    My daughter had lice when she was little. It came back twice because I couldn't get rid of the nits. I didn't know what to do. Then my friend took my daughter to a salon specializing in African hair. At the time flat irons had just come out, so the hairdresser ran the straightener thru my daughters hair burning off all the nits. Never had a problem after that. Just a little tip for Mothers out there who are dealing with this problem. Good luck everyone!

      @TheLiceLady  5 лет назад +55

      Thanks so much! We see people in our clinic using straighteners all the time. After looking at the eggs under the microscope the majority are still viable. We choose other products and our heated air because we know they work and it does not damage the hair in the process.

      Michelle Pierni there’s a lice cleaning kit at my local cvs and my mom used it on my hair ( I have b4 type hair) and it was gone in one night. My mom ran my head (in the shower) in hot water (not boiling but hot) and the lice came out pretty fast but she still used the lice cleaning kit.

    i recommend that when you wash your hair, you use vinegar because a lot of bugs and tiny insects(/lice and lice eggs) can't take such strong and sour/ strong flavored and smelling things. I know because my wife uses it for my daughter when she has some nits in her hair.

      YESS! My mom starts to comb from my scalps and smoothly combs the tips of my hair. A lot of nits came out, and if you do this 7-10 minutes daily you won't have any more nits and lice. Well it usually doesn't ALWAYS work but try it out! If your 8+ and older, you can comb by yourself. I usually comb in the bathroom sink. You stand behind the sink but your body turns the other way, not facing the sink. You quickly tilt your head and let your mom stand beside you and comb. You will see some lice and nits coming out. When ur done make sure your mom kills the lice before washing them off. Thank you!

    Use addams cat shampoo a few times a week to prevent lice from coming back. Let the shampoo sit in your hair for a few minutes before watching. Also, get a spray bottle and put 98% alcohol from the store and spray it all of your hair and use the lice comb to comb out the lice. Repeat every few days :)

    Hey, I have lice as long as I can remember. My elder sister got it as a kid, and it just passed on. My mum cleans are hair everyday with the plastic lice comb the one with teeth both ends. But now I just want to get rid of it forever as it gives me low self-esteem and makes me so conscious. Like I haven't even gone to a salon because of it, did use some live removal shampoos but not successful. From where I come from there are no specific salons for lice treatment and the few center's are pretty expensive. Is there any home remedies I can try? I actually don't want to chop my hair. Because I already have alopecia and there are holes here and there which I cover with my long hair by tying a bun. I'm scared if I shave my hair, it won't grow again. Since I lost almost half of it and more to hair fall

Mine never got very big cause i was always combing, but I picked that comb up one day after not using it for weeks and there was a huge live louse on the comb. They also say they cannot fly or jump but I have seen one on my hand after picking it up and it just took off like it jumped, but I think they move because of static electricity.

I've tried hair dryer ,nit picking (which is sooo tedious ) treatments , olive oil , lavender /tea tree oil...I could go on. Ur not alone ,let's hope we get them gone soon

    Best thing is a cheap conditioner. Saturate wet hair with conditioner....comb out ...repeat every 5 days until gone because lice have a six day gestation period . Dog flee shampoo also works . Don't waste money on clinics or lotion.

    Removing nits by hand is so satisfying😅😅 i even remember my cousin put lice on her hair so that when they lay nits she can also remove them by hand (she missed the feeling since she hasnt got any lice that time)😂😂 although they get so itchy and annoying when they invade your hair🤔🙄🙄

      Hey there. Where do you live? Is there a lice clinic nearby? If not, I would highly recommend getting some oil and a lice comb and watching our video on combing. Then comb every day for 2 weeks. Sorry that you are going through this. I know it's frustrating, but you can take care of it.

      I will guide you a very easy way. Use any mouthwash to dampen your hair, wear a shower cap. This will kill all the lice in one go as lice is sensitive to mint. ( add peppermint essential oil too if you have that )
      Keep for 1 hour and rinse off with water. You will see dead lice on the shower cap itself.
      Now comes the way to remove lice eggs
      Once you’re done wish washing hair with first step, use white vinegar in your hair. This will weaken the glue of lice eggs and run comb through your hair. You will see lice eggs coming out.
      This will calm your scalp and strengthen your hair as well ( vinegar will make your hair super duper shiny)
      Try this
