yeh, when i was young there was a huge labrador in the neighborhood. I was totally afraid of him, and ran away screetching whenever i saw him. Which he took as invitation to play and hunted me until his owner would call him back. Soooo scary!!
exactly, the dog hears the little girl get excited and he thinks "AH you have chosen PLAY!" i think the little girl is having fun too, just that play screaming, which of course is doing the owner a concern. but he seems gentle.

They’re such good dogs. I had a friend who had two of them. Every once in a while they would try to “rescue” people who were just swimming and didn’t need help. They weren’t trained rescue dogs, it’s just a really strong instinct. My friend would just yell “ let him rescue you if you don’t mind” and the Newfie would just very gently pull them by their arm toward shore.

This is an example of what's called Convergent Evolution. When two completely different species of animals evolves similar traits and features and in this case Harry the adorable doggo has evolved into having a large fatty and furry body like that of a bear to keep warm from the harsh cold environment he lives in. And even though humanity may had a part in affecting his evolutionary line that can still lead to his DNA somewhat copying to that of bears.
I had to explain to the neighbor hood kids that "chase" is a dog's favorite game; he's not coming after you to gobble you up, he just thinks you're playing with him when you run away.

When I go out for a walk with my German Mastiff (great dane) I always get asked by people, expecially with kids, if my dog bites. I tell them that he is a good dog but only bites bad kids, those who don't do their homework or don't listen to the parents. It always makes them laugh, try it. One day a toddler said "I'm a good kid please don't bite me" with such a innocent voice that made crack 🤣😜
My dog is big and fluffy and gets the same reaction from kids, she’s very overwhelming friendly (does not jump, just cuddles into you), I always get sad when she goes up to children to rub up against and they get scared , like they don’t know they missing out on the cuddling of a lifetime!!! neighbor has one, got a hug from it once when i parked my car and where picking up my takeaway and i hear woman yell " IM SORRY IM SORRY HE DOES NOT BITE " and turned around and i was squished against my car by this huge smiling dog :D the neighbor came really quick and took the dog off me, and she was apologizing profusely, the dog really behaves really well but cant resist mcdonalds cheeseburgers, which i had in the bag. The dog was this huge for ever happy looking teddy bear ^^ so i gave one of my burgers for the dog, and now a days pet him every time we see each other ^^

So the owner telling the dog to calm down is counter-intuitive to addressing the problem, since it's the kid's excited behavior that needs to be addressed, not the dog's natural response to it. When two completely different species of animals evolves similar traits and features and in this case Harry the adorable doggo has evolved into having a large fatty and furry body like that of a bear to keep warm from the harsh cold environment he lives in. And even though humanity may had a part in affecting his evolutionary line that can still lead to his DNA somewhat copying to that of bears.
I had to explain to the neighbor hood kids that "chase" is a dog's favorite game; he's not coming after you to gobble you up, he just thinks you're playing with him when you run away.

@@toddversus i love them but pure breeds usually have a shorter lifespan compared to the mixed.
also they tend to go to the vet more. my dog was sort of a lab-boxer mix, he lived up to 15 years, when he just went letargic and died in his sleep. he never got sick

Why focus on the end? Much better to focus on the good life he most likely had. Everything is temporary, but that's what makes life so precious.

I pet a newfie named Maggie who was a rapid licker for a big dog. She had a little white on her. I met her when she was hardly a year old, but she was a big puppy that hadn't reached full growth yet.

When I go out for a walk with my German Mastiff (great dane) I always get asked by people, expecially with kids, if my dog bites. I tell them that he is a good dog but only bites bad kids, those who don't do their homework or don't listen to the parents.
It always makes them laugh, try it.

My dog is big and fluffy and gets the same reaction from kids, she’s very overwhelming friendly (does not jump, just cuddles into you), I always get sad when she goes up to children to rub up against and they get scared , like they don’t know they missing out on the cuddling of a lifetime!!! the neighbor came really quick and took the dog off me, and she was apologizing profusely, the dog really behaves really well but cant resist mcdonalds cheeseburgers, which i had in the bag. The dog was this huge for ever happy looking teddy bear ^^ so i gave one of my burgers for the dog, and now a days pet him every time we see each other ^^
