I can't believe that with all this technology no one's has dare to make a cd of Kurt Cobain in Nirvana with all the recording sessions? Beatles did it and so many ppl, the world deserve to hear his voice and forever be remembered. But then again I'm just a fan.

About 12 hours before this, Kurt & Courtney did heroin together for the first time. He's had next to no sleep. Later the same day, Nirvana play The Paradiso. Kurt and Courtney's paths cross two nights earlier (23rd Nov) Nirvana and Hole sharing the bill in Ghent... Nirvana left for Amsterdam and Hole for Nijmegen. After Hole's gig on the 24th, Courtney paid Nathalie Delisse 150 guilders to drive her 1hr 30m to Amsterdam in Delisse's Citroen 2CV to be with Kurt. They got high etc.... and Courtney left that morning on a train for France to continue Hole's European tour. This is also when Frances was conceived, being born 9 months later.

The interesting thing about this VPRO session is the total iconic photo of Kurt with the acoustic guitar looking like an angel while being obviously (from knowing the story and hearing peoples takes who were there) dope sick… fortunately for the show later that night it’s pretty easy to scor3 in Amsterdam.
It's funny. You could never really pinpoint when someone is high if they're not obvious about being high, nodding out, drooling, slurring words, etcetera. If they're using a constant maintenance amount, it's almost impossible to tell unless you really know (pupils, redness). However, when the moment they're clean and don't have anything in their system, you can instantly tell. It's always an "OH there you are!!" feeling as you realize you haven't seen them totally clean in ages. Sad stuff. Cobain is very clearly sober in these shots.
@@VanishedPNW very true. You get used to playing it off. I recently listened to mark lanegans autobiography “Sing Backwards and Weep”… that dude was crazy and all those guys really pushed things. I'm glad there aren't comments in this thread that the song supposedly is about a philandering girl. (because it is not.) Anyway, with songs I focus on rythm, melodies and expressiveness more than on song lyircs.
People have often questioned what was so great about Kurt. He was brimming with soul. All the great singers back then .. Kurt, Chris Cornell, Layne, Weiland, Vedder, Scott Lucas.. they all had that same badass soul.
The *candid photography* in this studio session really catches some interesting, vulnerable shots. For instance, 5:22 shows a shapeshifted Kurt, an angle of him almost unrecognizable. He looks like a different person. Then, at 11:22 and even closer, 11:37 - Dave Grohl is wAtChing Kurt, with a clear expression of a sad clown. At 15:00 - Kurt looks a lot like his daughter, Frances Bean. _Would love to see and hear all of this entire session._
They rented almost everything they played that day. Cobain joked in his bio that he didn't like the pictures because he was using such high tech equipment with the acoustic. He had a alot of embarrassment about being seen as one of those "old unplugged washed up musicians" like Eric Clapton even though he was interested and experienced with the acoustic for jamming. He said in the same bio he said wouldn't do "unplugged" on MTV cause it was pitiful looking for real. He must have changed his mind completely cause he did it. Rented his guitar that night too.
