I don't remember ever seeing this movie before . Unless I saw it when I was younger and have forgotten it .. Geez , the Mary Celeste has been a legend ever since she was found adrift in 1872 .. Thank you for making my evening exciting .. God Bless
What is utterly GUTTING is the Universal Studios fire of 2008 that destroyed THOUSANDS of irreplaceable, one-of-a-kind silent movies and black-and-white movies over 100 years old. Just heartbreaking. At the time, I worked at a television audio post-production company in Burbank and we could see the plume of smoke from our office. I had no idea what a catastrophe it was. Television shows were saved as there were duplicates, but many Musical recordings were lost
WHY weren't each of those reels COPIED.. and stored elsewhere..? My Last Will/Testament is stored several places. So is my investment info and diploma copies. Sad lack of priorities
This is one of Bela's I have never seen before... Totally enjoyable to see for the first time... thank you for posting this movie... Hollywood were stupid not to use him more... idiots...
True story. When they found the Mary Celeste she was still floating, no souls aboard, incl. Capt.,his wife and child. So many myths and stories surrounded this mystery. But the truth was, the cargo was alcohol and it began to leak. The fumes were deadly so the Capt. ordered everyone into the lifeboat and tied a rope to the ship. When aired out, they all wld return, but the waves tipped the lifeboat over and all drowned most likely. Sad effort. 🙏
Bela Lugosi was just excellent - even in this low budget number, he knows how to rake up the tension. Love all his films, but never seen this one before. Thanks. NB - the real Mary Celeste 'mystery' takes a simpler dimension when you realise that both Captains (of the 'Celeste ans the ship that picked her up) knew each other very well, and had been deep in conversation before they each sailed. Can never be sure what happened, but my money's on an insurance job.
I think Mr Legosi was so great to not let stereotype get to him he kept working His whole life ..was so good in ALL His movies of coarse DRACULA " ....ive listened to his Son BL,Jr...he seems like a fine person too.....
There is another story of the Mary Celeste. I read this in about 1956, that the ship reported a bright flying object following the ship. ( on a different sail)
Shame ya can’t see the movie the Tingler with Vincent Price in a driven when that voice came thru the speaker at the end people were screaming n jumping of their cars it was a riot Not I was one of them 😱
Oh what a beautiful romantic love story, where everyone has gone to see St Peter at the pearly gates themselves……. Remember lads if you come across a shipmate who has one arm, ask him this. Who holds the bash mag while you are giving it the old vinegar stroke? That’s what I would like to know. Whatever you do, don’t offer to turn the pages for him. It could mean trouble for you tooo………. .. …. .. … . . . . . . . . ..
L erreur de la vie de Bela Lugosi est d avoir refusé le rôle de la créature. Quand il sera en difficulté dans il l interprètera et le temps du tournage il se rappellera ça très grave erreur et même tout le reste de carrière.
That's why I had a smirk at Rachel Ziegler calling the 30s Snow White film out for being outdated. She's sporting the same 30s hair style for the remake as the OG SW who only had it because it was a 30s film. Today's actors are not chosen for brains.
The great Bela Lugosi! Thank you for uploading this rare film featuring Bela Lugosi. He shall not be forgotten.

This is one of the greatest Bela Lugosi movies ever⚓💀🎥👏
Best looking print of this movie , really clear . THANKS !
Bela is wonderful in this!

Yes and great radio dramas. If it wasnt a fire, it was neglect and rot. Omg so sad, for us for sure!

Could it have been a case of arson-???🤔
@@asullivan4047 We'll probably never know. What a monumental loss
I really enjoyed this spooky mystery. Thank you for an hour well spent !!!

He was a terrible alcoholic and was a problem for directors and actors.

Thanks for the info. I have seen this story "floting" around the internet and always wondered what the heck happened.
Well that is one theory for sure.
I watched a documentary about the Mary Celeste years ago, and that was what they came to conclude was the most likely scenario
...fascinating take on this history...Bela was totally believeable, too!

I enjoy this every time I re-watch it- Bela's finest melodramatic acting!
The very first Hammer Pictures Horror Movie
Should have been the last too🤮
Excellent movie 👍🏴
Excellent.
I love this. Thank you so much for posting. Subscribed!

He spent a lot. Glad he did continue to work. Though.
Did Frank Sinatra front $$$ for penniless Legosi's funeral/burial/gravestone?

It's hard to believe she would go for Ben and not Jim. Neither of them can quite spit out his lines.
This would be a good re-make for 2024 / no ghosts !!!
The golden years of Hollywood 🍿🍿+👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
It was a Hammer production; in the U.K.; not Hollywood.
Good old movie
Merci pour le film 😊
Oh, a seafaring caper eh ?
Why, I think I'll just pop up a batch of DuckyPops and have myself a real fine time.
I'm with you brother
Ducky pops?
> @beandipcartography I like the unique way you express yourself
Bella is the drawing card.

All, save one, shall perish,?
What happened to the 1 hour 20 minute running time for this???
Oh sad!!

So the butler did it?
1872.. ..AND SHE HAS A 1930S HAIR STYLE.....?????? WHAT WOULD DEMILLE THINK ..????? JUST MY OPINION
Do you go to magic shows and tell everyone it's not real

I question anyone that would marry a broad that strung along 2 men at once..
Hell no.
The Rebels nearly scalped her during the
UNcivil War.
Needed a few years to grow back
She sees fast what sort of man she married.
Has captain killed anyone?
Too many loud ads to enjoy for me..
That sucked!
This movie should have gone down with the ship
I spotted that.
Yawn 🥱
Merci pour le film 😊
