Track from DVD "Live! Tonight! Sold Out!!" (1993.01.23 - Hollywood Rock, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Incorrectly labeled 1993.01.16 - São Paulo, Brazil on inlay)
I listen to "Dive" on a daily basis. Also, Kurt was never hotter: rocking a minidress over cut-offs, Chucks...all while donning a tiara?! My 13 year-old-self knew the man was an artist and a legend.
Same here. Was just wondering what the hell happened to all the tapes in that dusty VHS drawer underneath the ol' TV. Memories run deep! This version of Dive was playing once when my mom walked downstairs, and she couldn't have been nicer "oh, well that's a certainly catchy song!"
It's amazing how such a powerful voice came out of such a skinny frail body. Kurt was such ahead of his time with his lyrics and melodies. That's why everyone went ape shit over Nirvana because there was literally nothing else like it at the time!
I dont think his voice is powerful at all. I like it. Its cool for punk and alternative. But in no way whatsoever is he a good singer with a powerful voice.
As much as kurt said he never wanted fame, he was very controdictary, he loved fame, and from a young age he set out to be world famous, he wanted to be the next Jim morrison, and the next jimi hendrix, he accomplished that goal and later would find out that fame can be a double edge sword.
setforglobaldoom he wanted fame but he met heroine and thats all addiction is a way to grave i know something about it,Kurt did his best but he couldnt stand life
He did want fame. When Teen Spirit was put in the "buzz bin" at MTV to be played regularly, Kurt personally called his contact at MTV and asked if it could be played even more often... When they got the chance to do VMA, SNL, and headlining festivals around the world, he took it. He did the cover of Rolling Stone, endless magazine and TV interviews, and endless touring to promote the albums. And even after all that, and after their fame peaked, he still chose to do big TV appearances like MTV Unplugged, Live & Loud, etc. If he didn't want fame he wouldn't have done at least half of that stuff.
Agree! I spent I don't know how long trying to decipher the lyrics to 'Old Age' (the "official" lyrics are NO help at all!) before giving up. Now when I sing it, I just mumble incoherent phrases. "One more day to (geema serma?) One more how to (kayma serma?) (Effis ounama?) think.... it's over!"
@@squidward9747 lol. I didn't explain, they just looked at each other and said "drugs" ... I didn't even know what that meant at the time, but I still remember that lol
it's hard to overstate how weird it was to see THE coolest band, the band that "rocked" hardest, appearing on-stage wearing bras/dresses and in interviews subverting trad gender back in the early 90s. I am a cis male and watching the way that kurt embraced and championed lgbtq people and causes in the early/mid 90s had a powerful effect on me, and (I think) is a major reason I've stood as an ally of those causes throughout my life.
Kurt liked to wear dresses because it felt “comfortable , sexy, and free.” He’s also considered the antithesis of a macho man and did not want homophobes as fans
He just felt closer to the feminine side then the male side of the human spectrum. I feel like so many people who like Nirvana (considering it such a huge band) are homophobic or just prejudiced in general. That’s literally everything Nirvana stood against tho and anyone who’s like that is not a fan of Nirvana.
*This will always be* my *FAVORITE* Nirvana song *and* the best *ever* live version of it imo... *even the guitar tone itself* on/in it sounds like it's *completely drunk off of it's ass* and I absolutely cherish it, lmfaooooo~ 🤘 😈 🎸

Kurt looks like my dead Granny. Dave looks like my lesbian sister who plays basketball, and Krist looks like my brother in college who's a frat guy but is to dumb to graduate. Edit : Kidding, I'm on lots of drugs. I have no family. 😔

I love how Dave Grohl never misses a beat. Most underrated Nirvana song ever!

Ricardo Rodriguez I rather not..
just like the bass
Was always one of my favorite drum lines from Dave G in Nirvana. Used to play it on my desk in 6th grade…
Even in his highest concert he still delivered this. What a talent Kurt was
Krist’s baseline & tone simply doesn’t get enough credit. His groove with Grohl is unmatched

Same lol
When he does the Marilyn Monroe boobie shake at Kris 😂😂😕
he isss

They were really special. The last of great American music.
if krist and dave asked me to rock out with them for one show... i'd definitely wear the crappy dress and play my heels off.
I also would not hesitate one second
I could watch Dave all night long.. he's a rhythm machine.

Something about his voice sounds really croaky when he sings DIIIIIIIIIVVVVEEEEEE IN MEEEEEEE
A mixture of how his voice naturally is and heroin or any opiate for that matter gives you that croaky dry crackle
I think it's the cigarettes, and just the fact that they played night after night after night.
I think he also had bronchitis during this concert as well.
