Please note at around 9:20 , I kept saying "FlyKnit" but was explaining how FlyWire is a benefit. FlyWire is the vectran filaments that integrate with the laces. FlyKnit is what the upper is made of, for the Nike React Metcon.
The hyper lift is not supposed to rest on top of the midsole like you show it at 12:50. The ridges on the hyper lift align with the grooves on the bottom of the midsole. That keeps it much more secure in the shoe.
Thanks - and yes - I only found out on playback that I kept saying "FlyKnit" when I meant "FlyWire". I was too lazy to reshoot LOL. Glad to hear it was helpful.
My first pair of metcons and it was between these two, went with the 5x and I already hate the heel as it feels short and wants to slip, didn’t like the the no lace on the react because I like to tie my shoes tight...mix the heel from the react onto the 5x and I think you’ll have a great shoe.
When these guys are reviewing the shoe. I wish they would say that yes the Heal is very tight in the beginning and most likely hurt your feet and or fairly uncomfortable but it also loosens up to basically mold around your heel! I believe I've been working my shoe (metcon 5) for 7 to 10 days. The 1st workout was horrible my feet were in agony, I could feel them throbbing for an hour post workout; Now that I'm 7 to 10 days of working out; Jump rope sets, ankle Band resistant exercise, Body weight only squats and minor agility routine. The shoe feels a lot more comfortable... Because believe me I was calling Nike to get the return stickers sent to me. In the end; the rep, recommend I got 60 days, give it more than 2 weeks chance Now I'm basically falling in love with the shoes. My foot is rated at a wide in my work shoes hiking cues But these Nike metcons are regular fit with nothing special. plenty of Room for my feet except for my heel but that's going away once again molding to my body

Yes, you can do that as the shape and size is the same. To be honest there's NOT a ton of cushion in the react drop-in - it's not very thick. It's fine for moderate heavy weights. I wouldn't go try to set a 1RM back squat with them, but it's fine for most of what you would do in CrossFit or similar workouts.
Nike Metcon 5 is perfect, that's what it's for. If you have wide feet, look at the Reebok Nano 9 (or Nano X) which comes out tomorrow. The Nike React Metcon is OK, but because of a lack of laces I cannot recommend it.
I just bought the metcon react amp due to the design and color. Do you think they are good for specifically weightlifting? I am mainly using them for squats, deads, etc.
They should be fine for that. The heel is slightly softter than the regular Metcon 5 - but they are firm enough for most general purpose weightlifting.
If you are torn between these TWO shoes specifically and you are weight lifting - I personally would recommend the Reebok Nano 9. I feel the cushion is better for lifting weights specifically - in that it is more solid and stable. The React Metcon has more cushion in it, and generally for weights you want LESS not MORE. Does that make sense? (The Reebok Nano 9 is also an all around great shoe)
That's a good question - the ones I have now are black - as you can see - and I haven't had to clean them. I have another pair on order as well in the gray/white scheme - but they haven't shipped yet. What I can tell you about the material is that I don't THINK it will be hard to clean. It's not the sort of material that gets stained easily from dirt and grime.
Questions? Please comment and I'll do my best to answer! Also - do you agree / disagree? What's your experience with these shoes?
hi, i was wondering which shoes can be used for running as well? metcon, metcon react, or nano? thanks in advance

Yes, indeed. This video is quite old, and since then I've corrected my description in newer videos. Thanks for the input!
Very detailed and helpful video, I am swayed towards the Metcon 5.
Great review. Exactly what I needed to make my choice
Also the tech they use on the laces is actually called flywire

I get that same heel slipping feel in the Metcon 5s as well - but it is bearable. It's too much when I put the hyperlifts in though.

I did not experience this - honestly . I have many pairs of Metcon 5 (at least 4 different pairs). Some people's feet different than others.

Great job. React Metcons are basically useless lol. I love my Metcon 5s and still have a set of 3s
How do you feel about putting the react drop in midsole in the metcon 6? Think there would be stability issues under heavy weight?

Would the Metcon 5's be supportive enough for jogging? Nothing crazy. Just 45min around the block?
I wouldn't use these for running. Not much cushion. You'd be better off with regular running shoes.
Please recommend me a shoe which I could use for weightlifting, crossfit and also hiit at the same time.....

I still cant decide between these 2 then I found React Metcon AMP and Nano 9 😭😭 what to pick for weight lifting??
