I love how this guy gets straight to the point and doesn’t over elaborate stuff 😭👌
Don't mind me. I'm just chilling here imagining myself being cool fighting using arnis as a reference.
relatable
Good jub Idol ❤😍
Haha. Relate. 😂
Relatable (im learning arnis as defencive and offensive weapon incase of a class fight)
Well done Daniel! New subscriber. I’m an old fella that started training Tae Kwon Do back in 1986. In the mid ‘90s I transitioned to Kenpo and by 1997-98 I became obsessed with blending Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai and started training in Frank Cucci’s LYNXX Academy which had Filipino Martial Arts mixed in. Unfortunately I would skip Arnis/ Escrima days because I wasn’t interested in it as much as Jiu-Jitsu. By 2003 my martial arts training came to an end due to serious knee injury as well as work and starting a family…. 20+ years later I find myself wishing I had given more attention and time to the Filipino Martial Arts, and I’ve dug my sticks out and began slowly warming back up to it! I appreciate your channel. It’s time for this old grandfather to get back into shape, and this is exactly what I’ve needed lol. Thanks Daniel!

I remember taking Arnis class back in college! I enjoyed learning different patterns! Thanks for sharing this here!
2:17 My coach in jr high school said to never pull back your stick when you're about to strike 'cause your opponent will know and they might strike first :))
yup! that's why it's best to keep it in front of you for point system sport formats of arnis. :)
It depends if you base your style on strenght or on velocity
Saludos desde Venezuela. I know people from the Philippines understand Spanish and I have to say thank you very much, Daniel. I am a karate to student but I find Kali/Arni as a very good sister martial art. I'm going to follow your advices and use some Kali in my arsenal, in order to find some peace.
Greetings from Venezuela.
Nope, we don't understand spanish but we do have some words that is from the spanish language.

Nice move sir!
Can you share to us what are the modes and ranges of engagements in Arnis?
Just got my first pair of arnis sticks!! So excited to learn a new sport. :))
So excited for you! :D
Mag-aral din ako arnis...papaturo ako s inyo😊
I like the way you teach. You go into a lot of detail and you show the strikes slowly. Question, why do you always hit your arms? Is that to stop the striking arm?
In various forms and drills, this is a common way of maintaining a "defending arm". While you are striking, an arm stays close or across the center line of your body in case of retaliatory strikes, and hitting the arm is a good way to physical cue to maintain it. I've also heard that some consider it a way to cause your strikes to snap a bit more. Striking is more painful when you don't maintain your strike extended, ie faster snaps hit harder. So, when you hit your arm, again it's a physical cue, but mainly that you've extended and you should pull the strike back.
It may be different depending on the style you were taught, but reasoning is usually similar to maintaining control at faster speeds. (source: I used to train in several Japanese styles, and this was reasoning provided to me)
Very good
Salamat for the quick tutorial
Hi. Was wandering if you could share some good online shops or even physicals shops for the single sticks
I love your videos. You have so amazing skills. Could you please make a video on how you do the palm rolls?

Hey Daniel I've been looking for that kinda hoodie/shirt everywhere, the one with the hood and blue sleeve ends that you sometimes wear, can you tell me what it's called?
From Budo Brothers! There's links in the description of this video for all my gear. ☺️ But at the moment, their online store is closed due to the pandemic :(
Yea its cool. I would like to get one also.
Wow wow wow

Salamat Kuya🤩

Matatawag pabang pag aarnis kung dalawang kamay sa isang stick?
Hi Daniel, when it is possible for you, can you teach and show our basic attacks and how to disarm the attacker from their own stick.
It’s Ethan Time Hey Ethan! I hesitate to do something like that online for two reasons:
- disarming techniques can be really technical in terms of execution and context... and I might misarticulate myself if I teach something like that here
- I personally haven't been able to apply them in a sparring match, only by accident :)). So I lack a better understanding of them
I'd rather share it in person so that questions can be asked and I can corrected/challenged in a healthy way. :)
Not a problem and I understand :). I will still continue learning from you:))
Galing!
Ang galeng sir . Gusto korin matuto ng Arnis
Go for it! :)
can u execute the regular , modified and broken estocado thank you
What system of Arnis is that from? ☺️ Maraming styles kasi so iba-iba din yung mga techniques and terms. That's not something I've encountered yet so di ko yan magagawan ng demo. 😅

@@daniel_bernas yep.Im re learning FMA. currently doing RRK online. You're vids are awesome!
Nice idol
Hi awesome video May i ask were did u learn you Arnis from.
Thanks Nikola! I have different influences in my current practice. Longer answer is in this video: ruclips.net/video/BkNnapPuOnk/видео.html ☺️
How long should be the standard length of stick ?
It's USUALLY around 28in but it can depend on the style you practice. For example, the Serrada schools use much shorter sticks. And I've seen groups use really long ones too. I personally have a collection of different lengths and like to switch it up.
Hi Mr. Betnas, I'm 72 years old and planning to join the Arnis team somewhere here in TAGUIG City, but hesitant due to my age, but was invited for invaluation, can you provide me your brilliant and honest advise regarding my plans and intention to learn Arnis, I have a few knowledge about judo but it was during my teen years. Thank you Po.
,astig bro.
5 basic blocks, 5 basic parry and 5 basic disarms please 😅
i like the tip that you show, i'm in my 60's but i still try to keep myself in shape. i go solo sa mga park mga trail. what can you say about the retractable baton . just want to be ready with all the hate crime that is goin on. thanks DB.
kaya nyo po yan practice makes perfect no matter what age :D
hello, if you don't mind me asking. how many days should I practice this basics before going on to the next tutorial of yours po?
Move on when you want to, come back to it if you need to. If you're learning on your own, you'll have to figure out what works for you by trial and error. :)
Wow flashy. I save your video
Ser daniel saan po puedeng makabili ng magandang stick?
Kalahi FMA Gear :)
Is it possible to only use one arnis stick?
the most common tournament formats in Arnis use only one stick :)
