I love y’all! Poor Rob… I don’t know that I’d be brave enough to assist anymore. 🤣 I’m not afraid to gather with thread, but never thought about using diff colors. That’s next level “geniusing” 🤣 (Y’all are going to have me making up words all day now)
The look on your face when Rob identified the bobbin threads is the same look I gave my civilian mom when she said something about basting stitches the other day. So proud! I'm definitely going to be changing out my bobbin thread color for gathering from now on. And the pins for the thread tails? Freaking genius!!!
That. Is. EXCELLENT!!!! We thought it would be better to show the why & how instead of just showing the answer. (i will also be sure to let Rob know this is a further TKO 😬)
I had this tutorial on whilst gathering a neckline and (very cute little) puff sleeve (True Bias Roscoe Blouse) - did some of my best gathering work ever. hurrah!
Love this! Who knew you could get sexual innuendo into a gathering tutorial! 😂 question: how come it’s easier to pull the needle thread out when it’s harder to gather with the needle thread? I’d have thought the higher tension would make it harder 🤔
Oh yeah… we’re all aware of how it happens. Great tips though. I’ve just started doing two rows. When you do three rows where do you sew then? With 2 I sew in between the lines…
I just learned so much! I knew the different colored thread tip, but not the others. Thank you for posting this aaaanndd teaching us in a fun way. Rob is great!
Your both so funny. I never thought of using a different color thread for the bobbin, much easier and using three rows of gathering stitches, Genius!!! Thank you 😊.
Love y'all!! Great information about gathering. Did not know the trick about different color bobbin thread, going to do that next time I gather. Thanks
Nice demonstration! And rather needed for me, because all of the gathering I've done recently was old-fashioned hand-sewn lines of running stitches. :D (That's what happens when you get yourself into historical costuming!)
OMG, I love you guys! I can have a crappy day( and I did) and you always make me laugh! And I go to sleep with a smile! Thank you. And the tips were excellent! Thank you. Looking forward to a skirt tutorial! 💃 And Rob, it’s getting to be time to make more cold brew coffee! Sooooo good iced!
Om gosh guys are totally Hilarious.... I almost pee’d my pants with laughter....always look forward to seeing you two work together... thanks for sharing this awesome tips with us ;) Cheers from Australia
Pull the right dang thread....Thank you so much ! 🤩You guys always brighten my day, so much fun to watch while learning! 👌 So ..... I just might have to find something to practice on......*evil grin*..... like gathering the bottom of my other halfs trouser legs....you know...for practice purposes...and get another good laugh by not telling him and watching his face when he tries to put them on ! 😂😂
This was such a delightful and informational tutorial. You guys are soooo cute. I learn something new every time I watch your RUclips videos. I smiled and giggled throughout the segment, so fun to watch. Keep em’ coming! Peace, Chris A.
Thanks for the great tips! I can use them for my next project, instead of my default pin-gathering!! (My favorite quote from the video is “You told me to do the bad thing!!”) Love you two!!😘❤️
WHOA SHIT!!! my mother was a NY trained seamstress and I've been sewing since I was a little girl...she never said the bobbin threads were easier to pull!! (I bet she knew...just didn't share!). GREAT INFO!! I remember momma teaching me that figure 8....😭😭
I’m new to sewing so please excuse my ignorance, but why would you need to take gathering out? Is it just if a mistake is made, or is it a technique of some sort to gather and then remove the gather?
Yes, as small footprint said ! And no question is ignorant, there’s always something to learn in sewing no matter what your level. To ramble on a little more, the gathers will lay much prettier if you remove those stitches after sewing up your seam 💗
It really doesn't matter what you try to teach us Marcy, we just love to see you two doing this together. I love it! ❤
😁😁thank you so much! my favorite videos are the ones where we sew things together (or just act like fools)
I’ve been sewing for 40+ years and I learned something new today (pull on the needle thread to remove). Thank you!
I love y’all! Poor Rob… I don’t know that I’d be brave enough to assist anymore. 🤣 I’m not afraid to gather with thread, but never thought about using diff colors. That’s next level “geniusing” 🤣 (Y’all are going to have me making up words all day now)
Please do keep adding to our dictionary. It’s splendiferous. OK LISTEN autocorrect had that word! Is that a word?!
I so agree with this comment! 😄👍

