one!
Not sure if it's 1977 but Live in Santa Barbara version is incomparable!
Michael McDonald put out a great Christmas album called Through The Many Winters. It was a Hallmark exclusive release. His voice is awesome on it.
Gotta check out one of the Boz Scaggs tracks from this!
I saw them in an earlier version of The Dukes of September. The band was called The New York Rock and Soul Review. They had the addition of another artist from back in the day named Phoebe Snow in that group.
That's a great band behind them for, many ended up with the Steely dan Touring band. Like how songs like this bring back the memories, thanks for sharing yours.
This is my first time watching this version of a remarkable song and singer.
That band and that sax player were smokin!
They sure were!!
Love the Dukes the whole concert is amazing thanks guys
Michael Mcdonald was a singer in The Dobbie Brothers for several years also.
check out "Yah-Mo be There *James Ingram & Michael McDonald * (LIVE)"...At least half the musicians backing Osborne and McDonald have #1 hits in their own right. Enjoy
We might have to react to that one. I LOVE that song
Great song, great presentation!! ❤
Pretzel Logic is Epic on this concert!
I worked at the Carowinds Paladium Amplitheater in the mid 80s on the stage crew. I took a night off to attend, rather than work, a Doobie Bros Farewell Tour Concert, over 38 years ago. They're still goin...
Thanks for sharing that your mom recognized!!!! And I am prolly older than she is...69 in January
She’s 74. We might try to get her on an episode with us one day.
That's some good music. Have you all tried listing to some Grand Funk Railroad? yea! I'm all over the place this morning. Inside looking out would be a good start.
Not yet. We will look into that for you.
Try them doing Bozzs song The Lowdown killer tune
Regulaaaaators! Mount up
Damnnn , Mr McDonald i think was 72 here , still doing it
Takes a monster of a baritone to push alto clean with no falsetto.
Guys, y'all gotta check out Todd Rundgren. He's not quite as famous as Steely Dan or Pink Floyd, but he's still a prog-rock god.

Check out Miss Sun, Boz at his best, and, the lady steals the show.👍✌💖
YES!
It was a clear black night, a clear white moon
Warren G was on the streets tryin' to consume
Some skirts for the eve so I can get some funk
Rollin' in my ride, chillin' all alone
Doobie Brothers "Taking it to the Streets"
Boz Scaggs "Look What You've Done to Me". Live 2004 is best 👍👌✌️
GREAT SONG!! I DID'NT KNOW JAY LENO DID IT?? LOL LOL
Rip Nate Dogg
So .. an early Doobie song you should react to is Another Park, Another Sunday … a great feel good song. But this is before Michael joined the group.
This is from Michael's first solo album and every song on that album is great. His voice sounds like it's a little fatigued on this performance, but still good. You guys should check out the live duet he did with Toni Braxton on the old Stylistics R&B song Stop, Look, Listen To Your Heart...it will blow you away (it's worth it just to see the gorgeous Toni Braxton! 😁). Here's a link to a video of the performance if you're interested (I found several different videos of the performance, but this one seemed to have the best audio and video, although it does have Portuguese subtitles).... ruclips.net/video/aksX3hpH0Xg/видео.html

A bunch of Hip-Hop artists have sampled Steely Dan songs
React to "This is it" and "Listen to the music" McDonald
Still gotta get me a Crenshaw shirt I like the maroon
I just ordered a mystery box from the marathon website. They sent me like 5 hoodies
Have today's artists lost soul like this? I loved the colab of Silk Sonic, but has soul been lost?
EEHH....Should have done the version of the artist's time it was written, the studio version or live version from the time it's written is always best. IMO
I hear you. This was strictly a dukes of September reaction. Not necessarily a Michael McDonald reaction. We do have Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs studio version reactions. We haven’t gotten to Michael McDonald yet.
@@AirplayBeats Understood..love yalls reaction though! 100% genuine,
@@SIXX2772 thanks for watching!!
Decent! Michael is older here. Original studio is much better.
These artists need to be honest with themselves and retire appropriately..we all will remember the amazing recordings... I can't blame his vocal cords for being 40 years older than the original recording. You see it a lot more with so many performers from decades ago and their aging, they all do these get out of debt tours and most ruin their own songs, it's sad. The Who is a perfect example, legends but Daltrey hasn't been able to sing like the original for 30 years but he keeps taking people's money.. it's bad, I'm not exaggerating.
I disagree.
