Can we please just respect the fact that this dude cut out the word Alexa so that if we had an Alexa near by she wouldn’t go off
Imagine having one of these and someone named "Alexa" in your house...it's gonna be a nightmare lol
A lot of tubers do that
You can also have you device respond to computer or amazon
She? ... lol ... It. It wouldn’t go off.
@@dodson775 Amazon's actually added a 4th Wake Word. You can chose the word "Echo" too. So, Alexa, Amazon, Computer or Echo are the four Wake Word choices.
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Come up to a window and say “Hey Alexa open front door” you’ve now broken into someone’s home
nah. cos she can't open a door
@@rfcalm She can if the person has linked it to a device that opens a door! Example, garage door opener.
Nah mate, you need a passcode to open a door. I think Amazon might have thought of that
@@Sgt_Winters Nah mate, Amazon don't make all the door locks nor personal automation projects that people can throw at these things. If someone stands by my kitchen window, they'll be able to open a cupboard bifold door and control the lights. Is that a security issue? No but that's not to say that some people might make mistakes with their own automation. Obviously you want a door lock to be secure but it's pretty trivial to connect up a momentary relay from the likes of Sonoff and add that via the alexa skill and create a routine called "Open Garage" and then just hope that someone doesn't think of shouting to alexa through the window "Open Garage".
Voice ID mate. So the person has to have excat voice pattern as yours to authorize that.
What do you want in the 4th Generation Echo Dot? Due out later in 2019
When is the echo dot 4th gen expected to come out?
all things tech when is the new gen expected out
better microphones and faster response time. right now its hard of hearing and it takes a second before it starts listening
Likely October ready for Christmas
I agree, The microphone on the 3rd Gen isn't any better.
huge respect to you for muting the word Alexa, I legit love you.
But does it act as regularly Bluetooth speaker??? How?
@Nauman Ashraf ia there a way to use it as Bluetooth speaker?
Get your ultimate echo deal amzn.to/2YKUrv8
Yes u can use it as a Bluetooth device. You have to connect alexa to you phone via the alexa app. Then u can use alexa as a bluetooth speaker while watching youtube, movies, playing music on your phone.

Hi
Devin,
......I hope that you are having a great day. Thanks for the comment. If you like Alexa, you will love watching this --->>> ruclips.net/video/loYmkcaSc5A/видео.html .Would you be so kind to subscribe to my channel? It would be great if you did. Thanks so much.
thanks for not saying "Alexa" before every command, well muting it out anyway, mine would of been going nuts lol
But on 3:12 he said that and mine got triggered!
i did say before every command, didn't say he said it once or twice
He could have left them in and edited his audio when he says the trigger word by removing frequencies between 3,000Hz to 6,000Hz.
I wrote my comment then, scrolled down and saw this 😂🤦🏼♀️
Well then mute it
I sincerely want to thank you 🙏🏼 for muting whenever you told Alexa to do a task. 😩 i was preparing myself to go crazy with mine here at home lol.

Amazon dropped the ball by not adding a built in battery for those who want to use it without constantly plugging it into a power cable.
I can see this coming in maybe the next generation
they did this on purpose, they don’t want people calling out “Alexa” and not getting a response, the power cable ensures it’s always ready to go
@@chriscaricato8101 How is that? If it's on battery why wouldn't it respond?
They have battery packs for every generation of dot. It's on the site. If you dont find it for this generation yet just give it a tick. Or make your own and get it licensed so you can make some scratch.
@FenstermäkerWJ I'm sure what your point here is. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't take a genius to replace a triple a battery. A battery level indicator is also not something that needs to be invented. The tech has been in existence for decades. I fail to see your argument with why they cannot have a battery in there. Echo dot is just like my portable Bluetooth speaker that RUNS ON BATTERY if not bigger than it. My ISP router runs on UPS battery so there is no concern of internet connectivity loss for the echo when there is power failure if it has a battery.
I have amazon echos all across my shop and use the intercom to complicate to staff and customers around my shop. Also use the multi room music to play music around my shop.
every time a new gen comes out people try to say you have to get the new one. They are coming out with a 5th gen this year, but for simple listening (ebooks, christmas music) i think 3rd gen is nice
Thanks for not saying Alexa much Appreciated. For 1st time Alexa dot buyers,You might as well get this 3rd gen.Aside from the speaker there's no reason to upgrade from a 2nd gen to a 3rd.And everyone i know pairs there's to a Bluetooth speaker.Thank You for the video.