I was truly impressed! Isn’t it great when we rub off on the civvies 😅
This was delightful! And I learned some new tricks! Thank you!
Great information for a newbie. I didn’t know that I should pull the bobbin thread and the figure 8 at the end!!!Thank you
We must be on the same wavelength. I just gave this lesson, same tips, to my students. You rock! I’m so sharing your video with a “see, I told ya”.
These really are great tips. Hope your students have a much fun watching it as we all did!
professor! you know I love hearing that!!
Hi , I just enjoy your RUclips channel and I would just like to say I seen you in a movie Manifest.. total AWESOMENESS 🤗🤗🤗🤗
You may have been the civilian, Rob, but I learned more by watching this demonstration by seeing both. So I learned more from you, this time, Rob.
That. Is. EXCELLENT!!!! We thought it would be better to show the why & how instead of just showing the answer. (i will also be sure to let Rob know this is a further TKO 😬)
Nice job Marcy and Rob. I love your personality, you are a joy to watch
I had this tutorial on whilst gathering a neckline and (very cute little) puff sleeve (True Bias Roscoe Blouse) - did some of my best gathering work ever. hurrah!
Oh that’s awesome to hear!!
Gathering on clothes is great using your method.
learned alot today and love the antics of both of you
I enjoy watching you guys you’re such a joy
Love this! Who knew you could get sexual innuendo into a gathering tutorial! 😂 question: how come it’s easier to pull the needle thread out when it’s harder to gather with the needle thread? I’d have thought the higher tension would make it harder 🤔
Enjoyed the video and the two thread colors was new to me. Thanks!

Marcy I LOVE your channel and sewing tips.
Having a Rob is a Very Wonderful Thing 💗💗
Thanks Lauren! So glad you dig it!
You are amazing I have never had it explained like this! Will give it a go next time. Thanks
Excellent!!
I've been accidentally using contrasting bobbin because I pop in my remnant bobbins with the quirky colors that were left over from other projects.
I absolutely love y’all’s videos. Thanks Marcy for your tips. I appreciate it. Have a good night!
thankya Traci! Hope you slept soundly and woke up sewing 🥰
Your Welcome!!
Always Hilarious!! Haven't done any gatherings yet, but now I have some useful info! Thanks!!
Excellent demonstration. Rob managed to pull out after all! xxxxx

I love y'all so much!!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, skills and humor. 😊❤️
Love these tips....I remember the figure 8 tip
Oh yeah… we’re all aware of how it happens. Great tips though. I’ve just started doing two rows. When you do three rows where do you sew then? With 2 I sew in between the lines…
You guys are so fun…thanks some sharing the gathering info! 💕
Good job Rob we love you 😍
I just learned so much! I knew the different colored thread tip, but not the others. Thank you for posting this aaaanndd teaching us in a fun way. Rob is great!

You guys are saving my life while I decide whether to go through with a medical procedure in 2 days!
Oh, we hope you’re doing well!
Thanks for the tips! 😊🥰👍
Your both so funny. I never thought of using a different color thread for the bobbin, much easier and using three rows of gathering stitches, Genius!!! Thank you 😊.
Excellent! You’re so welcome Polly!
Thanks so much for this video. I wish i could come to New York and visit the garment district somewhere in future. Greetings from Germany.
You guys crack me up. You’re so delightful!!!

🤗🤗thankya Rhonda!!!
Y'all give me sewing life!
YES! That’s what we like to hear!
Laughing so hard... But learning too. Love you two🧡🧡😂😂😂
that's the best way to learn 😁
Love y'all!! Great information about gathering. Did not know the trick about different color bobbin thread, going to do that next time I gather. Thanks
It’s my favorite tip. Works wonders in saving brain cells 😁
It's like you knew I was getting ready to gather a circle skirt.
I knew my sewist sense was going off for a reason 😉
Thank you for making my lunch break a very joyful one indeed!
Oooo we get lunch break status!! You’re most welcome 💗
Nice demonstration! And rather needed for me, because all of the gathering I've done recently was old-fashioned hand-sewn lines of running stitches. :D (That's what happens when you get yourself into historical costuming!)
Eeeeek that’s a lotta handsewing!!! One of these days I’m going to do a garment completely hand sewn….
I just love these videos, you two really make a great team! Made my day watching this :)
Very funny 😂. I loved that. Thank you both for a wonderful video. I learned a lot 🤩🦋🌈🦋🤩
OMG, I love you guys! I can have a crappy day( and I did) and you always make me laugh! And I go to sleep with a smile! Thank you. And the tips were excellent! Thank you. Looking forward to a skirt tutorial! 💃

