Bless Pinto Bean's owner, without her having the love and dedication for that little guy.. he wouldn't be in such great condition now. You did such a great job! I teared up a little when I saw how nice and pain-free his foot looked now.

All that hard graft and dedication shows in Pinto’s increased quality of life. Not only did you guys save Pinto, you advanced your craft to another level, and showed that you don’t always have to put an animal down, due to a chronic health issue. It’s still a long road to full recovery, but hope and hard work has seen you through so far.

I think a lot of the issue is that people that own horses view them as tools.
Racing horse that "have to" be euthanized probably don't need to be; however, those horse probably won't win ever again. So, euthanizing them because of injury can recoup some of the owners money from insurance.
I wonder if that's some of the reason for Santa Ana's Race Track slue of euthanized horses... Horse owners knew there was a problem with the track... Sent their horses... And collected the insurance.
If an living animal is thought of only as a tool or money generator, once that living creature out lives it's usefulness... that animal isn't long for this world.
And humans are being looked at like that as well... As they are animals too...
Yes, horses can be tools, but they aren't *_only_* tools. They should be respected.
Humans are tools, but we aren't *_only_* tools. We should be respected.

LOOK AT HOW HAPPY HE IS!!! He is just living his BEST life right now. Also it's impressive that right after the shoeing process that he turned his head trying to get pets. Most of the horses I've seen cant get away fast enough from the farrier right after an appointment. It shows the amount of care you put in to the whole process

I found this channel at the end of February due to a random conversation I was having with a friend - we were talking about dogs and I happened to mention that dogs like to chew on hoof trimmings. He asked how one trims a horse hoof in the first place, so I searched for a video showing the process and found one of your videos with just a basic trim, which I shared with him. However, while looking at that I noticed your other videos, including not just basic hoof maintenance but therapeutic horseshoeing which sparked my interest - I was fortunate enough that the horses I used to work with all had sound hooves so I knew nothing about that and was curious.
Since then I've slowly watched my way through all of the videos on your entire channel - this is my first time watching one as it was posted and I'm delighted to see the shape that Pinto Bean's hoof is in now! I've also enjoyed seeing and learning more about how one makes a horseshoe, especially because I'm slowly turning into a history buff and it's fascinating to me how little the tools and techniques have changed over the ages. It's really cool to see how such an ancient art gets blended with something as modern as current veterinary medicine to produce results like Pinto Bean's recovery.

Love what you had to say about learning the farrier's art. Because it is an art, and it's horses like sweet Pinto Bean that need that custom craftsmanship. It's like, yeah, you can go to the store and buy shoes off the shelf and for most, that's probably fine, but what about those who have issues or special physiological needs? There's gotta be somebody out there who can create the custom shoes! I can see how much you care about the animals you work on and I think you'll make a great vet. Much love from Portland, OR!
