I've been told I can start expressing (38 weeks) and this demonstration has helped because all I was given was a leaflet and during my whole pregnancy nothing's come out my right boob, only my left and I tried for a very long time on my right with no success. When you said rotate and try a different spot, I did and I was able to collect more from my right in that one squeeze than my left and I screamed WOOHOOOOO and then I had a hormonal happy cry Thank you so much 🤣😩
I learned in my antenatal class! They really help, i don't know if they cost in other countries, but in western Australia they're free, you learn a lottt
I know this was two years ago, but I was wondering if it’s normal to just have very tiny droplets on the nipple? I’m on week 29 and I just started producing/just found out that colostrum was a thing and no one has told me. When I try to stimulate my nipples it kind of hurts even tho I’m barely applying any pressure and I’m worried that I’m causing tissue damage or something 😅😅
Great tutorial! I successfully hand expressed quite a lot immediately after watching this video, no pain. Thanks, I’m hoping breastfeeding is a breeze!
So, the way my nipple seems to work is I do the pressing thing at the areola but then I do have to gently squeeze it down to the tip of the nipple. My areola is really large. It doesn’t hurt at all. It just seems to be what works for my body so yeah… just wanted to mention it. The stuff that comes out is quite yellow so I’m pretty sure it’s not anything wrong. Doesn’t hurt, just works.
Don’t be disheartened. That’s normal. It really does take time and patience. Mine takes about half hour. 2cm off areola slow press in rhythm, almost like squeezing it slow and not too fast.
Sometimes it doesn't come in until baby is born. Taking a hot towels and draping it from your collar bone down for 5min before expressing is helpful. Just don't scorch yourself. Keep massaging when you are most relaxed, like before bed, or after a hot shower, to combat the worry you've got working against your oxytocin. You are doing great already ❤
@@jojobeam23 my baby boy is 2 weeks and I’m currently breastfeeding and pumping. My colostrum came through soon after I gave birth and I hand expressed colostrum into a syringe for the first few days as my baby was in the nicu. I have lots of freezer bags full of milk and expressed milk in the fridge too :)
Hormone estrogen and progesterone in the breast prevent the secretion of milk during pregnancy. After delivery, levels of progesterone and oestrogen fall rapidly, prolactin is no longer blocked, and milk secretion begins. Also, are you sure you’re doing it correctly? Best speak to midwife.
My boobs started leaking at 16 weeks and was quite a bit of leakage and was every day! Is this the same thing??? Over time though, the leakage has reduced quite a lot! I’m now 37 weeks and only have the slightest bit of leakage maybe every few days. Is this normal?

@@naesecret5113 yeah I'm in WA too and I wasn't shown in the classes unfortunately but that's OK. Resources everywhere so I found out either way haha

Actual instructions start at 3:00. Only disclaimers/etc before then!
Thank you
That was very helpful, I thought I'd struggle but I achieved extracting colostrum after watching this video. Thank you so much for sharing ! 😊
I was nervous to start hand expressing and managed to get some colostrum on my first go! Thank you 😊

Thank you so much this is the most helpful resource I have found so far

Im the same, my areolas are large so if i dont squeeze them a bit i feel im missing part of the milk duct when expressing.
I was successful in expressing some drops of colostrum! Thank you!
Thank u ur video has been too effective on my first try. Been in hospital for 3days with no success...watching n demonstrating I saw instant res6
i am getting small amounts of colostrum but it’s taken 45 mins to get 0.1 in the syringe

I’m 34 weeks but leaking a lot… should I not collect it?
How can I even know for sure what temperature my fridge and freezer are, im just gonna do it and hope for the best
Why can’t i get any colostrum :(
Thankyou so much.. I’m 33 weeks and haven’t had a drop of leakage and everyone has been telling me I should be by now and it was really worrying me

Do u need to use the syringe or can u store it another way?
Why can't we store it in the freezer staightaway ?
Is it okay to just do it without collecting it to make sure that when I give birth I’ll have enough being produced?
Thank you for saying MOM, not 'chest feeders' or other derogatory insulting terms
It was 3 years ago.
Imagine getting triggered by the absence of the trigger haha
I'm 39 weeks pregnant almost 40 weeks and my baby is due next week, I tried to get colostrum out but could not, does anyone know why?
With my first child, nothing came out until after birth. Don’t worry 💖
@@tin11x0 ohh ok
I'm the same

Thanks for the tip. I collected my colostrum and spilt it down the drain 😂

Stressful and didn't work
Can you use a pump to help collect it?
No. You should not use a pump while pregnant! It might lead to induced pre-mature labour!
@@HeinekenLady thank you 😊
No, pump is for after given birth
I’m 29 Weeks and I started leaking. I shouldn’t collect?
No. It can send you into labor before you’re full term. It’s not recommended until after 37 weeks
Helpful, but awful sound quality
Thanks
Can I use breast pump? Not get any.
Where to fine this pump in the gambia