Love it! Hilarious love the tips, and the side notes 🤣
This one was fun to do after all that solo sewing last week!
Thanks for doing all the things I do Rob. 😬
🤣🤣🤣It’s his pleasure
@@handmadeharriells 😆
Thank you civilian guest
Love your tips. And be nice to Rob. LOL
OMG!!! I love you too!!!! Too funny!!! Wonderful tip I will definitely use!
excellent! Rob’s pain was not for naught 😅💗
When I have to do gathers I feel my stomach churn. I hope you treated Rob to a drink after this video. LOL.
Pull the right dang thread....Thank you so much ! 🤩You guys always brighten my day, so much fun to watch while learning! 👌
So ..... I just might have to find something to practice on......*evil grin*..... like gathering the bottom of my other halfs trouser legs....you know...for practice purposes...and get another good laugh by not telling him and watching his face when he tries to put them on ! 😂😂
BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA WHY HAVEN’T I THOUGHT OF THAT
@@handmadeharriells hahahaha glad i am giving you ideas...sorry Rob 😂😂
This was such a delightful and informational tutorial. You guys are soooo cute. I learn something new every time I watch your RUclips videos. I smiled and giggled throughout the segment, so fun to watch. Keep em’ coming! Peace, Chris A.
thank you Chris, that’s so good to hear you’re laughing along with us! 😂
This was the cutest video!!
Rob is your swoop daddy. He is also a great assistant.
Rob loves Buster Keaton...but he must beg to differ! I see a Round 6 coming.......🤣 (also, I will now call him Swoop Daddy.)
Rob is of course correct about Charlie Chaplin as my husband pointed out to me
I was doubtful too! Love them both.
Thanks for the great tips! I can use them for my next project, instead of my default pin-gathering!! (My favorite quote from the video is “You told me to do the bad thing!!”) Love you two!!😘❤️
Hahahaha that quote sounds like an after school special 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
WHOA SHIT!!! my mother was a NY trained seamstress and I've been sewing since I was a little girl...she never said the bobbin threads were easier to pull!! (I bet she knew...just didn't share!). GREAT INFO!!
I remember momma teaching me that figure 8....😭😭
Hahahaah! I find that bobbin tip is one that escapes even the highest level sewists! I love that she taught you the figure 8 💗
Yaayyyy!!
You guys are like a ray of sunshine on a really shitty day. 🥰🥰🥰
Although that is excellent to hear, I hope your day had 90‰ less 💩!
this was pure joy to watch!
🤗that’s so great to hear….I was laughing at poor Rob the whole time I was editing!
Marcy, you are naughty! 😉 making Rob blush like that! Like a little beetroot! 😄
🤣🤣🤣I swear I don’t even try………usually 😉
Thank youj!
I just love you guys!
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I enjoy watching both of you lol.
Thanks for this, Marcy and Rob! Rob is a gem. My boyfriend only wants to see my finished garments!😅🤣😂
He is constantly inspecting my work! I had to turn the tables.
Love ya both!!! Great tips!
💗💗💗
It looks like you’re sewing room is in a treehouse! Thanks for the handy tips!
I kind of AM. I don’t know how I’ll tear myself away!
I’m new to sewing so please excuse my ignorance, but why would you need to take gathering out? Is it just if a mistake is made, or is it a technique of some sort to gather and then remove the gather?
If they show or pull.
Yes, as small footprint said ! And no question is ignorant, there’s always something to learn in sewing no matter what your level.
To ramble on a little more, the gathers will lay much prettier if you remove those stitches after sewing up your seam 💗
That makes perfect sense! Thanks a ton for the clarification! I have so much to learn, it’s exciting😁🪡
I need a Rob in my life, can he be cloned? 🤣😂
If he can, I need like a baker's dozen more 👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦲👨🏻🦲
Use good Polyester strong polyester thread when gathering.
Yes!!
So dramatic Rob!!
Hi. Hello. Howdy. Awesome. Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
You’re most welcome 💗💗💗
I don't think it even takes 60 seconds to change a bobbin, more like 10.
FOR REAL. But, I wanted to leave room for the reallllllly stubborn sewist 🤣
Clearly Rob is a hunter not a gatherer. But he is so damn cute!
Unless we’re talking vegetables! He’ll gather in a garden till the cows come home….though he did make a mean steak for dinner.
#SwoopDogg😀 but I think he is more of a hunter "gatherer"
swoop dogg. YESSSSS
So Robs pull out games won...lol
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
😅😂😆😁
🖤💙💛
😂😂😂
Y’all are both so very cute and love the tips! (Would’ve been so much better without that background music though😉)
eek, I’d love to know why-was it too loud? it’s hard to tell across devices what the levels are like…
Never knew of hilarious sexual chemistry till today. Y'all are cute I don't find couples cute
I swear I replied to you already, either that or you are the second person to say we have hilarious sexual chemistry….which I LOVE 🤣🤗