Who's here because they got one of these for 99 cents?
😊
LMAO ME
99p
Lol ordered mine today
Human beings are all the same 🤣
You can only create a ‘stereo pair’ with two of the same devices, you can’t mix and match. From Amazon: At the moment you can pair two supported Echo devices of the same model for stereo sound in a speaker set. You can also pair an Echo Sub to supported Echo devices for richer bass.
You know who’s Amazing?

@@filmfilms827 agreed
Just got my echo dot 3rd generation for free!!
Can I use Spotify in that speaker?
I mean , can I connect my phone to the speaker and then reproduce my music on Spotify ?
So the only difference from previous models is it’s aesthetics and speakers
What else would you like to see added? Battery?
Robert Wilson No not really I would of liked Amazon to instead of this maybe improved their Alexa app which is horribly slow, and made Alexa more clever perhaps because a lot of the time when I ask if a question it just says I don’t know.
I totally agree that the app is horribly slow
Robert Wilson I want it to laundry my socks ! Disappointed .... ;) Just ordered one .
And the power is no longer USB but a proprietary connector 🤨
A lot of the features shown here can be done with the 2nd gen device for example controlling lights etc.
Yes I know, this is more for those considering it for the first time 😁
@@allthingstech It would be kind if you made that clearer in the video title.
true but the sound is Awful this one has much better Sound
Dumb question here, can I connect to my laptop so I can here my zoom meetings better?
New to Alexa still but wanna buy. Instead of stereo can they just play the music equally? So I can have even music throughout the house with a few of them?
Yes, you can have all of them play the same music at the same time. You can also group them so that you can play music through different ones.
Ok another part of the question...will the multiple speaker support only work with Amazon music and WiFi or will it syncs through blue tooth..
I find this review sort of biased. Amazon dot 2 smaller. You can buy cloth covers to match room and swap out for different rooms if you like to display. Who runs the dot from its onboard speakers unless bluetooth is out. a nice pair of speakers bluetooth connected give whole room sound, music and speech. I don't see the Dot as a display object. bought a socket hanger and my smaller dot 2 hangs hidden at socket and my harmon kardon speakers do the shelf display and throw great stereo sound. No offence but dot 2 does everything that dot 3 does, but smaller and less intrusive to hang at wall socket out of the way paired with great speakers.
Loud it to them people!
I have a 3rd gen echo dot at home which is powered by MTK and I legit use it every single day.
The echo devices are so easy to use and very competent in performance with mediatek chipsets
Here because I just got one for 99p, its brilliant.
So much value in this, thank you for sharing
So can i link this thing to my pc and when i say "Alexa play (song name)" will it play song via spotify on my speakers?
I also need to know this, does anyone know the answer?
@@KB-cv7eh yeah if you have spotty on your PC then yes you can link it up to any of your Echo devices but you CANT tell Alexa to to play a song if its connected to your PC
@@MikeWoods.97 nice thanks
@@KB-cv7eh no problem homie
Wait for the speaker system, do we have to have 2 echo dots? Can we have just 1 and have it as a stereo speakers?
Great video
Is the echo dot enough for me since I have Alexa app in my phone or it is MUCH better to have echo SHOW
I need it for few smart home devices only
Just got the 2nd gen should I upgrade to this and send the 2nd get back?
Yes that was helpful because I have a Amazon Echo Dot Gen 3 🙂👍
Plugged mine into my HiFi, made a USA Amazon account and set it up with that account and then synced my Tidal account using the Alexa Tidal skill and can now voice operate Tidal, the Tidal skill isn't available in UK.
Your voice sounds so soothingly familiar. Where you ever a BBCAmerica news caster? Or ever done any voiceover work for any of the BBC TV channels?
Hey. Great video. I am going to buy one next week.
1 question - where did you get your amazing bakerlite telephone in that colour? 😀
I am really happy with my echo devices. Didn't know they were powered by Mediatek
Thing is my echo dot 2 is connected 24/7 to a really good Bluetooth speaker so sound is good and its connected to my lights so it's also really convenient. The echo dot 3 is a waste...for me IMO. If I didn't already have an echo I would get this though.
