This is my favorite live performance. Everything about it is amazing: Kurt’s voice, krist’s bass tone, Dave’s drumming. Even the video quality is oddly perfect for this performance.
Well... screaming lol. A lot of singers can use distorted vocals to hit the high notes. Even the drummer uses this technique, and he uses a lot. Kurt didnt do nothing much special there.

@@jimijames27 well, dave grohl, corey taylor, chester bennington, matt bellamy, all the vocalists from the great grunge bands like pearl jam and soundgarden. That's the few ones i can remember. If you listen to more bands, you will see that kurt was just kinda "special" at composing.

As for Matt Bellamy of Muse he rarley uses vocal fry or distortion. He utilizes distortion generated by overdrives in his mixes like in the song Drones or Hysteria. Chester definitely had a unique grit but it was more of that Nu Metal style I still say Kurt had something he was doing that was unique. I only say this because I grew up in the 80's/90's when through a Nirvana phase while Kurt was alive, abandoned them in the 2000's and then have recently seen the unique qualities in the last couple of months again. I think they were trying to sound bad more than good most of the time but I can still appreciate Kurts ability to boil gravel as Dave Grohl put it.

Let's break a lance for Pat Smear here, he filled out the sound so well, doing the high riffs during "Very Ape." and it's also clear that he brought the Fun back with the band. Or as Dave put it "He made us feel like kids again."

The last great Nirvana show. This is the last time they actually played together where Kurt was actually trying. The first leg of the tour was more glamorous Western European cities and I think Kurt’s heart went out of it when they were about to go into the Eastern European Gulag right after the wall fell. He would not be able to find drugs anywhere in that place and time, or at least it would be extremely dangerous. Most of the last tour was the same Setlist over and over again. I think if they would’ve played different songs every night, or at least throwing a couple of new songs in at every show, it might’ve made things a lot more fun for Kurt. It was a mistake just trying to plow through the tour like that with no drugs.
Lounge act is by far one of nirvanas best songs when he comes in screaming the whole second part that shit gives me fucking goosebumps.unbelievable song.definitely best song on nevermind with drain you coming in close second

Damn, very ape looks like a ridiculous song to play rythmn guitar & sing at the same time! Specifically the verse. Kurt doesn't get enough credit for his guitar playing. Yea, it's not technical or super complicated, but his feedback sense/manipulation, ability to play & sing, even w/rythmn parts that don't always follow the vocal melody (like this song or negative creep for ex.) If you try it, you'll find it's not that easy. You have to work at it. Also, his mistakes still had a way of fitting in to the song- both vocal or on guitar. Kurt was def a full musical talent!
EXACTLY. Combination of playing and singing at the same time and the effectiveness of his melodies. As a guitarist and singer myself, I had to learn how to play amd sing Drain you at the same time because of how quick and the amount of frets you have to slide. Playing and singing these songs are not just baseline talent that everyone has it took me months to learn to play and sing Drain you.

A lot of people in the comments I read don't think that the last tour sounded so good, that Kurt wasn't at his best....but I disagree....kickass setlists, powerful passionate performances, and like Nirvana does best...nothing is supposed to be perfect. I love the live shit from 94, they really had a lot of life left in the box, weather or not Kurt took a break in 94 or not, they had more to offer at some point for sure. You can see they were kicking serious ass here. Great setlists in Europe. I never wished I was in the 60s to see those bands, but I do wish I could have seen Nirvana just once.
Probably cause that's what he said in the alleged suicide note, that in the later shows he was on autopilot, but I just think he was hypercritical. He actually just had his craft locked down. It's sad but at least we have the recordings.
Krist is such a good bass player I love his fills. For some reason I have always found it hard to hear the bass in nirvana songs, but when I find a version of a song that has the bass loud, I'm 9/10 times pleasantly surprised by his inventive basslines and fills and how good they compliment the drums and guitar. Very good bassist, right from the start, a natural.
I always think it's funny when people say he just wore whatever and didn't care. He knew exactly what he was doing and color coordinated. Even with what guitar he was playing. Maybe not always but he clearly did

These days, I only want to listen to Nirvana live. The only other band I feel like this about is Led Zeppelin and maybe The Who. But nothing beats Nirvana, no wonder they were so big in England, I absolutely love this band.

A big amounth of energy is seen with them, this smell like immortality. They recorded everything, its nice and professionnal. This Tour is really energical. A nice speed like a military drill, all Is top notch in for the tightness, and Dear Mister Grohl, He hits fastly, tightly and is stronger than ever.
3:20 Kurt nailed it even better than in the studio version… what a badass singer, as I was convinced as a teen he couldn’t sing because he didn’t have the range of Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury 😂
This sounds so close, its great. Really, everything a person could to pull this off, save for shrinking the front man by 6 or so inches and making him left handed, they did it here. The video ended and deadended into a live video of the real nirvana, and its unreal how similar the two sounds were. Great fucking job! Really, superb tribute. These guys mean it!
I think this is one of the only footages of Kurt playing this guitar ( that he designed), I remember when they quit making them they were on closeout for 3 or 4 hundred dollars in AMS or Musicians Friend. Now they've reissued them for 12 or 13 hundred. It would be nice if the Nirvana corporation would donate them to schools for there music programs. I remember in a interview when Nirvana were first getting big he said he wanted to be the "punk rock granddaddy" and give kids free guitars.

For sure. Probably why it's a lot more rare than the fiesta red versions. The sonic blue retail ones are pretty different from Kurt's Jagstang, though. They're a bit brighter, almost sky blue.

For sure. Probably why it's a lot more rare than the fiesta red versions. The sonic blue retail ones are pretty different from Kurt's Jagstang, though. They're a bit brighter, almost sky blue.