Got mine as a gift....target practice soon. It doesn’t even get to stay in the house. It has its own box!
All of the rooms at our house have completely random names too 🤣
Great carnt wait for my new dot, cool lamp too, where`s it from?
Its the Hue Go Wireless colour changing light. geni.us/hmcf
Great review, but why would anyone want to spend for 2 inferior onmi speakers for stereo over using decent directional speakers with the dot's included 3.5mm jack into the Hi-Fi or just some logitech home theater speakers would probably give you a better sound.
Because Alexa isn’t just a speaker 💀
It was a $1 on amazon 5 days ago. Got 1 myself before the promotion ran out.
Same. I bought an echo look as well
$1!?
@@MoriMori77 it's 1 dollar right now!
It’s 29 dollars right now
All the things you mentioned including controlling lights and the drop in can be done from 2nd generation echo device too... these are nothing new... other than the aesthetics and sound I think there is no other difference to be more precise
Soumyadip Mitra Well the aesthetics, design and sound are the reasons for change ...!
@@steven2809 the new ac plug is a reason for NOT a change. The 2nd gen USB plug is universal and can be run on any micro USB unlike the newer plug which is proprietary
KCy Agreed. I didn’t say the new aesthetics were better....
We use Google homes; two homes two minis. Broadcast feature works well also.
I need some help with Echo Dot 3rd Gen. I have try several headphones and ear buds.
I can't find one that the 3.5 mm plug stay in place you have to hold it or jiglle to hear
the sound . Am I doing soming wrong ? Do I have the wrong kind headphone? ThankU
It is a quite impressive product launched by Amazon.... It's amazing that MediaTek is powering it
Why change the power to DC from usb? That's a backward step for me.....speaker wise sounds clearer at louder settings
Can you explain for a non tech savvy guy what the practical differences are between dc power cord and the previous usb one ?
@@neils.9846 DC like the old days using a round power lead means you have to use that type of power, whereas usb you can plug it into the back of a TV, pc, USB hub, even a power bank.
@@jamgooandyou Ahh okay. That makes sense. Thanks !
Enough reason to keep my second gen. The speakers are quite laggy and some times just says random shit when I wasn't even talking to her.
I've just downloaded the Alexa app 3 days ago, but I don't have a "smart home skills" place. Just a section for "skills and games". Why is mine different? Is it because I don't have Echo Dot 3rd generation device? I've ordered it but it won't be delivered until December 5th. Your answer would be helpful. Thank you.
The alexa will work its command for lights and electric fans or radio connected to L-L or L-N power source. But what about lights with common and return switch connection. What is the wiring connection for this so the light bulb can function in the switch.
Surely the performance is nothing to do with volume? You could have turned one down and the other up.
Plus you seem to have mixed your measurement - comparing dBs as percentages has to be irrelevant.
I have an alexa echo dot 3rd gen im so glad you didnt say alexa bc its 11 pm and my lil sis and baby sister are sleeping that would be horrible if it turned on thank you! 😁
I was so impressed by the sound quality of the Echo Dot Gen. 3, I went ahead and bought a 2nd one. They sit about 5 feet apart. Why would I place them so close to each other? STEREO. With a few simple steps in the Alexa app, you can set up an impressive stereo system. And if you want to go wild, add an Echo subwoofer. I am not ready to buy one of those yet. For now I am really happy with my system as it stands. With the luck of a good sale or 2, for less than 60 bucks I have 2 Dot Gen. 3's and 2 Wemo smart plugs to control my lights. (one of my dots went on a 12 hour sale for 17.50 with a free Wemo smart plug included.) And of course a pretty smart information source and all around helper. I can tell you that the sound quality of the Gen. 3 is WAY better that the Gen 2. All around cool set of toys for a very fair and low cost. Superb Features!
YES im so suprised how cheap these amazing devices are!
Does your iphone have to be unlocked to stream music? Want to use it as an alarm clock...
3rd generation is aesthetically hands down the best design so far. I prefer it to 4th generation.
Just ordered my Alexa 3rd gen! so exited!
So its louder and can do stereo? Other than that the same as GEN 2? You can drop in and announce on both. What else is different?
Currently I have a google home mini, which I have a lightbulb with it, controlling it and what not. Does amazon work with a google lightbulb?
Can up play music from my library saved on my pc via alexa? Or will it only play from a Sub'd source
Hi do you need Internet for this to work and can you connect multiple?
The intercom feature...does the 3rd generation work with 1st or 2nd generation models?
Can it make free voice calls to any UK landline or mobile? Google devices can 😆
do you need special plugs put in to work the light or lamp too?
Can you use and android on it??
Who’s here because they got a free one with Best Buy 🤗

Does anyone know how this speaker compares to job flip 5 in terms of sound
Bigger, heavier & fuzzy? How is that better?
USB power gone? How is that better?
Changing light colors? Both dots can do that.
Speakers? Both dots can do that.
Drop in? Both dots can do that.
But guess what....
*THEY ARE THE SAME PRICE*
@@michaellacy9415 - By my score, Gen 2 is better than Gen 3. How is paying "THE SAME PRICE" good?
It's better for some people, if you don't like it don't buy it.
Does it work without the cord? Or it has to work with the cord only?
I just got one to control my Dyson purifier and I love it, but I will still use my Google Home Max for music.
Can it be used as a speaker for your android phone? I'm disappointed that I can't use it on my conference calls because I need to use a 6 digit extension number to connect. 😔
Apparently you need the sub to create a stereo speaker setup. In the video the sub wasn't mentioned so I figured I could still do left and right. Stereo pairing isn't even showing up as an option in my 2nd gen dots in the app, only my 2nd gen echo has the option to select. But when you click setup it says no compatible speakers found. I chatted with an Amazon rep and she informed me you have to have a sub for the option to show up in the dots. Is this correct??
jdouglas0445 I haven’t got the sub and it works
@@allthingstech I wonder if it's my software version for my gen 2 dots? My current software ends in 71720, but Amazon's site says that the latest is 71520. So either I'm outdated, or Amazon's website is. So I pushed the mute button to try and force an update and nothing happened after sitting muted for over an hour. Can anyone confirm their gen 2 software version? I figured the Amazon chat rep didn't have a clue when she told me I needed a sub in order for the stereo option to appear in my Alexa app for the dots.
jdouglas0445 Thats rubbish... stereo pairing just splits the two channels...sub has nothing to do with it.
Lol only the speaker. I have 4 echo dots and they work great. I need one more for my wifes den so i can annoy her by dropping in.
your wife has a den? Does she ask if she can sleep in it?
You need one in the toilet! 🤣

Very useful vid! Liked and subscribed!
I just wanted to add my own experience. I've had all of them and just got the 3rd gen. I also have Google home. The dot 3 is clearly way ahead of the earlier versions in quality and sound. But... There are some issues with the Dot that the home doesn't suffer. If you play both devices with music at a high volume, the Dot will NOT hear you unless you shout or you are very close to it. That is a fact!! I've had them ALL and they all do it... It's like it's gone deaf. The Google does hear you. In all honesty, the gen 3 dot doesn't sounds loads better than the Google home. I was hoping it would but it really doesn't. What the gen 3 does though is look and feel amazing. It's a beautiful thing and it's great to see that Amazon have given some real energy into improving it, that is always great to see so well done Amazon
Marantz paired with Klipsch Bells. I have it cranked up pretty good and the 3 Rd gen Echo dot hears me fine from 20' away on my elliptical. So does the Echo+.

I just bought my one today for £29.00 50% discount. I hope I'm not disappointed!!!!
You won't be!
in this 3 generation the UK or US version also works in Italy? Will Alexa be in Italian?
How does this one compare to the bigger one 2nd gen (not the plus)
Um, was any of this actually specific to the 3rd gen hardware other than improved speakers?
If all you are doing is listening to music, get the 3rd gen. But, it has too much echo/bass to understand the voice well. I prefer the 2nd gen Alexa and and would get it, even if I had to pay extra. Or, get the google dot. It is smarter and more happy medium between voice and sound.
The echo devices powered by mediatek are pretty good for a smart home
Amazing that I don’t have a device listening on me but you do
